Thanks! I appreciate it. Playing that cadence without the essence of those tonals is like not having the bacon on a bacon cheeseburger….. the fans need that bacon on the burger next time!
Nice battle overall…. But MVST quints was doing the absolute most trying to sneak solos in every chance they get and I’ll never understand why drum sections play over each other! It’s very stupid and not good for the camera for when you want to look back over it. Get out your feelings and just go back and forth like a 5th 🤷🏾♂️
@reggiep mdfs is corny, bro! Nobody fears them! They have had their style since the 80s. So I respect the tradition! However, "let's get butt naked" will always be corny. Also, anyone that goes to "they sound good", "they are clean". Well, it's college! The Mountain top of our craft. You are suppose to sound good & clean in college. BOTTOMLINE they don't move the crowd!
bring the time back to '19 when DOA snares played clean because of the kevlar heads LMAO not saying DOA isn't clean- but their material works BETTER on kevlar than the drumset heads they have now, and the kevlar heads don't hide dirt like the loose drumset heads can Coming from a corps guy, I do appreciate a nice wet snare sound, but when you're playing dense stuff like DOA, best to stick to Kevlar IMO
Kevlar heads are for indoor (dci) competitions. Their sound is not as loud as plastic heads indoors. Keeps a better balance. In my opinion no hbcu percussion section should have Kevlar heads. It's not our style or tradition.
@@frankbrown6088 personally i'm with you on that. I've seen a lot of lines rock plastic heads and sound good- but then again, when it comes to playing, the denser stuff DOA (or any MEAC line, NSU for example) cranks out (eg flam fives, book reports, chutra drags) would start to sound muddy on plastic heads because of how little articulation there is at lower heights- all comes down to playing clean if you're getting judged all good though- everyone's allowed to think differently man- I respect the dignity for tradition in your statement 🙏
I think otherwise, valley had a very clean sound even though they have way more people missing, they won overall.. way more cleaner. Its was a good battle until they kept playing over each other I need another battle
DOA…. As a fan of yours… I need those tonals on Reggae next time… please. Thank you!
They’ll be back soon

Dag DOA I'm missing yall tonals. The water I'm thirsty!!! Lol

Aye… at 8:25 I feel like DOA was finna get busyyyyy 😅 I’m so mad valley started playing over them
They definitely was finna wrap it up 😂
6:11
Both section was good hard to judge but I don’t like the section playing over the other section that shit is rude.
Agreed
thats what i said and if they gon overplay sb they need to play good material
Where did the tonals go for doa? They dont march them anymore?
Nahh they’re back , they were just not available for that game
6:30
Respectfully, imma need MVSU quints to cut the bs💀😭
I had forgot all about MVSU until last year. Why was it a fence between them
Separation of classes
Valley sounding better
Every time DOA play for some reason I’m thoroughly uninterested.. the crazy part is they’re clean.. just the cadences are bucket water boo-boo
lol aye them “ bucket water boo-boo” cadences be winning them dubs
I just hope DOA dont run from MDFS
Trust me they won’t
Man don't no hbcu want it with mdfs..... mdfs needs to battle dci drum corps lines. They boys that nice, real talk.
@@reggiep lol they definitely are dangerous I will admit
Props

MV quints was giving str8 rim with them big clunky ass sticks🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂
Was going good til they started playing over each other and talking…
Why cut each other off? It’s beneficial to no one and makes it harder to examine the beats. Cameraman bout had a stroke. 😐

I definitely could rock with either sound honestly especially being someone who marched and heard both sides of the spectrum during those years

No cap ducking a snare battle then holding ya snare up like you chopped ain’t it 😂
😂
mvsu sound dirtier than flint water..
😮💨🤦🏾♂️😂
