PLEASE NOTE: This video has a lot of information and is Part 1 of the Plywood Flooring Series. We are not professionals, but we are sharing our experience and everything we have learned. Please add any questions you have below. We plan on doing a video at the end of the series to answer all of them. Thanks for watching!
I do have a question🙋♀️ I'm mid video so I'm not sure if you will answer it later. But my question is why didnt you guys decide to cut the other way vs long ways? Is there a specific reason or is it just preference?
What is that t-square looking thing attached to your saw??? Do you have any idea what the name of it is? Never mind, your video just answered it, LOL! You do an awesome video!
I did this abt 5 years ago. Still looks great, has held up great. I was quoted $15,000 to do my home, i figured I'd give it a go. It cost under $1,000. Best decision ever!!!!
You did your whole house? What's your square footage of your house? I just figured out the cost for my living room and it was over $400 just for plywood...
We've done plywood in several rooms. I'm a pro woodworker with a shop t pretty much build anything in but, you can do what we did without a pro shop. The way you cut your boards to size is the most safest and simplest. I have a track saw so that's what we used. After we had all the plywood cut down, we ran a small round over on al sides with a small router. We then sanded all the planks, I sprayed them with 2 coats of amber shellac, and then i sprayed 5 coats of a water born polyurethane on them. Let the planks dry and then put the floors down. We brought them in the house, rolled out the roofing felt and then nailed the floors down. The floors are beautiful and are holding up with no problems. We never tell anyone they're plywood, and they've all babbled over them. You have nice looking floors, and thanks for sharing your video.
... heck, after Hurricane Katrina (2005), put the whole sheets on the floor and painted .... ... at the time it was a quick fix, but darn... after 17 years it still looks great through out the house and easy to keep clean ...
I've been trying to find a way to replace our bathroom floor and hallway by our laundry room. When we moved in we didn't know there was so much floor damage. This may have just saved us so much. Thank you
I would love an update on how that turned out. I kinda googled if I could do this but personally following this particular instructions worry me. As it conflicts with other things I have been told.
Thank you so so much for this video I’m almost in tears coz I’ve been looking for an affordable way to do flooring at my grandmother’s house. The vinyl sticker tiles they had look very old and embarrassing. I’d be proud to do this, even if I do it myself. Plywood is very cheap in my country
These look fantastic and I want to try this at my home. I noticed some gaps in between the wood. How do you protect from cribs, water, etc from getting in between those gaps? Thanks.
I’ve found exactly what I will be doing to my floors when I move into my new house!!! This is amazing and who doesn’t love a DIY!? Thank you for this video it’s a life saver
You do not know how much I am appreciating these videos! We're remodeling our home to sell it. and all these videos, the ceiling, the floors, they are helping us SUBSTANTIALLY with doing it ourselves and on a budget. I appreciate all of this more than you will EVER know! These floors are beautiful and will make replacing the flooring in our upstairs so much easier. Can't wait to see the rest! Thank you thank you thank you! I will have tons of questions, but hubby was not home to watch this one. So when he gets home we will watch it together and post all of our questions.
Hola latina, is not my house and I am like hurry up and finish everything already 😂😂 but I know that good things takes time. I’m happy for you, your joy is my joy!! Blessings, take care!!
I have a new house and am older so house DIY is past my days but I still very much enjoy everything you guys are doing. If I were younger and had an older house, I would be so inspired to jump right in!
I have simply glued a 5mm thick plywood "planks" on the kitchen countertop (cut them with a utility knife) then sealed them and no one believes me that is is not a 'real' wooden countertop 😂. I was thinking to do the same thing with floors but wanted to check if anyone done that and stumbled upon your video. Great work you guys! How is the floor serving you, all well? Regarding the maintenance etc...Well I guess all same as "real wood", I mean after all plywood IS a real wood just thinner- it is till wood 😊
What a special family you have. Such blessings. The floor looks amazing and can't wait for the 2nd part. Joanna and Chip better look out because they got some real competition. 👏🌻🇺🇸🐝🌼🦋🙏
You guys are an amazing team!! I love that your Dad helped , it brought back memories when my Dad and husband made 4 bedrooms and a bath in our attic years ago when my 4 kids were little. Those are precious memories that are so dear to my heart. I can't wait for the final reveal!! Blessing to all of you. Anna
Love the floors. I can't wait to see the final results. I wish I had someone who could work with me to do my home. Thanks for sharing this information. Love all of your videos!!!
That is truly an amazing process! Those are going to look SO NICE!!! I prefer wood floors. But when we built our house, it was through a builder with limited flooring options. When I found out their "upgrade" version of an "solid wood flooring" at best was veneered flooring with limited plank width and color options, we decided to just go with the base level vinyl plank flooring and oddly enough it's been amazing, especially with a dog and their nails. I'm amazed at the abuse it's endured. lol Eventually I'll have solid wood floors but until then... it'll do.
Wow beautiful floor you learn something new every day. I though you could not use plywood for floors.feliz Dias de los padres . Your dad looks very young. Xoxo from NYC Marlene. Keep it up love your channel
Looks so cool. Curious as to the size and type of nail. I want to do this, but am worried about how well the trim nails will hold over time, and don’t want the extra pucker that staples would give.
AWESOMENESS!! I love your home renovation series! Great job on the floors! And it was a huge job! I enjoyed seeing the kids and LND's Dad. He and the Latino Engineer worked good together. I like that Latino Engineer gives shout out to Latino Next Door for her input and marvelous ideas-and his muscles:) You two are a cute couple. God bless. Looking forward to next weekend's video.
Would it be possible to show us what lighter stains on the flooring would look like? Maybe several for reference? I absolutely love this idea, just wondering what it would look like with lighter stain on it. What is the maintenance on the flooring also? Does it dent easily if something would happen to fall on it? Do you think it’s pet friendly? They do have accidents, and we have four dogs. I’m looking to change out the flooring in our entire first floor and as we are in our upper sixties, I’m wondering if this would be too much for us to do. Could you give us an approximate cost on redoing your entire floor? P.S you have a very relaxing, soothing voice💚🙃
WOW!!! It looks incredible Yami. You guys did such a great job and yes that acknowledgment had to totally be documented 😆 🤣. Plywood is such a cheaper way to go and it does make such a bigger impact. Loving this home renovation series 😍. Great job so far, it looks incredible 👏. Tfs
What kind of nail doe she use to nail it down ? the ring shank type or more like the stapler type ? And what is the dept of the nail burrowing into the sub floor it should be ?
Genial!!!! Me encanto y le dire a mi esposo que lo hagamos en nuestra casa que ya nesecita algunas reparaciones el piso. Un millon de gracias por la idea 💡!!!!!
I’m sorry I missed the Live, but I’m so happy I got to see the replay. There’s a lot of useful information in here. I would never have thought to use plywood as flooring. Such a great idea, and the end result is amazing. It was a lot of work, but thankfully you have LE and your a Dad who enjoy doing theses kinds of projects. It must feel amazing to have accomplished so much! How much do you think you saved doing it this way, as opposed to using traditional hardwood flooring? Thanks for this video. I look forward to Part 2.
Really great tutorial! What types of nails did you use with the nail gun? I plan to try this out in a walk in closet and might do it in my whole house if I like it!
I just finished putting the same peel and stick you have in ur laundry. I know I don’t have to, but I want to put a clear top coat and roller it on. Is there one u recommend? Can I use the same top coat you put on ur paint and stencil floor? I bought all the products in ur How to paint Kitchen Cabinets. my Laundry rm is done! I made a framed shelf, 5 rows, to put my tea cups and saucers out and painted it and the side table Under when I hang to shelf on the wall. Ur wood floors r beautiful.
Does that nail gun shoot well into the cement floors ? What nails etc is used ? Just interested in knowing ... rather interesting way to get a real wood floor ... thanx for the vid

What did you use for the gaps in order for water not to penetrate?

The felt and a tight fit. Easy to replace also.
Yeah, but what happens when someone drops a cup of water 😂
The foam under the sheet of plywood....best tip ever! Thnx

How would you recommend installing this on cement floors.
Awesome job. I would never thought of plywood or roofing paper. That's why I like diy's. Your family is awesome..
Was looking all over youtube for how to rip plywood without a table saw THAT LOOKED SAFE! Thank you for the information.

Wow that is amazing and I had no clue you could use plywood for flooring, you two rock.
It was an idea the Latino Engineer threw at me one day and once we looked into it more, we were convinced we could pull it off. So far so good!! 🤞🏼😁💕
@@TheLatinaNextDoor So excited to see it all finished, see hubby's do have great ideas sometimes

I love it. I always thought if you cut down a higher grade plywood you could use it as flooring. Stunning.
Can't tell you how much I needed that plywood lesson (& I'm certain I'm not the only one). VERY helpful. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
If you want to have tools circular saws are a must have they are so universal and used for so much. We have 3 and we use them for so many things.
Excellent How To. Simple, clear and detailed enough for people to understand.

Great ideas! Especially Verde Craig fence on the circular saw; so much better than a tablesaw and the technique that he’s using is far more accurate.

EXCELLENT IDEA... keeps the draft out too...
How can you do this over concrete floors? I love this idea but we don’t have wood underneath our carpets.
Love the floors. I can't wait to see the final results. I wish I had someone who could work with me to do my home. Thanks for sharing this information. Love all of your videos!!!

my plan is to use 18g brad nails 2" long and put a thin strip of pl200 glue down to prevent movement
How would u apply it over concrete?

Great video! Can this be installed on concrete?
I would not install it on concrete.
Your home is looking sooo good! I love the floors!!
Would you glue it down if you had a cement slab?
Thank you so much for this video. It is so helpful and I needed to help me with my upcoming plywood painted floor project.
What kind of nail doe she use to nail it down ? the ring shank type or more like the stapler type ? And what is the dept of the nail burrowing into the sub floor it should be ?
This is some thing I have been thinking about doing this. My sub flooring is water damaged do you have a video for doing sub flooring?
What happen if the floor is uneven how you fix it? Other you put the wood but is a little space between so how you cover?

Restoring our house the hardwood floors are beyond repair going to rip them up and use ply wood thank you.
Do you have any videos on how you did a half bathroom?
We didn’t do this for the bathrooms and wouldn’t recommend it for an area that would get a lot of humidity and water.
What Guage nails did you use ? Btw this looks great
Can’t wait to see the finished floors, it’s looking great already!
Really great tutorial! What types of nails did you use with the nail gun? I plan to try this out in a walk in closet and might do it in my whole house if I like it!
Things are looking beautiful. ❤🌞😎
Does it have to be 3/4 inch thick or will half inch work?
Looking really good! Can't wait to see the finished floor.♡🤍🖤☑️🤍♡
NOTE:
While using the PNEUMATIC Nail Gun... Shoot it at an Angle... NOT Straight IN...
What type of nail did you use, and what size?
Did you allow for expansion? Great explanations. Thank you!
Great video, floors look absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

OH MY GOODNESS a you guys are wonderfully brilliant!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!
Hi, I'm thinking of putting up a floor, I was wondering what problems have you had after so long there has been a problem in your floor. to consider
Does the flooring have dents left in the wooden with furniture placed on it.
What if your sub floor is concrete because you have a slab, would you use the same roofing padding? If so what would you use to anchor it down, glue?
🤩Looks beautiful...cannot wait to see the completion of this project, thank you for sharing👍
Thanks for sharing such a great content, You all did great👍
Looking great! Love the dark floors. Can't wait to see it finished.

I love how it was shown... and I love the Narration of Mrs. Latina telling us what is going on...
