Tbh tho, QQ can outdmg a e0s1 Acheron.. (it just matters if you get lucky or not: if u have aukurky, + a 4 sp stack with decent-good relics, and s5 genius or s1 before dawn, that is easily 300k single dmg, maybe even more for multi ☠️. The only reason why I think QQ is stuck in S-tier on Prydwen, is bcs of the heavy luck, and high sp cost, which makes her a “worst” unit than DHIL bcs he has almost 100% uptime with sparkle, and consistent dmg. If actually comparing dmg, her dmg is roughtly the same as DHIL ( between 10-30% weaker depending, it’s very similar to Jingliu’s dmg. )when luck is on 100% uptime, but that’s literally impossible to have constantly, which is why she’s stuck in S :/)

@@Glizzyman the 3-star gifts are super good for her but almost all of the 2- and 1-star gifts are useless so taking that path isn't great. you are better off just going hunt and getting the extra turn upgrade for the path attack

@@jasmineelhilali9152 I’m talking about in terms of strength and team building, aventurine is going to be our first five star defensive option with a heavy emphasis on follow up attacks, and robin is also going to be the new best harmony character for most follow up based characters
The issue I see with follow up is that they all behave really different, is quite hard to build the archetype since Numby, Lightning Lord and Ratio's Chalk have different conditions and mechanics but all are FuA's, doesn't feel as cohesive as debuffs or DoTs, also, Topaz as an enabler lacks utility, her buff is nice but not enough to compite with a buffer or debuffer and being only single target is quite punitive in this game.

Also, hilariously, he was the first character I ever maxed and that was at launch and before I even knew what a 'Kafka' was. I just liked the DoT and hoped they'd add more to it. Happy boy now for sure, lol.
The sheer amount of viable, different playstyles is what I like most about Star Rail. You been burned by too many rolls in Hoyo games or even other RPGs not going into your crit stats? Just roll for Kafka, Black Swan, and all the other DoT Nil characters and you'll never have to worry about "chances" ever again. You get a dopamine rush when you see characters attack when it's not their turn or use an additional action? There's a girl, her space pig, and her annoying co-worker that would love to meet you. You just want one character to handle the damage while your other three support and bolister said character? Yep, that's a hyper carry, and they tend to be on Destruction or "Destruction-like" (whatever that means) path. Or in this video's case, the Non-DoT Nihility path. Even though there are "universal characters" like Ruan Mei and to a somewhat lesser extent Silver Wolf/Pela, I find it so cool that so many main damage dealers have entirely different team comps, stat distributions, and even light cone usage, despite using the same characters. I hope Star Rail continues to do this for at least another three years. I know with the more characters over the years, this statement will become less and less true.
IMHO, I actually feel like the best thing for Star Rail right now is to slow down and focus on releasing fewer characters with more carefully balanced stats. Doing this would also give them time and room for more creative character design and give some time for casuals to catch up with the recent power creep.

I think design will continue to get nuttier. We’re also seeing Break and FUA strategies going wild, and we’re exploring more hybrid path spaces, and doubling up path spaces. I just hope they slow down or give more tools to catch up, since we’re already hitting power creep and bloat, and I want this game to welcome more players and foster a healthy future.
i honestly am on-off with hsr and just got back again bcs anni and idk if i want to go back because the never ending powercreep. i feel like i have to get the new character everytime to catch up and i hate it.
@@shinidragon7775 how is it unfounded when multiple other people (including op) feels or worry abt it? vars wouldn’t make the video if its unfounded. its a concern people felt (and experienced) thats why he discussed this. i pulled jy in 1.0 bcs i prefer men and i was instantly punished by it. now i have to get his support to make up for that. but oh wait, this character is better. then this one. sure everyone have their niche to shine but at the end most people dont have the time to go for niche, they go for best universal.
Acheron being so powerful worries me from a balancing standpoint. A well-build Acheron trivializes most of the game's content, so it's inevitable that everything will become more difficult to balance her existence, which will be a big problem for those who don't have her. And since she's obviously the devs' favorite, they won't do anything to make her weaker anytime soon.
Not really, I mean she's not so much more broken then everyone that she just one shots everything but she's just typical powercreep. She's what jinglui did to the game when she came out, best dps and black swan did the same thing with Kafka. As long as you can beat the game with 4 stars only then I think it's in a good state
@@Glizzyman You can't beat the game with 4-stars only at least not MoC and PF. You can with their Eidolons, but people who do it have expressed how straining and harder it is getting every patch despite already reached the peak in investment outside better relics. The new patch will raise MoC and PF even higher and according to dreams so will 2.2 too.

I'm mostly just talking about how people complaining about the game getting harder, that it's not a big deal since we dont know how much moc is gonna be raised by. And Its not going to be enough to push anyone down to not 3 star it, unless they get specifically countered which sucks but that's how moc is. Anyone that can 3 star abyss with selee probably will still be able to especially with sparkle, unless the moc changes to be difficult even for someone like IL then it's not too bad. Genshin has the same problem with powercreep yet people can still beat the game with something like diluc, I just hope the game doesn't get powercrepy hard and you can still beat the game with any 5 star dps like genshin. If you decide to focus on the character ofc
@@Glizzyman Not really, in Genshin there are people still beating the Abyss without any constellations on 4-stars and even without 4-star weapons. Mainly because the game is balanced around its elemental system, there would be no point in the elements if characters relied entirely or mostly on their raw damage. HSR has the elemental weaknesses, but it's more of a bonus than the main way characters dish out their damage as you can't break enemies multiple times per turn. This is also only a year after its release compared to Genshin's almost 4 years.
Yes, as an E2 Blade main content diff is growing since the release of Dan heng and Jingliu so they will "balance" Acheron and fuck everyone in the process. (I don't have trouble anymore because i improved my characters but who knows)
i'm glad that i wasn't wrong in my planning. i foresaw the power of DoTs being able to bruteforce content. so i decided to save up and get kafka. i got her at e3s1 but at the cost of losing other Dps units, and good thing i also got a blackswan and ruan mei to partner with her. so that's one team that can already clear any content. but due to lacking a premium dps i was having a hard time with the 2nd team. acheron was a godsend, the number one reason that got me to pull for her was she can reduce toughness break and qol that she gives reducing the time i need spent on SU in my account i only got 4 limiteds; Kafka, Ruan mei, Black swan, and acheron. (ratio is free) i don't have those other dps and those premium sustains/buffer but that didn't stop me from finishing content since just kafka/Black swan and Acheron demolishes them. good planning can save you from using money to get a character. lol
Acheron's technique literally helps me clear simulated universe soo much faster especially swarm disaster and gears. Honestly although most cc's told that she is bad without lightcone idts cause I was casually hitting like 300-400k with gnsw and pela with sweaty pearls
It's not that she's "bad without lightcone". She's "worse". Instead of a S++ unit, she's "just" a S unit. Star rail is designed in a way where you can beat it with pretty much everything, and you can go overkill very easily if you want to whale. Acheron's dmg with S5 GNSW is approximately 20-25% less on a long fight compared to her signature, mainly due to your ultimate getting delayed a entire cycle. Which in practice means you're taking 1-2 cycle more or so to clear. Far from "unplayable", simply worse.
Not bad. It's just that her main downside is that Nihility has bad DPS lightcone options. Either go for her signature, GNSW and a LC that was revealed to me in a dream where it increases crit stats but its a gacha 4-star.
I returned to HSR at 1.6, but almost quit again because how difficult the combat content for me, you cant just random sh*t go everytime. But once I learned DoT dont require crits and pretty easy to build like transformative reactions in genshin, then I got Kafka, they kept me in the game. Kafka and DoT really carry me in the SU, since nihility's path resonance is also very very OP imo. Every dot enjoyers can feel the phun when you see such large amount of debuffs. And at 2.0 my friend told me about Black Swan, so I pulled her. The double mommy DoT combo dont dissapoint
In my opinion we have a little bit too much characters in this path like we gonna need some preservation characters plz because there not that much in that path
My guy really undermining my man SAMPO KOSKI. He's the best support for BS AND Kafka too imo, his DoT application is so much that you can easily reach like 20+ Arcana stack onto the enemy and then Kafka detonates it and reach insane damage.
What's with the hate on Sampo though? Buddy is literally a puppy next to Sparkle. Also good luck to Acheron pullers, but i'm personally skipping. Nihility mommy is one thing, but Sam with Firefly is another.
@@Danny-mp8dq combat paths are different from lore paths though. Lore paths are their canon path while the gameplay path just tell u what their role is in a team lol
I felt that "who you bring matters" most in the latest story boss fight. Turns out it's a world of difference when using March with actual AoE and shield skill versus Gepard with no AoE and shields reliant on ult. That said, fitting for the Nihility path to be the path that says "nothing matters, not even your type and resistance"
I was pleasantly surprised with how much damage Kafka and Black Swan did. 200k at most at MoC. Nihility became so much fun for me to play in SU because of them. Now I'm planning on pulling for Acheron (hopefully it won't take me to hard pity on a 50/50 xD).
This is what I was thinking as we. One of the reasons I run nihility in SU is at certain points you can drop one or both of your supports with the dot healing blessing
It wouldn’t even need to be team wide healing if it was healing the character with the least amount of current HP that would still be amazingly overpowered in DOT teams

nihility to me is like genshin's geo done right, it has suitable versatility with all other paths as well as having massive strength in numbers, which is what I assume the intention was with geo
I was going to replace Kakfa with Acheron until I saw how Kakfa's follow-up passive, signature LC, and Black Swan interact. Now I have Team Mommy, lol. Also, her Nihility squadmate buff is a completely separate damage multiplier added in after everything else. You seem to do less damage bringing any non-Nihility buffer (not counting E2) less than a giga stacked Sparkle and even then Sparkle only manages to come close; not meet or exceed it. Needless to say Acheron just kicked the bar straight into the ceiling.
I've always felt this way about nihility. I used to use Pelageya Sergeyevna A LOT until I got my first 5 star (Welt) so I played through all of Belabog to the end of the Lofou (and SU) with Kafka, Sampo, Welt, and Natasha(sometimes switching Welt off with Pela)Now I usually use them for harder stuff and I replaced Pela/Welt with Guenifen and Natasha with Lynx. Nihility really does kick but especially with the newer 4 set added to the game. The only downside would be that they are glass cannon, it generally takes 2 to 3 hits to kill one of them if Lynx can heal them or doesn't have ult. Lynx can buff thier max HP though so it evens out somewhat (unless it's the trash can lord, he still one shots the team members after he buffs himself) and fights are usually over when the enemy decides to act because of DoT or Kafka force activating the DoTs
I kinda want to imagine how things would change in version 3.0+ With debuffing being the main focus in ver 2. I guess in 3. buffing your team members would be crucial again with enemies having ridiculously high eff res or straight up immunity or full resistance to debuffs in most cases. Or we'll have something like a "quick swap" in Star Rail, with members doing okay dmg at best but in exchange can do dmg very often very efficiently, slowly and directly chipping away the enemy's health. Or they could tap into more niches with the debuffs. Like having a remembrance character i.e a dot focus character who deals Ice Dot, or maybe something like a quantum character who can stack entanglements onto the enemies without worrying about the stack limit.
In the future, they are probably gonna introduce enemies with more cleanse mechanics to shake up the meta again, but for now i will enjoy the present meta as is.... even though i lost the 50-50 to himeko😢😢
Fun fact, at the time Raiden Mei got her Herrscher of Thunder form playable, we also got Irene and formed the first lightning dedicated team. Then other suports dedicated towards an element like Haxxor Bunny (Silver Wolf), for ice damage, Fischl still for lightning damage came out. So we can say she also started a niche just like her Genshin and Star Rail versions. Because before that we used elemental suports, who could suport every element for tge elemental teams.
I was originally going to skip Acheron because I never got Kafka and I never expected Nihility to be built up this much, but I accidentally got both her and Black Swan, so now I'm faced with the prospect of actually building Guineifen and using them
Wanting an all purpose team is primarily why I went for mono quantum. Is it the strongest team? No. But it's comfy to play while being able to clear any content
Nihility has been my favorite path since DOT got more hashed out. There's just something so satisfying about the enemy losing a huge chunk of HP just by taking their turn. 😂 Especially with full suspicion stacks in Sim. Uni.
I thinks it’s just that Nihility characters are made to work together if not being universal units anyways. Contrarily, Destruction, Hunt, and Eruditon aren’t usually made to work mutually synergistic together (Himeko/Herta and Topaz being the exceptions).
That'll change soon. Robin - can 100% turn everyone with ult/does dmg everytime a fua occurs/buffs dmg a ton. Adventurine - kit available to test in main mission. Stupid good shielded. Gains shields after every 8 fua/gains random stacks on ult/skill generates even more stupid amount of stackable shields. Topaz - enough said. And ratio or clara and boothill in the near future. Gg ez
Because Erudition, Destruction, and Hunt characters are DPS characters Nihility are sub-dps While the rest are sustain with some exceptions like Aventurine and Gallagher or the likes because they can be Sub dps And since this game is so flexible to build characters, with shitty Relic drops, you can do the heck you want to make them all dps
Just got Acheron E2, I also have Seele E2 and Jingliu E2 and I have to say it feels like a different ballgame. Regardless of the enemy team comp she just roflstomps through them. I already thought my Jingliu was really insane but Acheron takes it to another level, at least at E2
E3 Acheron is my Rome because never before in my HSR life (played it since release) that I could shred up to MoC 10 with so little effort. Averaging at 26 - 27 turns remaining, at that. Once I got my Sparkle to 10/10/10 and maxed my E1 Bronya, I suppose even MoC 12 would be history to me. You missed a footnote about the best healer for Acheron, though - Gallagher. Like our beloved Dr. Ratio, he's no Nihility, but debuff is the name of his game, and his kit's clearly made to be Acheron's buddy. It's similar with Welt except he's Nihility. There's been some discourse about Acheron vs Welt recently, but my opinion is that neither of them are better because they're made for each other (which is also HSR lore accurate if you'd finished 2.1 story). Acheron plus the two old men by her side could clear pretty much everything, especially if you add a Harmony character or another Nihility (for non-E2 havers). So I'd argue that rather than the dommy mommies meta, it's the dommy mommies and two dads' meta. Essentially: shred everything with the power of your parents; this is HSR meta now.
Nihility is very vague in what it is,you could swap ratio to nihility and he will fell right at home,in long term charechter that are well rounded in a well rounded path will overshine niche charechter in niche paths
Nihility in HSR is also a very good representation of it, since it can take out anything, regardless of how long it takes. SU specifically really does show that in the fact that the path resonance alone could clear each world with relative ease, but the blessings also come with extra debuffs (such as increased DoT damage taken, decreased attack, healing each party member for every DoT tick on an enemy). Everything eventually fades away when facing Nihility
A super underrated choice for DoT teams is Trailblazer (Preservation) S/He can already add debuffs by applying a roomwide taunt, AND can make best use of the light cone "Trend of the Universal Market" which, while admittedly RNG based in obtaining- Adds a burn DoT scaling on DEF% when she's hit and she'll guarantee that hit thanks to the taunt. Belabog's set bonus also grants more DEF% when stacking effect hit rate, since that's needed for taunt. This works with both Kafka and Acheron in both applying a DoT AND a debuff. Aether/Lumine would kill to have such relevance in the meta compared to Trailblazer
With Acheron I now have two Nihility teams. Ach is a more traditional hypercarry crit team, just doubling up on debuffers, then there's the usual Kaf-Swan DoT team. Combined it's rounded off the last few stars I needed for this round's MoC/PF, and made short work of Aventurine too.
After I got Acheron, I decided to pull for her light cone since I still had some stellar jade left over... I got it within 20 pulls. I have literally no idea how this happened. I hope this doesn't mean I'm now cursed forever afterwards.
took my E0 Acheron with Good Night, Sleep Well into MoC12 for a quick test, I have mostly mediocre relics and still 3 cycled Sam. With my Kafka/Black Swan on the other side, my teams were 5/8 nihility. Guess I'm a nihility main now.
But my luck is so horrendous I can't get every char.. Decided to try pulling for Acheron, but I lost my 50/50 again for the 4th time in a row and all at high pity.. Sigh..
Right now my, "idk what team to use here, so let me use the good old reliable" team has been my DoT team since I've been a DoT lover for most games I play and I'm so happy to see that Star Rail actually made that concept incredibly reliable.
every time there is a raiden/her variables getting released, I will promise you that the META will blow up into smithereens. Valk Bladestrike was once on top of the world, trio teams are more relevant than ever, the shogun became the staple of all electro teams with her assistant and purple space mommy samurai just dug a hole and bury the entire META with 2 other mommies while also supercharged a playstyle into it's glory. It is obvious that Da Wei inserted his daughter into his projects.
I love nihility because of how they annoy the enemies. Harmony does small damage & big buffs to allies, while nihility does big damage & big debuffs to enemies. It's the polar opposite of harmony.
the reason why i pulled acheron 1. meta because hoyo loves raiden expys so she definetley not fall off as fast as other units so pulling for meta is an actual nice option if not for anything else
ALso for those of who you worried about "Acheron's full power entirely inhinges on whether or not you get the light cone" doesn't freakng matter. IwinToLoseGaming already showed a video with the most f2p team 1 cycling moc 12. Better than any other f2p team. So it doesn't matter if she's a full power or not. She'll clear the game like it's nothing no matter your account. She works better as a f2p more than any other unit in the game. THis has already been tested. So she's not nearly as expensive as other units. Even without her light cone. She's a great character. Whether your stll summoning. Or rerolling. Defintely try to get her. Nothing but a boost to your account. she scales AMAZINGLY well with building her well. Z-tier unit. Because she's just as broken in lore. Lore accurate power. Nothing comes close to acheron. At least until we get a straight up aeon unit.
I've been a Kafka main since the day I've built her, and, in my luckiest moment yet, got Black Swan 25 pulls after getting Ruan Mei. Sadly, I lost 50/50 when pulling for Acheron, (I will get her in the rerun) and have no Huohuo (I will also get her in the rerun). My main team is Kafka-Black Swan-Ruan Mei-Lynx (will replace with Gallagher until I have Huohuo)
it's crazy to think she will be a meta mainstay simply because of her technique's ability to trivialize basic mobs in SU; maybe it'll be less impactful after the make the QOL changes to make SU runs more efficient for orb farming, but regardless her talent is still just that good on it's own she is the single reason I actually began investing in making/using food again ever since the first couple weeks of the game; being able to use her talent on a whim is so useful that I actually use SP food now and can finally make use of my food materials
As a person who always loved the Nihility path the best and invested the most into the Nihility characters I got, the current state of the game makes me happy since I used to get told that I was giving myself a harder time clearing endgame content by not building up a Hypercarry Destruction comp and going all-in on DoT Teams since Kafka released.
When the only limited 5 stars you have are the triple Nahility mommies, Topaz, and Silver Wolf. I am the nihility, it's the only options I got. Not including my Himiko, Gepard, and Dr. Ratio.
soon I could see us having a nihilty unit that either gives heal or shields per DoT, because honestly I could see it becoming a thing because Blackswan, Guinifen and to some cases Luka are apply defshred, firekiss and vulnurabilty while applying DoT
They have to made DOT teams overpowered because it’s a bundle sale, if you get Kafka you will have to get Black Swan, not counting RM and HH whom you expect to be replaced. Same as Acheron, even c6 you still need another Nihility character (BIS Pela currently) which might get replaced soon as well. It’s either get all the pieces or suffer a massive DPS loss.
As a Xueyi main: maybe she's too gimmicky or niche (and ofc being Destruction) but since you brought out QQ, which is another quantum DPS, Acheron's all-in-one toughness break reminded me of Xueyi. She was probably not worth mentioning in this video, but for me, since I lack some other main DPS characters, Xueyi's ultimate acting as a jack of all trades breaker really helps in a lot of situations. Fun thing is I fit her in a team with Black Swan and Guinaifen for all purpose content and overworld.
I gave up on the game, was trying to go full F2P, but it's impossible. Every DPS release it's a Neuvillete and every new support it's a Kazuha, there is no fucking way to keep the pace of the new charcters unless you invest a ton of money, i rather save my money for other stuff.
Hear me out, this is gonna sound crazy BUT maybe don't get every character? It's a gacha game, literally there is like 5 gacha games where you can get every character f2p and even if you could you wouldn't be able to build them all good. It can take months to build a DPS so idk why you would want them all and you can clear the game with 4 stars only so you don't even need the new shiny DPS every time. The same with supps and every other character
@@Glizzyman Good luck completing the highest levels of SU without a good 5 Star Sustain so the enemies don't kill you in 1 turn, or completing all of MoC with 3 stars without having to invest in a hyper-specific strategy that may end up not even working without a lot of luck and great relics to compensate the inherent lack of stats of 4-stars characters
@@Truck-kun11 uh you do know you can do that with the free dr.ratio plus like trailblazer defense and that's good enough. Meanwhile the other team gets 4 star selee and your good. My builds are terrible for pela and I still don't get 1-shot in su, if you can't clear moc 3 star then I'm sorry but it's a skill issue. You can and I have seen it, with trailblazer only and lynx your good for the most part. The other supp are better but you only need 2 of them and that's it. If you said something like fu xuan is now bad and you can't use her then it would be a problem but even the new sustain won't outdo her in easy of use, so until you can't complete the game with trailblazer or lynx then maybe it's a bit of a problem. But if your not collecting some sustain then your just plain dumb
I’d like to see a Nihility unit whose kit revolves around placing an amplifying debuff on a single enemy, such that all subsequent debuffs (or even damage) on said enemy gets applied to the rest of all the enemies.
I got Acheron yesterday. The fact that she deals as much damage as IL or Jingliu at level 60 with a Good night sleep well light cone, level 2 traces and whatever relics I had in inventory is really really frightening...
I'm just glad I get to use my Guin and Welt. I thought I'd bench them forever but now with Raiden (Acheron) and Ratio they have a purpose. I don't have Kafka and BS, but SW, so it's nice nihility is becoming more than just the restricted DoT teams Also my E6 Luocha applies 2 debuffs and fits right into Acheron and Ratio teams, and even shreds more Resistance
vars... all this was obvious since kafka release. Got in the game since I saw her and became a nihility follower. Considering how the game was a turn based game, having units that are meant to be damage over time, her detonating those effects made it obvious that the path will become strong as we got 5* releases. Also got some bets in FUA teams, because having an attack in between turns makes your character overcome the main constrains of having to take a turn to attack, thus also making the playstyle strong af. So yeah, I like having pulled kafka, SW, BS, Topaz, Ruan Mei and Acheron. Having hsr release charas so fast makes it great for accounts like mine that doesn't play male characters, they only owe me fkin imaginary coverage.
Since we are getting a phys hunt next patch - i expect more focus on single-target and break. Expecting my Sushang to shine! Ofc destro and debuffs likely won’t go out of meta for a long time due to versatility/coverage
Hey guys so I am pretty new to playing Star rail and I got lucky and got Acheron on 10 pity, so I was wondering if a team along the lines of this would work for Acheron. Acheron, Sparkle, Black Swan/Silver Wolf, Fu Xuan. I like all these characters so it would be nice if I could eventually run them all in a team together but pls let me know

Tbh tho, QQ can outdmg a e0s1 Acheron.. (it just matters if you get lucky or not: if u have aukurky, + a 4 sp stack with decent-good relics, and s5 genius or s1 before dawn, that is easily 300k single dmg, maybe even more for multi ☠️.
The only reason why I think QQ is stuck in S-tier on Prydwen, is bcs of the heavy luck, and high sp cost, which makes her a “worst” unit than DHIL bcs he has almost 100% uptime with sparkle, and consistent dmg.
If actually comparing dmg, her dmg is roughtly the same as DHIL ( between 10-30% weaker depending, it’s very similar to Jingliu’s dmg. )when luck is on 100% uptime, but that’s literally impossible to have constantly, which is why she’s stuck in S :/)

The issue I see with follow up is that they all behave really different, is quite hard to build the archetype since Numby, Lightning Lord and Ratio's Chalk have different conditions and mechanics but all are FuA's, doesn't feel as cohesive as debuffs or DoTs, also, Topaz as an enabler lacks utility, her buff is nice but not enough to compite with a buffer or debuffer and being only single target is quite punitive in this game.
Scariest thing about Nihility is that 5* Pela still doesn't exist...

The sheer amount of viable, different playstyles is what I like most about Star Rail.
You been burned by too many rolls in Hoyo games or even other RPGs not going into your crit stats? Just roll for Kafka, Black Swan, and all the other DoT Nil characters and you'll never have to worry about "chances" ever again.
You get a dopamine rush when you see characters attack when it's not their turn or use an additional action? There's a girl, her space pig, and her annoying co-worker that would love to meet you.
You just want one character to handle the damage while your other three support and bolister said character? Yep, that's a hyper carry, and they tend to be on Destruction or "Destruction-like" (whatever that means) path. Or in this video's case, the Non-DoT Nihility path.
Even though there are "universal characters" like Ruan Mei and to a somewhat lesser extent Silver Wolf/Pela, I find it so cool that so many main damage dealers have entirely different team comps, stat distributions, and even light cone usage, despite using the same characters. I hope Star Rail continues to do this for at least another three years. I know with the more characters over the years, this statement will become less and less true.
IMHO, I actually feel like the best thing for Star Rail right now is to slow down and focus on releasing fewer characters with more carefully balanced stats. Doing this would also give them time and room for more creative character design and give some time for casuals to catch up with the recent power creep.

I think design will continue to get nuttier. We’re also seeing Break and FUA strategies going wild, and we’re exploring more hybrid path spaces, and doubling up path spaces.
I just hope they slow down or give more tools to catch up, since we’re already hitting power creep and bloat, and I want this game to welcome more players and foster a healthy future.

Acheron being so powerful worries me from a balancing standpoint.
A well-build Acheron trivializes most of the game's content, so it's inevitable that everything will become more difficult to balance her existence, which will be a big problem for those who don't have her.
And since she's obviously the devs' favorite, they won't do anything to make her weaker anytime soon.

You can with their Eidolons, but people who do it have expressed how straining and harder it is getting every patch despite already reached the peak in investment outside better relics. The new patch will raise MoC and PF even higher and according to dreams so will 2.2 too.

@@Glizzyman Not really, in Genshin there are people still beating the Abyss without any constellations on 4-stars and even without 4-star weapons. Mainly because the game is balanced around its elemental system, there would be no point in the elements if characters relied entirely or mostly on their raw damage. HSR has the elemental weaknesses, but it's more of a bonus than the main way characters dish out their damage as you can't break enemies multiple times per turn. This is also only a year after its release compared to Genshin's almost 4 years.
Yes, as an E2 Blade main content diff is growing since the release of Dan heng and Jingliu so they will "balance" Acheron and fuck everyone in the process. (I don't have trouble anymore because i improved my characters but who knows)
i'm glad that i wasn't wrong in my planning.
i foresaw the power of DoTs being able to bruteforce content. so i decided to save up and get kafka. i got her at e3s1
but at the cost of losing other Dps units, and good thing i also got a blackswan and ruan mei to partner with her.
so that's one team that can already clear any content. but due to lacking a premium dps i was having a hard time with the 2nd team.
acheron was a godsend, the number one reason that got me to pull for her was she can reduce toughness break and qol that she gives reducing the time i need spent on SU
in my account i only got 4 limiteds; Kafka, Ruan mei, Black swan, and acheron. (ratio is free)
i don't have those other dps and those premium sustains/buffer
but that didn't stop me from finishing content since just kafka/Black swan and Acheron demolishes them.

It's not that she's "bad without lightcone". She's "worse". Instead of a S++ unit, she's "just" a S unit.
Star rail is designed in a way where you can beat it with pretty much everything, and you can go overkill very easily if you want to whale.
Acheron's dmg with S5 GNSW is approximately 20-25% less on a long fight compared to her signature, mainly due to your ultimate getting delayed a entire cycle. Which in practice means you're taking 1-2 cycle more or so to clear. Far from "unplayable", simply worse.
Not bad. It's just that her main downside is that Nihility has bad DPS lightcone options. Either go for her signature, GNSW and a LC that was revealed to me in a dream where it increases crit stats but its a gacha 4-star.

I returned to HSR at 1.6, but almost quit again because how difficult the combat content for me, you cant just random sh*t go everytime. But once I learned DoT dont require crits and pretty easy to build like transformative reactions in genshin, then I got Kafka, they kept me in the game. Kafka and DoT really carry me in the SU, since nihility's path resonance is also very very OP imo. Every dot enjoyers can feel the phun when you see such large amount of debuffs.
And at 2.0 my friend told me about Black Swan, so I pulled her. The double mommy DoT combo dont dissapoint

My guy really undermining my man SAMPO KOSKI. He's the best support for BS AND Kafka too imo, his DoT application is so much that you can easily reach like 20+ Arcana stack onto the enemy and then Kafka detonates it and reach insane damage.

I felt that "who you bring matters" most in the latest story boss fight. Turns out it's a world of difference when using March with actual AoE and shield skill versus Gepard with no AoE and shields reliant on ult.
That said, fitting for the Nihility path to be the path that says "nothing matters, not even your type and resistance"

nihility to me is like genshin's geo done right, it has suitable versatility with all other paths as well as having massive strength in numbers, which is what I assume the intention was with geo
I was going to replace Kakfa with Acheron until I saw how Kakfa's follow-up passive, signature LC, and Black Swan interact. Now I have Team Mommy, lol.
Also, her Nihility squadmate buff is a completely separate damage multiplier added in after everything else. You seem to do less damage bringing any non-Nihility buffer (not counting E2) less than a giga stacked Sparkle and even then Sparkle only manages to come close; not meet or exceed it.
Needless to say Acheron just kicked the bar straight into the ceiling.
It's even more busted with e2 bs.

I've always felt this way about nihility. I used to use Pelageya Sergeyevna A LOT until I got my first 5 star (Welt) so I played through all of Belabog to the end of the Lofou (and SU) with Kafka, Sampo, Welt, and Natasha(sometimes switching Welt off with Pela)Now I usually use them for harder stuff and I replaced Pela/Welt with Guenifen and Natasha with Lynx. Nihility really does kick but especially with the newer 4 set added to the game. The only downside would be that they are glass cannon, it generally takes 2 to 3 hits to kill one of them if Lynx can heal them or doesn't have ult. Lynx can buff thier max HP though so it evens out somewhat (unless it's the trash can lord, he still one shots the team members after he buffs himself) and fights are usually over when the enemy decides to act because of DoT or Kafka force activating the DoTs
i have all three mommies and i'm having fun with all the sh>t ton of damage they can produce in SU, it's literal insanity
I kinda want to imagine how things would change in version 3.0+
With debuffing being the main focus in ver 2. I guess in 3. buffing your team members would be crucial again with enemies having ridiculously high eff res or straight up immunity or full resistance to debuffs in most cases.
Or we'll have something like a "quick swap" in Star Rail, with members doing okay dmg at best but in exchange can do dmg very often very efficiently, slowly and directly chipping away the enemy's health.
Or they could tap into more niches with the debuffs. Like having a remembrance character i.e a dot focus character who deals Ice Dot, or maybe something like a quantum character who can stack entanglements onto the enemies without worrying about the stack limit.
In the future, they are probably gonna introduce enemies with more cleanse mechanics to shake up the meta again, but for now i will enjoy the present meta as is.... even though i lost the 50-50 to himeko😢😢
Fun fact, at the time Raiden Mei got her Herrscher of Thunder form playable, we also got Irene and formed the first lightning dedicated team. Then other suports dedicated towards an element like Haxxor Bunny (Silver Wolf), for ice damage, Fischl still for lightning damage came out. So we can say she also started a niche just like her Genshin and Star Rail versions. Because before that we used elemental suports, who could suport every element for tge elemental teams.
I was originally going to skip Acheron because I never got Kafka and I never expected Nihility to be built up this much, but I accidentally got both her and Black Swan, so now I'm faced with the prospect of actually building Guineifen and using them
Acheron feels so overturned it's almost unbelievable, a "support" character not only matching but easily passing DPS units especially in group fights
Wanting an all purpose team is primarily why I went for mono quantum. Is it the strongest team? No. But it's comfy to play while being able to clear any content
once they release a new 5 star quantum DPS i expect it to be a tier 1 team for a while.

Nihility has been my favorite path since DOT got more hashed out. There's just something so satisfying about the enemy losing a huge chunk of HP just by taking their turn. 😂 Especially with full suspicion stacks in Sim. Uni.
I thinks it’s just that Nihility characters are made to work together if not being universal units anyways. Contrarily, Destruction, Hunt, and Eruditon aren’t usually made to work mutually synergistic together (Himeko/Herta and Topaz being the exceptions).

Robin - can 100% turn everyone with ult/does dmg everytime a fua occurs/buffs dmg a ton.
Adventurine - kit available to test in main mission. Stupid good shielded. Gains shields after every 8 fua/gains random stacks on ult/skill generates even more stupid amount of stackable shields.

While the rest are sustain with some exceptions like Aventurine and Gallagher or the likes because they can be Sub dps
And since this game is so flexible to build characters, with shitty Relic drops, you can do the heck you want to make them all dps
Just got Acheron E2, I also have Seele E2 and Jingliu E2 and I have to say it feels like a different ballgame. Regardless of the enemy team comp she just roflstomps through them. I already thought my Jingliu was really insane but Acheron takes it to another level, at least at E2
funny thing is...i dont have kafka, dont have memokeeper and didnt got acheron. So much so for the strongest path for me....
E3 Acheron is my Rome because never before in my HSR life (played it since release) that I could shred up to MoC 10 with so little effort. Averaging at 26 - 27 turns remaining, at that. Once I got my Sparkle to 10/10/10 and maxed my E1 Bronya, I suppose even MoC 12 would be history to me.
You missed a footnote about the best healer for Acheron, though - Gallagher. Like our beloved Dr. Ratio, he's no Nihility, but debuff is the name of his game, and his kit's clearly made to be Acheron's buddy. It's similar with Welt except he's Nihility. There's been some discourse about Acheron vs Welt recently, but my opinion is that neither of them are better because they're made for each other (which is also HSR lore accurate if you'd finished 2.1 story). Acheron plus the two old men by her side could clear pretty much everything, especially if you add a Harmony character or another Nihility (for non-E2 havers). So I'd argue that rather than the dommy mommies meta, it's the dommy mommies and two dads' meta.
Essentially: shred everything with the power of your parents; this is HSR meta now.
Nihility is very vague in what it is,you could swap ratio to nihility and he will fell right at home,in long term charechter that are well rounded in a well rounded path will overshine niche charechter in niche paths
That would've made him so damn good with acheron. Especially since half his kit generates stacks for acheron.

Nihility in HSR is also a very good representation of it, since it can take out anything, regardless of how long it takes. SU specifically really does show that in the fact that the path resonance alone could clear each world with relative ease, but the blessings also come with extra debuffs (such as increased DoT damage taken, decreased attack, healing each party member for every DoT tick on an enemy).
Everything eventually fades away when facing Nihility
A super underrated choice for DoT teams is Trailblazer (Preservation)
S/He can already add debuffs by applying a roomwide taunt, AND can make best use of the light cone "Trend of the Universal Market" which, while admittedly RNG based in obtaining- Adds a burn DoT scaling on DEF% when she's hit and she'll guarantee that hit thanks to the taunt. Belabog's set bonus also grants more DEF% when stacking effect hit rate, since that's needed for taunt.
This works with both Kafka and Acheron in both applying a DoT AND a debuff.
Aether/Lumine would kill to have such relevance in the meta compared to Trailblazer
With Acheron I now have two Nihility teams. Ach is a more traditional hypercarry crit team, just doubling up on debuffers, then there's the usual Kaf-Swan DoT team. Combined it's rounded off the last few stars I needed for this round's MoC/PF, and made short work of Aventurine too.
After I got Acheron, I decided to pull for her light cone since I still had some stellar jade left over...
I got it within 20 pulls.
I have literally no idea how this happened.
I hope this doesn't mean I'm now cursed forever afterwards.

took my E0 Acheron with Good Night, Sleep Well into MoC12 for a quick test, I have mostly mediocre relics and still 3 cycled Sam. With my Kafka/Black Swan on the other side, my teams were 5/8 nihility. Guess I'm a nihility main now.
12:48 if you happen to have e2 bs however that issue is fixed and acheron becomes kafka/bs' best friend.
But my luck is so horrendous I can't get every char..
Decided to try pulling for Acheron, but I lost my 50/50 again for the 4th time in a row and all at high pity.. Sigh..

Right now my, "idk what team to use here, so let me use the good old reliable" team has been my DoT team since I've been a DoT lover for most games I play and I'm so happy to see that Star Rail actually made that concept incredibly reliable.
every time there is a raiden/her variables getting released, I will promise you that the META will blow up into smithereens. Valk Bladestrike was once on top of the world, trio teams are more relevant than ever, the shogun became the staple of all electro teams with her assistant and purple space mommy samurai just dug a hole and bury the entire META with 2 other mommies while also supercharged a playstyle into it's glory.

I can’t wait until we get Herrscher on Sentience as a physical nihility unit that buffs physical units like Sushang and Argenti.
It could be better if there will be a nihility char to buff any erudition charas instead
I love nihility because of how they annoy the enemies. Harmony does small damage & big buffs to allies, while nihility does big damage & big debuffs to enemies. It's the polar opposite of harmony.
the reason why i pulled acheron
1. meta
because hoyo loves raiden expys so she definetley not fall off as fast as other units so pulling for meta is an actual nice option if not for anything else
ALso for those of who you worried about "Acheron's full power entirely inhinges on whether or not you get the light cone" doesn't freakng matter.
IwinToLoseGaming already showed a video with the most f2p team 1 cycling moc 12. Better than any other f2p team.
So it doesn't matter if she's a full power or not. She'll clear the game like it's nothing no matter your account. She works better as a f2p more than any other unit in the game. THis has already been tested. So she's not nearly as expensive as other units. Even without her light cone.
She's a great character. Whether your stll summoning. Or rerolling. Defintely try to get her. Nothing but a boost to your account. she scales AMAZINGLY well with building her well.
Z-tier unit. Because she's just as broken in lore. Lore accurate power. Nothing comes close to acheron. At least until we get a straight up aeon unit.
I've been a Kafka main since the day I've built her, and, in my luckiest moment yet, got Black Swan 25 pulls after getting Ruan Mei. Sadly, I lost 50/50 when pulling for Acheron, (I will get her in the rerun) and have no Huohuo (I will also get her in the rerun). My main team is Kafka-Black Swan-Ruan Mei-Lynx (will replace with Gallagher until I have Huohuo)
Kafka release: Ehh she's alright i guess
Black Swan release: Damn Kafka's pretty good now huh
Acheron release: DAMN, Kafka's alright i guess
it's crazy to think she will be a meta mainstay simply because of her technique's ability to trivialize basic mobs in SU; maybe it'll be less impactful after the make the QOL changes to make SU runs more efficient for orb farming, but regardless her talent is still just that good on it's own
she is the single reason I actually began investing in making/using food again ever since the first couple weeks of the game; being able to use her talent on a whim is so useful that I actually use SP food now and can finally make use of my food materials

At least I won both 50/50s, I would have probably gone insane from guilttripping myself lol.

As a person who always loved the Nihility path the best and invested the most into the Nihility characters I got, the current state of the game makes me happy since I used to get told that I was giving myself a harder time clearing endgame content by not building up a Hypercarry Destruction comp and going all-in on DoT Teams since Kafka released.
When the only limited 5 stars you have are the triple Nahility mommies, Topaz, and Silver Wolf. I am the nihility, it's the only options I got. Not including my Himiko, Gepard, and Dr. Ratio.
soon I could see us having a nihilty unit that either gives heal or shields per DoT, because honestly I could see it becoming a thing because Blackswan, Guinifen and to some cases Luka are apply defshred, firekiss and vulnurabilty while applying DoT
They have to made DOT teams overpowered because it’s a bundle sale, if you get Kafka you will have to get Black Swan, not counting RM and HH whom you expect to be replaced. Same as Acheron, even c6 you still need another Nihility character (BIS Pela currently) which might get replaced soon as well. It’s either get all the pieces or suffer a massive DPS loss.
Acheron is basically like the Dragon Type in pokemon pre Gen 6: High neutral damage against almost every type with hardly any downside
As a Xueyi main: maybe she's too gimmicky or niche (and ofc being Destruction) but since you brought out QQ, which is another quantum DPS, Acheron's all-in-one toughness break reminded me of Xueyi. She was probably not worth mentioning in this video, but for me, since I lack some other main DPS characters, Xueyi's ultimate acting as a jack of all trades breaker really helps in a lot of situations. Fun thing is I fit her in a team with Black Swan and Guinaifen for all purpose content and overworld.
I gave up on the game, was trying to go full F2P, but it's impossible. Every DPS release it's a Neuvillete and every new support it's a Kazuha, there is no fucking way to keep the pace of the new charcters unless you invest a ton of money, i rather save my money for other stuff.
Hear me out, this is gonna sound crazy BUT maybe don't get every character? It's a gacha game, literally there is like 5 gacha games where you can get every character f2p and even if you could you wouldn't be able to build them all good. It can take months to build a DPS so idk why you would want them all and you can clear the game with 4 stars only so you don't even need the new shiny DPS every time. The same with supps and every other character
@@Glizzyman Good luck completing the highest levels of SU without a good 5 Star Sustain so the enemies don't kill you in 1 turn, or completing all of MoC with 3 stars without having to invest in a hyper-specific strategy that may end up not even working without a lot of luck and great relics to compensate the inherent lack of stats of 4-stars characters
@@Truck-kun11 uh you do know you can do that with the free dr.ratio plus like trailblazer defense and that's good enough. Meanwhile the other team gets 4 star selee and your good. My builds are terrible for pela and I still don't get 1-shot in su, if you can't clear moc 3 star then I'm sorry but it's a skill issue. You can and I have seen it, with trailblazer only and lynx your good for the most part. The other supp are better but you only need 2 of them and that's it. If you said something like fu xuan is now bad and you can't use her then it would be a problem but even the new sustain won't outdo her in easy of use, so until you can't complete the game with trailblazer or lynx then maybe it's a bit of a problem. But if your not collecting some sustain then your just plain dumb
I disagree about Nihility being the best path. Don't get me wrong I'm a strong advocator of Nihility but I've got one word for you " Harmony".
you can pry Sampo from my cold dead hands. He's built for break effect and supported by Ruan Mei though.
I’d like to see a Nihility unit whose kit revolves around placing an amplifying debuff on a single enemy, such that all subsequent debuffs (or even damage) on said enemy gets applied to the rest of all the enemies.
I got Acheron yesterday. The fact that she deals as much damage as IL or Jingliu at level 60 with a Good night sleep well light cone, level 2 traces and whatever relics I had in inventory is really really frightening...

classes don't matter for dps if most of them are similar. currently only hunt can be considered differrent for obvious reasons

I'm just glad I get to use my Guin and Welt. I thought I'd bench them forever but now with Raiden (Acheron) and Ratio they have a purpose.
I don't have Kafka and BS, but SW, so it's nice nihility is becoming more than just the restricted DoT teams
Also my E6 Luocha applies 2 debuffs and fits right into Acheron and Ratio teams, and even shreds more Resistance
Lost 50/50 to my first Bronya (after I have Sparkle of course) but I still saved enough to get Acheron and her LC as a ftp.
We now have the Raiden and the Eula (Jingliu, imo) of Honkai Star Rail, I love both play styles!
vars... all this was obvious since kafka release. Got in the game since I saw her and became a nihility follower. Considering how the game was a turn based game, having units that are meant to be damage over time, her detonating those effects made it obvious that the path will become strong as we got 5* releases. Also got some bets in FUA teams, because having an attack in between turns makes your character overcome the main constrains of having to take a turn to attack, thus also making the playstyle strong af. So yeah, I like having pulled kafka, SW, BS, Topaz, Ruan Mei and Acheron. Having hsr release charas so fast makes it great for accounts like mine that doesn't play male characters, they only owe me fkin imaginary coverage.
Since we are getting a phys hunt next patch - i expect more focus on single-target and break. Expecting my Sushang to shine!
Ofc destro and debuffs likely won’t go out of meta for a long time due to versatility/coverage
Hey guys so I am pretty new to playing Star rail and I got lucky and got Acheron on 10 pity, so I was wondering if a team along the lines of this would work for Acheron. Acheron, Sparkle, Black Swan/Silver Wolf, Fu Xuan. I like all these characters so it would be nice if I could eventually run them all in a team together but pls let me know
Yep but keep in mind other nihility/supports will be released.
So other options may sap your pulls between now and reprints.
sparkle just about makes up for the lack of acherons full passive but you may as well run black swan and sw with her and then save sparkle for your other team, maybe with qingque or any other dps you have
