  • Sexual Relationship within an Amritdhari Marriage.
    To clarify there is nothing mentioned direct in Bani in regards to this subject but we have made a humble attempt to try & understand it.
    We are often asked the question by married couples if its allowed to have a sexual relationship even if its not for the purpose of having children hence the reason for doing this video.
    Basics of Sikhi is a project by Everythings 13, an educational charity dedicated to spreading the wisdom of the Sikh Gurus. Please SUPPORT our work - bit.ly/1cRKGdz - Whether its £5 a month or £50, all will go towards parchar and NOT building funds.

      We also don't go in other people's religion channels and tell people how amazing Sikh religion is.
      We respect all religions. So there is no reason to say Sikh religion is the only one that says that.
      You should start accepting also that Christianity is not the only way to God.
      That is what Tyler Burns was also saying!!!

This needs to do done in a pachar ie when you guys go out there and speak to people because the matrix we are born into objectifies women in such a bad light its really sad. Obviously the capitalists reap the rewards of women as sex objects potrayed and entrenched in everything we look at ie advertisements, music whether it b bollywood or hip hop, rnb... Its every where. Its like now adays a woman cant give someone a genuine smile without it being read in the wrong way. Seriously this needs to be done and relayed in a pachar style.

      Only such societies don't tolerate girls who lost their virginities before marriage, nothing is said about virginities must be preserved until marriage in sikhi, since sikhi believes that every gender, no matter their virginity status are all equal to this universe and vaheguru ji. So don't get confused with punjabi culture and sikhi, they are both different from their point of views.

    I personally believe that contraception is okay if the couple is not emotionally ready to have a child, or if they can't afford a child and all their lives would become a hardship. So many cultures impose family values and essentially force women to give birth to legitimize their marraiges. I personally don't believe I have any right to expect a wonam to have my child. For those and other medical reasons I also believe abortions are justified. More that that it is not my body--what right do I have to make demands?

    • @harkirankaur7216
      @harkirankaur7216 8 лет назад +17

      +Rahul Bangar Sexual desire will decrease, but love will not. And there is a difference between love and attachment. Gurbani actually says husband and wife are so close they become one soul in two bodies. It also says the same divine light is in us ALL and we are to see and serve that divine light in everyone. The first person we are close enough to see that light in is our spouse. In actuality there is only ONEness of everything. But the closest glimpse we see of 'merging' back to that oneness is through the marriage relationship and that is why Gurbani speaks of all human souls as 'soul bride' married to her husband lord. The relationship between husband and wife, can be deeply spiritual and mirror our all journey to merging back to Creator. But there is a difference between love and lust, caring and attachment etc. I need food to survive, but I can also become addicted to it. See the difference? btw also kaam is not sex. A lot of people think it is. Kaam is desire to anything worldly. Addiction. Like some desire power over others and that can also be seen as kaam. Desire for money. etc. One can be in love with their spouse, without becoming filled with desire. Think of a healthy marriage where both spouses love each other. Then think of a marriage where the husband is over controlling and jealous of his wife all the time. In one case they share love and connection. In the other case the wife is the husband's desire and that desire is ruling him. Hope I explained that ok LOL.

      Harkiran Kaur Religion many times say something which don't makes any sense. Religion is philosophy and it can be wrong.
      There can't be one rule or law for everyone. Everyone may be born from one light but everyone is different.
      One should learn to use his or her brain.

    • @harkirankaur7216
      @harkirankaur7216 8 лет назад +7

      Rahul Bangar Actually there can, because we are all human. Using your analogy, it's ok to discriminate against some because they are different. One thing still existing in Sikhi right now is discrimination against women. Even though our Gurus taught gender equality, it has yet to be achieved. We are kept from seva at Harmandir Sahib, some sampardas think we are impure and keep us from seva (of SGGSJ) because we menstruate and they think we are dirty, some rehet maryadas tell wives they must see (and serve) their husband as a God (Parmeshwar) but the husband is only told to see his wife as a faithful follower. And women are kept from the most prestigious seva by many groups - acting as one of the panj pyaras. All this because they say we are 'different' and deserve less than males. The Gurus however taught that ALL humans deserve the SAME opportunities and rights. As we ALL carry the SAME divine light equally. The human bodies are temporary and will die. The soul that essence the divine light in us, does not. Our true identity is that light and not the haumai (Ego) identity. These false identities we *think* we are are built entirely upon our experiences in THIS lifetime only. Remove those memories, remove those experiences and there still exists a consciousness. What I call the doer. The experiencer. THAT is our true identity. That identity happens to be the SAME across the board. So everyone is NOT so different after all. Read the shabad on Ang 736 where it describes reality as a play, where God is both the director AND the actor playing all the characters. But when the play is done and the costumes are removed (our ego sense dies) we see there is only ONE. (And there only ever was one). Then it asks us, where did all these identities and forms come from and where did they go?
      In reality this world is the act of the ONE conscious creator (formless) pure consciousness... manifesting form through itself (likened as a dream many times in Gurbani). Its like when you yourself dream at night (as above so below) and you think you are only one character in the dream but in reality the entire dream happened in YOUR mind, and YOU were not only every character, but also every blade of grass, the trees, the sky etc as well as they ALL manifested in your own thoughts. But when you wake up, you realize they were all one (yourself) even though they seemed separate in the dream world.

    -- not looking to argue please.. just want to get this off my chest….
    These r my beliefs at the moment and I’m trying to learn the gurbani but it is making me distant a bit from what’s written. I am recognizing it’s more important to focus on my morals/values instead of society. And I keep on learning and who knows maybe my values will change. I’m remaining openminded and following religion where I can be happy and not judged.
    I believe this is YOUR interpretation and it can be different for others. And I’m not saying you are wrong with what’s written. Sex is not bad and we should talk about it. It’s quite interesting you couldn’t even say the word sex in this video. Why is it so taboo? We need sex education in India to reduce the rape culture.
    But what I wanted to say is, sex is not bad. And I don’t think we should follow word to word with any religions book. Remember these stuff was written before birth control. And times have changed so we need to progress as well. The youth wouldn’t be “influenced” if we use the word sex. They will learn how to have safe and healthy sex.
    Many women are raped in their marriages and sadly, they don’t even understand it’s happening.
    Sex does not equal to kids, absolutely not. Cause if you are saying that then, you might be against abortion.
    I believe you can follow Sikhi which I’m trying my hardest to do but it’s difficult when the community and society points fingers.
    I went to gurdwara after so long and started to cry and repeating “I’m sorry for making this place dirty” and then I went back and no one was there but me and I didn’t feel sad at all…. I realized waheguru isn’t judging me, it’s society and the community
    I’m not saying it’s NOT written in the gurbani to have sex after marriage -- it is written. And I know free will can cause us to do harmful things for us and we should be doing God’s will. But remember, everyone’s God looks different. My waheguru is MY waheguru and I don’t judge what your values/morals are and I hope I get the same respect (which I know I wouldn’t).

      The truth is. Sikh's are not allowed to marry outside of Sikh Religion.
      There is a simple reason for that. Sikh's believe that when you get married. Two souls merge into one.
      So we take a promise to have a relationship with God. We will both take Guru Granth Sahib as our teacher.
      If someone is from another religion, Sikhs must not change their religion. They must not marry someone who is from the other religion.
      The Same rule applies for Men and Women.
      Hope this helps.

      Which is not a BAD thing to say because Baba Deep Singh Ji, Mai Bhago, I think Sant Baba Sundar Singh Ji Bhindranwale were Behungam (Celibate) and had A very high avastha.
      Guru Ji's were against using celibacy, matted hair, like the path of Sadhus. But Guru Ji said physical relations are only for marriage in charitar 21 in Charitropakhyan (in Sri Dasam Granth Sahib) Guru Gobind Singh Ji elaborates on this. My personal belief is that physical relations are for procreation purpose only as kaam must be subdued. I don't believe in contraceptive, abortion and such because if u input Gurmat into the minds of everyone
      There will not be a need for such a thing

      @@QasimAli-bc2vc oh please 😭😂 sikhi isn’t a rule book. As you practice and meditate, you submit your thinking for the gurus. It doesn’t need to tell u every single little detail rather it provides you with a mindset which is in line with sikhi so you can make certain decisions for yourself if they follow the rules of sikhi and are not in contradiction with it. I.E- if you are doing business and you are in negotiations. A religion cannot tell u every single situation but it can bestow upon you the correct mindset to deal with it. Islam is a beautiful religion but stop with this whole ‘you must convert or you’ll go to hell mentality’. Which god in their right mind would expect someone to leave their religion and cause harm to the family structure for that?
