- In this video I repair the rusted out lower windshield cowl area. I also take the dash apart.

Could you move one of those car ports over your cement pad where you work put a couple lights so you can work more at night even when it rains.

It's a wagon. It really doesn't matter if it's a four door. That'll be like turning a limo into a two door. It is what it is and it ain't what it ain't. All your cars look great when you're finished with em. I can't wait to see this NO MAD as well. She's gonna be a gem.

Excellent job, you do want the lock cylinder for the tailgate handle it engages and disengages the clutch. That parts car is a real savior. Keep up the good work.

Awesome work! I'm very surprised the 2-door windshield didn't fit. The wiper scratch could probably be polished out if you have to use the original.
Watching you remove the chrome and wiper arms really takes me back to the 1970s for a moment!! I was 14 years old when a guy opened a small body shop in my neighborhood, and hired my friend and I to work with him, when he had stuff for us to do! Back then we never used a slide hammer or a trim removal tool, the only thing we had was an old dental pick, and we got pretty good at removing wiper arms and chrome with it!! In fact we used that same pick to yank the GM door handle clips off too, and it is surprising how quick you can strip a car of parts, with little more than a tiny pick!! I will say though, those wiper arm clips can be a pain at times as the post corrode over time though!!!

Interesting video thank you. A couple of things. One whenever you mess with the VIN tag that can be problems. You made mention that she's going to have to but you're been tag back on it. Maybe it varies by state. But you're supposed to get a builder tag from the state. Interesting to hear what you got to say about that. Also talk about things going full circle and this is only an observation. Using a two-door to fix the station wagon. How many of these station wagons were used to fix the two doors back in the day? Just an observation of course the two door you're making very good use of my car that's cut up anyway. Growing up riding in these old station wagons it's nice to see people appreciate them. They were old when I was a kid riding in them. Very informative on the dash top replacement. I look forward to watching your video on the roof line / upper windshield area repair. When I upgraded the am radio in my 69 nova to an 8 track am fm. I took the factory dash speaker with the bracket and gutted the cone and wiring and beat it flat with a hammer. Then I got a pair of 3-1/2” speakers and mounted them from the bottom on the old speaker frame. I may be able to get my phone up there and take a picture if you want to see.
That's an option but I think I'm going to put 4 speakers in all the doors.
You should really buy some cheapo tripod for your camera, it'll make your life much easier. Eiher that or those headbands in which you can clip your camera so you could keep you content on a first person point of view, but with the freedom to use both your hands and not worry about your camera being hit or falling off.

Start soaking all your rear bolts in penetrating oil so they break loose easier when the time comes for the rear swap

That piece is available for between $210 and $500. I saved that by using a used one.

Well you can always put a mini Spool in the 12 bolt while you still have it out.

Here in Mississippi if you get tired of the weather Just give it 15 minutes and it'll change on you.
Gawd....I got notice of this vid & gotta say I've had the torturous displeasure of repairing that same area...it sucked so bad...I just cut a bunch of sheet metal strips & just went at it... probably just about emptied a spool of wire doing it to...😑

Make sure you cut around that VIN plate...it will save you some headaches with your DMV...look up the story about the C1 Corvette story in Kansas(I think). Sad story over a removed VIN plate during a restoration.
I replaced the complete lower cowl on my 1969 Olds Cutlass wagon. Doing a full resto-mod, the car is completely stripped to the bare frame.

Before you have another brain fart (LOL) and start burning the patch in.....might wanna make sure ur wiper transmission is in place :) Glad Kitty n Puppy are doing good!!! Sounds like Shadow needs a good flee bath since summer is here....she keeps itching n howling :( We got those ADVANTAGE FLEE N TICK in summer for our dog!!!
bigbobk1963: should do a flea bath on Pup with flea soap, soft brush, and hose topped off with good flea collar. I'm sure she wouldn't fight it. I would make a video doing it. It would be interesting because the animals are part of this channel also.

@@bigbobk1963 I gave her a flea and tick shampoo in the lake and put on a new flea collar. It's a never ending battle. I spray her with stuff daily also.
@@bigbobk1963 Yup she does like the lake but sometimes you have to scrub them down with a soft brush and a good flea medicine. Then a good collar as I'm sure you know. I hate seeing them scratch and whine. It's sad!!

Regarding the windscreen on the nomad, l would personally re use that screen and dress over the damage like you mentioned, could you use lens tinting spray to cover it maybe so you could blend/ fade in the edges of the repair ???, that car has a roadtrip ahead of it so you may as well take that old screen out on the road and sacrifice that one for to get the stone chips and scratches etc and get a new/better screen later on when you absolutely have to. Pointless buying more windscreens than you have to, get your money's worth out of that old one first.

Be careful welding that piece in there because if you overlap it, the curved part at the bottom of the windshield may not match the curve of the windshield glass.
My understanding was that a 2 door was different than a wagon. I bought a 70,72 Chevelle for my 69 wagon that fit pretty close but still wasn't perfect.
2 door window glass won't fit a wagon, too short.
All those GM cars from the late 60's into the 70's have that same issue I have a 1974 T/A and I had to take the windshield out and reseal it because it was leaking water and rotting the bottom of the dash out and I know so many GM cars are like that whatever they used for sealing the windshield back then would get old and the window would pop out even the back window too and it's always on GM cars I have seen that issue never Ford or Mopars
