the issue is if they helped everytime it would encourage pirates to do these things. Its a double edged sword. And if say the USA always paid then Americans would have a huge target on their back at all times. Thats why they will not negotiate..

What they were doing in an African ocean all different nationalities who don't have nothing in common in one ship can we say they were fishing pirates also?
It’s crazy how everyone doesn’t see the perspective of the pirates who used to be fishermen but lost everything when fishing boats destroy the ocean habitation then dump toxic chemicals or waste afterwards. Thats why governments don’t intervene.....
I think that some of the blame does go to foreign countries regarding oil and illegal fishing, however, most of the blame seems to lie within the country itself; corruption, in-fighting, lack of good governance and law & order etc. How can a country be rich in oil and yet not wealthy unless some serious corruption has gone on. I don't believe that Somalia was some sort of paradise prior to foreign nations coming in and extracting oil. Although I do agree that it is indeed a crime the environmental mess the oil companies left behind in Somalia.
Still no excuse for kidnapping humans and terrorizing them. Some due end up dying because of the conditions they are left in. That's murder so how can ANYONE justify this? You can't unless you're participating in these criminal activities. Just horrible

So eat or get eaten
Let me give you my opinion on this as an Ethiopian. Many Somalis don’t like Ethiopians, but I strongly believe that Somalis have the right to defend their waters! Just because their country has been in bad shape in recent history and lacks a strong government capable of defending its territory, doesn’t give just about anybody to come and dump their waste and fish in Somali waters. For instance, imagine if Belgian fishermen came to Britain’s waters to fish after UK has completely withdrawn from the EU and had announced that nobody but UK citizens to fish in their waters? Do you think there won’t be consequences? Of course, it’s gonna be legal consequences since UK and Europe in general have a well established rule of law. But imagine if the UK government was weak to defend its waters, do you think UK citizens would just idly sit by and North African people to come all the way there and take advantage of their resources? Of course, I don’t condone killings but these Somalis have every right to stop outsiders from coming into their waters and catching tons of fish and dumping their waste because they think they can get away with it. Shame on all of you who’re looking at this situation solely from the fishermen’s side. Like I mentioned earlier Ethiopians and Somalis aren’t the best of friends, but this is apparent to see if you’re being logical and rational. You wouldn’t let a thief trespass on your property to take what you legally own. These people made a mistake knowingly or unknowingly, but I wouldn’t feel sorry for any fishermen who knowingly trespasses into a sovereign country’s territory to steal the resources that has legally been allocated to Somalia by international law.
Miskeen Ethiopian always trying to be kind and understanding even towards those who hate you. It won't benefit you defending bloodthirsty and coward pirates taking hostages in international waters.
I am not Somali but let me enlighten you about Somalia ! Somalia have Indian ocean and red sea also livestock blessed with minerals sits on Oil, but poor management and outsiders some super power are part of the problem. what i dont understand, especially on the bigger ships - why don't the sailormen arm themselves up? the pirates are usually in such a disadvantage in those tiny and certainly unarmored boats. of course, as a normal worker, i wouldn't wanna have to carry arms either, but it beats being taken hostage with unknown outcome. no pistoles of course, im talking at least rifles. am i missing something here?

I agreed completely. Giving someone else life back is untouchable, priceless, joyful, profoundly speechless. Take a life is easy, giving a life back is so difficult.
Thank you so much for helping them. God bless you all 🙏🙏🙏

Thank you from the Philippines!
Wow.. Thank you to the expertise of THE NEGOTIATORS and the kind Donors. The Hollywood should make a film of this great stories.
Giving someone back their life is what counts... Beautiful documentary....
Just for the record. The fishing vessel Naham 3 which is the subject of the documentary was hijacked in the waters of The Seychelles. About at least 1000km from Somalia.
Nope i heard it was Somali water
@@Abtigaa well I did the negotiations and debriefed the crew. It was hijacked near the Seychelles and the pirates ordered the crew to sail to the Somali coast.

Why are u thanking ppl for helping thieves? There’s a reason countries have EEZ’s and if you steal resources from within that zone you’re a thief!

God bless you negotiators.
Thank you 🙏
Their governments should have done much more to help them because 3 to 4 years in captivity is just insane. I really hope they have found a way to stop this from happening again. My prayers go out to these men.🙏
the issue is if they helped everytime it would encourage pirates to do these things. Its a double edged sword. And if say the USA always paid then Americans would have a huge target on their back at all times. Thats why they will not negotiate..
Cmon their governments are some 3rd world countries that know their fishermen were stealing some other poor 3rd world country fish. Why would they pay the ransom of captured thieves?
Having the same heritage background to these pirates, I feel very low!
They do not share the same human values than us

Funny how the diplomats and governments take the credit. These guys are angels
You would think a group like this can overpower some pirates.
Well, one guy with a gun is more powerful than a dozen with out it, the stupid thing was traveling near Somalia with out any weapons

@@jamesl4033 hhhhh my boy James, i live through logic not emotion, i am not a buddha, no need meditation here. Hhhh
Long rant for nothing. They got hijacked near Seychelles, about 1000km from Somalia.
Your right

Why are they fishing in the Somali waters in the first place? Knowing that Somali Pirates exist since the ancient ages
Technically they wasn’t in somali waters but close to them enough where the pirates found them at sea then made the ship go into Somali waters etc

They where coming to steal somali fish otherwise why are you so far from home.....I salute the pirates protect the waters my brothers
Absolutely agree with you. They try to paint them as the villains when they are literally just trying to protect their waters. Somali doesn’t have a functioning government so countries like British and others feel like they can just dump their waste there and steal as much fish as they want. Good on these guys for protecting their land. Every country has the right to protect their sovereignty.

No you can’t, maybe smugglers at worst but pirates go after ships, not fish
what i dont understand, especially on the bigger ships - why don't the sailormen arm themselves up? the pirates are usually in such a disadvantage in those tiny and certainly unarmored boats. of course, as a normal worker, i wouldn't wanna have to carry arms either, but it beats being taken hostage with unknown outcome. no pistoles of course, im talking at least rifles. am i missing something here?
