I actually really like this game, I picked it up the first time you talked about it.
Just to be clear: As a longtime fan and a patron, I totally understand you need ads to make this sort of channel work financially. Don't ever forget you're doing great stuff for the 40k Community, and I'll happily enjoy a quick ad if it makes your day-to-day one bit easier.

A great and underrated 40k book about the Dark Angels and others great factions is "Pandorax" by CZ Dunn. It has Azreal and Kaldor Drago fighting side by side, Abaddon being a smart Warmaster, A Bainblade tank fighting a greater demon and so much good stuff.
It is downright criminal, that it and it's tie-in short story about Azreal fighting Kharn the Betrayer isn't more talked about!
Why do I love the Dark Angels so much? Why am I always so geeked out when Baldy does a vid on them? For someone who doesn't play them I think deep down he loves them as much as I do.

This got my noggin' joggin'. If you'll indulge a glimpse into my headcanon:
A terrible fate has befallen the Imperium of Man. The Primaris Space Marines, the new breed of elite solders designed to usher in a new era for the Imperium, have turned to Chaos. As they were all built from the same core gene seed, they therefore possessed the same flaw. It was intentionally compromised by an architect of the gene seed, as they too were tainted by the dark powers. Chaos infused Primaris Marines prove to be The Imperium's greatest threat. Already faster, stronger, and more capable than your standard Marine, these new super soldiers were amplified, like their Chaos Marine ansestors, beyond their original limits. For all his attempts at securing the future of the Empire, Roboute Guilliman has now faced the fact that he may have well doomed it to utter destruction. Despite his best efforts, Imperial space is overrun as the fractured Marine Chapters cannot rally together to form a cohesive front against this new enemy.
Months pass, filled with bloodshed and loss. The Empire is on its back foot, giving planet after planet to the renewed and emboldened forces of Chaos.
News eventually reaches Terra that a massive unknown army is being mobilized along the outer edge of Imperial space. No fleet passing through the area is reported to have escaped. Guilliman, suspecting the worst, risks sending a scout fleet to investigate. Upon their arrival, the scout fleet observes what is later identified as The Rock, surrounded by a fleet so large that it could rival the legions of ancient times. Ships and equipment of every size and shape are being ferried about, loading and unloading weapons that have not been seen in over ten thousand years, and in such quantities as one would hardly believe they were ever deemed rare at all.
A booming voice comes over the scout fleet's VOX system.
"Sneaking around to see what we're up to? And here I thought that was our job. Lucky for you that your Imperial transponder was turned off. We would have blown you out of the stars as soon as you entered firing range."
The scout commander, hands shaking, grips the VOX mic and forces as calm of a composure as he can muster,
"And to whom do I have the honor of thanking for sparing our lives?"
The voice replies,
"I know that the Empire is in need of saving, has been for quite some time. I have a message for your Lord Roboute. Tell him that his Warmaster is coming. Tell him The Lion is awake...and he is hungry."

The Dark Angels video is by far one of my favorites of yours. One day maybe voice acting Azreal vs Kharn would be something that interests you? I say that because that story you made where the DA snaps the Inquisitors neck is just fantastic

One of the reasons I love dark angels is because it's like 3armys in one. A well painted detachment of deathwing or ravenwing is a sight to behold on the table top.

'Accompanied by the calm voice of Grand Master Sammael instructing his warriors, the rising and falling attack siren filled the decks of the Dark Angels’ strike cruiser Implacable Justice. All across the two and a half kilometres-long ship motors were growling into life and anti-grav engines whined. Hydraulics wheezed so that immense pistons moved Dark Talon and Nephilim fighters from their transport berths into the launch hangars that took up the majority of the ship’s bulk. The clank of chains and thump of pneumatics moved cascades of specially-constructed drop pods into position above yawning bay doors. Exhaust smoke billowed along wide corridors and across the metal aprons of the mustering halls; the clouds sucked away through atmosphere processors that would reclaim trace elements of minerals before the raw gases were shunted back into the air refinery plant and moisture extracted to keep alive those aboard the spaceship. Built to patrol for decades at a time, the Implacable Justice wasted nothing. The growl of engines became deafening as ten bike squadrons assembled, their high-density tyres leaving marks on the ferrocrete-lined passageways. Black as night were these machines, and black as night were the warriors that rode them, clad in armour of thick, rounded plates. Such was the nature of the Space Marines’ power armour that they seemed as much machine as the heavy motorbikes on which they rode; half-mechanical, half-living avatars of the Emperor’s vengeance. Each rider bore the markings of his Chapter: a white-winged sword upon his left shoulder guard, squadron markings and rank identifiers on the right. Each machine was marked with the symbol of the company upon its armoured flanks and wheel guards. Some bikes bore devotional scripts painted by the riders. Others were decorated with intricately painted wings and feathers in white. Each bike bore a name, an honorific given to the machine by the armourium when it was built. The riders knew the names and deeds of their mounts as well as they knew their brothers, though the secret of the name was shared only by the rider and the Master of the Forge. In the launch bays, Land Speeders glided into position to be locked into their drop-shields, the crews and machines encased in slabs of reinforced ceramite and plasteel. Warning lights flashed red as the drop-bay doors opened, the air within the launch chambers expanding into the vacuum as pale gusts of vapour and glittering ice. Every warrior was filled with purpose and the comm-net was quiet of chatter as Sammael steered his mount into the fuselage of a waiting Thunderhawk gunship. A relic of the ancient past, Corvex was a larger, more heavily armed and armoured cousin to the bikes ridden by the rest of the company, suspended a few feet from the ground by powerful anti-grav engines, the workings of which had defied replication by the Chapter’s Techmarines. Upon the front fairing, above the polished white rendering of a great eagle with wings unfurled, was bound the Liber Corvus, the pages of which were inked the names of all the Ravenwing who had died on the hunt. Corvex’s power plant growled quietly as the jetbike slipped forward, energy pulsing through armoured cabling to the plasma cannon and storm bolters mounted under the cowling. Unlike the other machines of the Ravenwing, Corvex’s name was well-known to all, its history entwined with the myths of the many Masters of the Ravenwing that had come before. It was this lineage, this legend, that Sammael now continued. Sammael was garbed in the black armour of his company, adorned with personal heraldry in red and white, inscribed with litanies of remembrance and devotion. Over this he wore the white robes of a veteran of the Deathwing, for no Dark Angel could become a company Grand Master without first passing through the ranks of the First Company. Gilded skulls and scrolled honours upon his ebon plate stood testament to centuries of battle and victories. From his backpack flowed his adamantine mantle, the white cloak woven with fibres taken from the cloak of the Lion himself…’
'Sammael guided his jetbike out of the Thunderhawk gunship. Once whole companies had taken to the field on such jetbikes, but now only Corvex remained. The rest of the Dark Angels Second Company, the Ravenwing, rode to war on rugged combat bikes - thirty of them disembarked around Sammael, engines thrumming. A white-painted band of bikers roared past. Their hair was woven into braids that whipped as they rode. Their leader had a battered, tanned face and a two-handed power tulwar strapped to his bike.
‘What a pretty steed!’ exclaimed their leader. ‘Khan,’ said
Sammael, not rising to the White Scar’s mockery.
‘Do you not feel isolated from the battle up there, my friend?’ said Kor’sarro Khan. ‘You must decide, Master Sammael, whether you are a warrior, or a man who does not want to feel the dirt on his face! What kind of man are you, Sammael?’
Every Chapter was different. The Dark Angels saw war as a solemn business of duty and sacrifice. The White Scars, on this evidence, saw it as a test of manhood and a contest of wills.
‘You have your targets, Lord Kor’sarro?’ asked Sammael.
‘We have,’ said the Khan. ‘And there is no time to begin but the present. I shall see you at the victory feast if you have the stomach, Dark Angel!’ Kor’sarro and his bikers roared off. Sammael agreed with the Khan in one thing. There was no reason to wait.
‘Ravenwing!’ he ordered over the vox-net.
‘Honour demands, and speed kills. Let both do their work.’ In a thunder of engines, the Ravenwing streaked off across the tormented plain...'

Things that I've found out while reading up on melee weapons:
Chain weapons are heavy and unwieldy, but they RIP AND TEAR when they hit. In game terms, most double the user's strength (making a hit more likely to wound), have an *ungodly* AP (-3 - -4), and cause sooo much damage per hit (1 - 4 / 2d3). The chainsword itself kind of breaks with the trend, as it does not double the strength, but gives you an extra attack, so apparently that's a nimble one? Half the others also have -1 to hit, and/or a rule that says that damage rolls are maximized against vehicles.
Power weapons are sheathed in a force field that just destroys matter, so cutting through something or somebody is like cutting air (unless the target is super in some way, material-wise or having a shield). Rules-wise, they're all over the place. Strength ranges from user to +3 for mauls, AP is -3 for blades to -1 for mauls. Their damage is a flat 1.
I think that could use some cleanup.
Chain weapons get -1 to hit, strength x2, AP -1 (maybe -2), damage 1d3, against vehicles damage is maximized.
Power weapons hit normally, wound on a flat 2+ or 3+ (since strength is not really needed and toughness does not help much), damage 2 or 3, and they get an extra attack.
I feel like that would reflect the narrative better. Opinions?
I agree power wepons are abit all over the place , I think it is to give the player lots of choice may it be extra strength or extra damage for different melee , I suppose we should find our favourites and arm warriors appropriately !
@@Duppyman695 If you build an army based on numbers, you don't care for lore and mechanics matching, and that's okay. I'd prefer the same range of choice rearranged to match the lore. That'd also make it easier to remember stats, since the lore reminds you o them.
Agreed , I also like to mix things up I have 10 Chaos Terminators with 2 Chain axes 1 power maul 1 chain fist 1 power axe and 5 lightning claws the ones with claws are my Bringers of despair

If there is one thing the internet needs, its a dramatic oratory of a valiant effort of the battle brothers of the Dark Angels in a pitched battle against a truly dangerous and relentless foe.
