Excellent video! You are correct, the accordion and concertina are integral in many cultures and the music they produce tug at your soul. My wife is a music therapist and would have loved this event. Thank you for sharing.

How could we find a list of the exhibitors? I'm especially interested in the hand-crafted leather goods and furniture, plus the art looks fantastic

Good question! As I mentioned, I couldn’t even find the event listed on the Atlapa website. I may have seen a list on the Ministry of Culture website.

They would do well if they had a way of selling on the internet. But shipping might be cost prohibitive.

Yes, I never told him but I think Jose told him I was from the US.
I looked him up, he’s got quite the story and longevity in the fashion world. His first collection was when he was 16! And he showed at the Atlapa.

Wow! That festival/craft show was amazing. Those Diablo costumes were exquisitely made and I imagine they are passed thru the generations. I’ve never seen anything like this in the US. Thanks for bringing this to us 😘

Wow! That’s disheartening about mail. When I lived there we mailed things all the time but we were military. I had no idea you couldn’t send mail. This is not great AT ALL. 😮

@@Pattybluehayes yes, we did. But I love to send cards, letters & gifts in the mail. This fact is quite concerning to me.
I am listening to many of your informative talks because I am still very interested in moving back to Panama. I have looked into this for years, researched it & read several books. My husband & I have been for visits twice since I lived there in the early ‘90’s. I am happy that Panama turned their country around to what they desired after 1999. It’s so wonderful. But I haven’t visited for over 8 years. So I feel out of touch.
I will continue to learn & perhaps take another trip down for an extended stay.
