- Today we bring in the new Phalanx class corvette to back us up for a big fight with some pirates in the Trinium sector, afterwards, I need to make moves to make a lot of cash and quick!
Avorion is a procedural co-op space sandbox where players can build their own space ships out of dynamically scalable blocks. Fight epic space battles, explore, mine, trade, wage wars and build your own empire to save your galaxy from being torn apart by an unknown enemy.

If you get a notification that one of your ships is being attacked you don't want to go to its aid in the ship you are currently in - what you want to be doing instead is switching to the map, make sure the ship being attacked is on the area of the map you are looking at and right click on its name in the top right of the screen - that will give you the option of switching to the ship. You can do a _lot_ better in combat than the ai will. Once either the fight is won or you have made your escape you can switch to your original ship.
oh wow, i didn't think you can change ship unless you were in the same sector as it.
for down grades easiest way is to reapply the design. I had subtitles on almost blew coffee through my nose at the intro welcome to avorion my name is sponge.

Great video Spanj loving the series.. For exploration I find it best moving my ships well away from any discovered territory preferably near a rift where I tend to get much less percentage on attacks and more return in loot, lots of blueprints turrets and credits. I would recommend getting a commodore captain for your main ship as they give + armed and auto turret slots which is handy, you can find them at military outposts.
I would recommend your first mine being aluminium in a sector with a bunch of servo factories, you'll end up suppling all of the servo factories and make a ton a credits.. I still haven't worked out how the assembly blocks actually work and how they affect the production speed.. I thought it was based on the level of the mine/station as each level provides a set amount of production.. each advance in building knowledge has it's own set requirement +2 +3 +4 and +5 in assembly blocks.. It's not working for me maybe it's a bug not sure
Thank you for Framework! So many ships (from far more talented people than me) don't include it and it can be frustrating when wanting to upgrade. I've not noticed the scout tab, that's going to be very useful! Keep up the good work Spanj, very much enjoying this series 👏

As always great RUclips once again, Enjoying your foray through Avorion. Also thanks for uploading your ships, I quite like your designs.
Once you get Trinium you should look into Assembly modules. Once you start modifying your ship to use fighters that should be essential. Of course if you had a certain mod you could also use it to build a station that makes torpedo's, but that is a single player thing unfortunately.
That initial fight was amazing. Your ships melted them!! The Miscreant's fight? I think it may need a larger shield pool. God if it doesn't look great though!
The reason the initial scaling took it to the limit of 6 slots is the other way round would be far worse - if you were only just 6 slots and get in a tough fight where you took heavy damage you could suddenly find yourself 1 slot down mid-battle
Spanj. Loving the series! Quick tip to optimize your turrets. Put the defensive turrets on a different keybind than the offensive ones. That keeps your offensive turrets from targeting torpedoes. Set up the offensive ones to attack on target and you get all guns blasting the target you highlight.
I have done just that, all defensive turrets are on 9 and offensive on 1
@@Spanj What I said is just for auto-turrets. Point defense ones are 9 but if you set up another keybind for the offensive auto-turrets they will just clap, specially with cannons. English isin't my first language incase it didn't come through in the original post. :P
it's funny there is actually a ship dialog about a captain taking down pirates with nothing but salvage lasers.
Agree with you Spanj on the fact that scale up of slots maxes the processing power - should do it to just OVER the former slot, leaving you with a whole slots worth of expansion. That said, rather than doing the resize of the ship, I'd just reapply the original ship design and just move it to one slot under your desired slots, and then add your extra blocks. Blamo, with that extra processing power, it should move you to the next slot level. So you easily have the right slots and right at the start of your current max slot processing window. Anyway, that's my hack for the silliness that is Avorion ship scaling!

Youd think that mining lasors, which are designed to tear apart the most dense, tough and durable materials would be great weapons in space games.
Seems like they would iradicate the need for projectile munitions and other types of lasors. I know its probably down to more build choice. Similar to FPS games where Bows are a 1 shot on the battlefield with rifles and other modern weaponry.

Not really. Armor is a lot more durable than stone. Stone is just randomly lumped together minerals and cracks and crumbles apart. Armor is made of refined and solid structures and is made to absorb, deform or deflect. A hypothetical space mining laser is just a weak laser designed to apply a relatively weak amount of heat to the stone so that the uneven heat resistances of the material cause it to break apart into more manageable sized chunks, A weapon has to actually pierce through (or for lasers, completely melt through) the refined, solid substance without being able to exploit stress points. It's the same reason we don't use drills or pickaxes to take out tanks

You could or rebuilt him right there with the reconstruct kit. Also your builds are pretty. But you should check out the cage method. Put all vitals in a minimum .25 size armor casing.
I took two ships to a sector to start getting trinium and got stomped. I warped out in time to a busy and, what i thought was, a safe sector. To have those pirates follow me and destroy both my ships. My reconstruction site was back at the start. Was a tough loss but luckily had them towed and rebuilt at the repair station

so the way I found best for making early money is to use one captain to scout make sure he has a trade system installed then. use a merchant captain to run trade routes. the wormhole device you got will make a temporary worm hole from anywhere too your reconstruction sector.
I was able to move a derelict space station with a regular ship. I docked with it and jumped with it all the way back to my "safe" sector. I made sure that for the first jump I was pointed at the jump coordinates so I didn't have to try to move it much at all. Might work with the asteroid. PS... I did it as a test and plan on doing it more so I can salvage them safely with a captained ship.
Yeah works with the roids too, easier tho if you apply a light weight template coverting the roid to a sml station first
Once you do have a mine put a hanger bay and a captain on it and you can get the mine sending out miner fighters (order cap mine sector) for ongoing consistant mineral income.
You'll need to transport over the miner fights from a carrier.
Dont use R-miners until you have transporter block
It is good to have 200% crew for top speed and repair speed. My mid game Königsberg class light cruiser can do over 1200m/s without boost. I love this Workshop design.
Now you know you need at least three best friends to go with you need somebody to run interference
I probably asked this before but you always put in an "integrity field generator" in every ship you build right? It helps hold the ship together.
As other have mentioned auto cannons are great, attack my target works a bit better to focus down targets.
Might check to see if you need a new reconstruction kit for the miscrient.
I think i checked that off camera and it still has one it looks like so they don't consume on use afaik
don´t set up mines until you found out wich product you want to produce and in wich sector it would be profitable...
otherwise you´ll waste a lot of money.
You should salvage or at least shoot apart the wrecks. You'll get a fair number of extra glowies that way.

Couple questions in the past then... Is it not worthwhile equipping both your ships with repair thingies, so u can rep each other during those tough fights ?
And then if your ship has a lot better jump drive than the escort, can u not dock to your ship and use your long range jump drive only ?

Better building your own pulse turrets to get the best stats at turret factory.
What turret designs are you using? What creator? Is it available in the Workshop?

45:10 I know its last year video , but i got the exact same "Unveiling" R-11 Hyperspace Enhancer MK V Exception. I got a 3 slot Ship, but some how the range of the jump is not expanding. Am i missing something?
A broken ship is not that big a deal, just tow it in, then repair missing blocks and lets the crew fix it. You might want triple crew so it repairs quicker, but you do what you think is the best.

No I think this is the first time your close to having the right crew, your crew has been so lacking it has been pitiful, now you finally see how having three times the crew gets you double the speed and double the repair doesn't that seem like a good thing, I do not believe you can get double the gun damage by having three crew to fire every weapon or run every miner. Of course you need to have the space in quarters for the crew :)

Ik I'm way out of date, but fyi, a corvette is smaller, less armored and has less weaponry than a frigate. Again ik I'm well out of date but I just discovered your awesome series 💀😅

You know you can teleport between ships right? If ya see the message a ship is under attack you can just take over and defend it yourself or escape

Toss a torpedo out. AFAIK, enemy point defense isn’t used offensively.
Tough Luck, but easy enough to get it back. Maybe just maybe your pushing in a bit too fast? I feel your rushing in, not taking the time in the Easy area to build up your resources & Cash by "Grinding " out!! AKA Empyrion. You won't go in unprepared there, why do it here?
