Tifa and Cloud vs Aerith and Cloud were similar to the iconic love triangle “the girl you grow up with” and “the girl who recently transfered to your class” in Japanese novel. Even the creators of ff7 talk about this in the interview. We all know 99% the latter will become a couple and end up being together. Thats why Japanese fans value Cloud and Aerith more and I really appreciate that fact and for me thats enough.

clerith is canon. The love between Aerith and Cloud is not only based on the fact that Cloud has part of Zack's memories and attitudes. In the original game there are dialogues and scenes that are quite clear on this point.
Cloud doesn't have zacks memories. Cloud's false memories come from tifa because she thought cloud made it into solder. That's really the only thing cloud got from zack. Just his soldier persona and false memories of sephiroth burning down nibelhiem.
How can you not ship people who are in love with each other? I don't understand it. I understand not to ship Cloud and Tifa, because in fact it is a one-sided love in the remake. That is, there are options here, either to ship or not. I went through the original several times, bringing everyone together in turn . I'm not putting Cloud in touch with Tifa yet , because he's obviously in love with Aerith . But if in the second part I see feelings for Tifa as well. I will go through the game again several times .
