FE4 is still my favorite in the series, and yes. Some of the points made in the video I do agree on Have you given the FE4 Manga a read, it’s actually a pretty good adaptation on the story. There is a lot of content there 😊👌
I love the world of jugdral and while I appreciate the experimental mechanics, and enjoyed some of my time with the game I fell off hard at the end of the first half of the game and just couldnt be bothered dealing with all the systems of the game. I think this is partially the fault of my personality, while I dont always necessarily need to optimise everything I want to understand all the systems of the game and feel like I'm in control and making good decisions, but the pairing system is so arcane and if you want to make the most of it it feels like you have to start planning at chapter 1. this along with the fact that I found the extreme size of the maps very off-putting because I get a great deal of satisfaction out of taking an hour to beat a map, getting that satisfaction then taking a break before attempting the next one, and while the save feature means you can DIY it in a way with the castles I still feel the obligation to beat the whole chapter before stopping. now this is all just the way I enjoy Tactics RPGs clashing with FE4 and not anything intrinsically wrong with the game and I can certainly see why people love it so much, I definitely think it has some of the best storytelling in the series and now that I'm playing through thracia (and really enjoying the return to a more regular fire emblem experience) I've really fallen in love with jugdral and am hoping that FE4 receives a great remake soon so I can enjoy the excellent story with some gameplay that aligns better with me.
Well put, Jugdral is easily one of the most fleshed out and interesting settings in FE and I think arcane is a great way to describe the game mechanically. While that approach is largely a product of the time it's understandably off-putting to a lot of players these days (including myself). I've been finding Thracia *extremely* refreshing after FE4 as well, though I'm still in the early game. If Intelligent Systems can strike the balance of retaining what makes the original special while modernizing it to be more intuitive mechanically, I could see the remake being one of my favorites in the series beyond just the narrative.

There are so many manga adaptations of video games I need to read someday, I'll add FE4 to the list!
