Hi Nick and Leigh, I’ve worked in kitchens for about 30 years now and can tell you that most chefs get a bit annoyed with people ordering breakfast at lunch time, especially in smaller kitchen as the time is needed to prep for lunch and evening service, I presume the larger American kitchen have chefs on shifts or even chefs solely doing breakfast all day. I can tell you someone ordering a sausage buttie when you’re trying to prep more intricate dishes can be very frustrating in a small crew kitchen haha.
We want a sausage buttie all day long! 😂
I watch your vlogs everyday ad it brings me joy and peace. I feel that you “Guys” do a great job of keeping it real. You both LIVE LIFE together and it’s a wonderful example for everybody and anybody to see. You both have unique personalities that keep your Vlogs and channel a favorite 🤩 on my Home Screen 📺. I really enjoy the Van build, it’s like I want it done already so you both can take in the massive project that turned out great. Be proud because it’s quite impressive to see how the Van is turning out. Now go and get TAYLOR wrapped already, put the new piece on in the back and hit the road haha. Enjoyed your vlog as always and quite understand changing the number of days you will upload your videos. So much goes into the whole process of creating them but you have to be kind to yourselves and realistic about how it will work when you’re on the road. I can’t wait for the van travel vlogs. I’m tempted to start making soup now after watching you.

On the note of cafe and brekkie, as an owner of a few places we decided cut full brekkie off at 12 as making the brekkie along side the rest of the menu is too labour intensive and we struggle with timings to make sure everything comes out best it can . Still serve brekkie sandwiches all day as they are low maintenance. Hope this helps ?

Leigh, you should definitely read ‘The tent, the bucket and me’ by Emma Kennedy. It is hilarious and will really make you chuckle. If you like detective books, then I would recommend the Ruth Galloway books by Elly Griffiths - absolutely amazing. Loved today’s episode and totally agree with Nick about breakfast food not being served all day.
Definitely the Ruth Galloway books. Then you can go a road trip in Taylor and look at all the locations in her books. Also suggest A Gentleman in Moscow. One of my most fav books. Just made into a TV mini series with Ewan McGregor.
Simply amazing what you guys have achieved with this project in such a short space of time! (As well as fitting in a trip to Orlando and 2 trips to Paris!!) looking forward to seeing the European exploits!

It’s important to unwind the cable completely from a reel before you use it. Otherwise when you plug in you risk hot spots building up on the still coiled flex creating a fire risk. Some insurance companies won’t pay out if a fire has been caused in this way. We prefer a cable bag and always spread the flex out on the ground when in use. My husband keeps a cloth in it and dries/cleans the flex as he coils it around his elbow and hand before storing it back in the bag. He assures me the flex doesn’t get tangled.

I used to work in a busy Macaroni Grill here in South Florida years ago as a chef. When Nick was asking the question I thought about the “Why” and all I can conclude is that maybe the U.K. Culture takes each meal very seriously 😂. I will also add that a lot of the places they dine at are small so maybe the Kitchen needs to be switched out after breakfast service to make room for the lunch and dinner ingredients. So many reasons as to why. I do agree with Nick though, if the cafe has the ingredients they should make an effort and provide great service and show appreciation by taking an extra few minutes to reach into the refrigerator and grab the items to cook Nick some damn BREAKFAST at lunch! 🎉😅
A lot of people have said its because they make more money on lunch items, which makes sense. But they could maybe just charge a little more as a breakfast in the afternoon supplement ?
I agree with both of those statements. I will say this though, it is not cheap to go out to Breakfast either here in Fort Lauderdale. Look at the Bazza’s St. Patty’s Day Video…$4.99 for a glass of Orange juice and the price for the 4 pieces of bacon haha.

Leigh, you need to read the 44 Scotland Street Series by Alexander McCall Smith. The series is fantastic, plus it is really a fun read.
I use to work in a kitchen, breakfast chefs start around 4 - 5 am which will cater for breakfast shift before the the lunch and tea time chefs start, all down to staff labour, love your videos guys, would love to meet you 1 time, keep up the good work,

Most places stop serving breakfast because they have a smaller kitchen with not enough cooking space. Not sure of how it is in the Uk but in Canada you cannot cook breakfast foods on the same surface as other foods . You would need 2 separate cooktops and prep areas. Places in the US have larger kitchens that can have a breakfast foods cook area and lunch and dinner cooking area. There are a lot of health regulations that regulate this in kitchens here.

Great vlog Guys - I love the new throw, I think the end tassels add a slight touch of softness that contrasts with the harder surfaces, and the herringbone design looks classy. Question: what type of data storage do you recommend? I'm preparing for a long road trip and will be taking lots of photos/videos on my Samsung phone. With my version of the phone, Samsung took away being able to use a microSD card 😞 so now I need to consider backing up to a cloud service (Google vs. Dropbox vs. Samsung vs. ??...) what do you find good to use in these cases?
We use google photos to back up all our photos and google drive to store the odd file or two.
Hiya Guys, Nick you made me chuckle today saying "Does a dog s**t in the woods" when you should of said "Does a bear s**t in the woods" 😂
not in Yorkshire we don't have bears :)
Have some book recommendations for you. LJ Ross does a few books set in Cornwall starting with "The Creek". They are all set in different picturesque parts of Cornwall that you may have already seen, and if you haven't you can go visit in the van. They are thrillers, but a death in paradise type thriller more than so than a line of duty in intensity. Great video as always guys, thank you for your content.

I missed commenting on this in the vlog about Sewerby, which I enjoyed immensely, but the structure in the garden you were wondering about is called a folly. It serves no purpose, although it can sometimes be a focal point for part of a garden. It might come in useful to shelter from England's frequent showers!

Most cafes and restaurants in Portsmouth do all day breakfast. The mud could be decayed leaves which have turned wet sludge, I used to get it under an outdoor mat. Leigh did make me laugh with “ it’s not going to be throw gate after curtain gate” 😂
Thankfully it didnt turn into throw gate. We loved the throw

Today is the day where I have now finally watched all your video's right from the beginning. It is strange in all the changes. The kids growing up, Nick saying he would never go to Disney Paris at one point he said he would never get a van.

Usually love the vlogs, but we have zapped through lots of this video, sorry guys found it a bit boring watching you clean the bumper on the van. 😊

We used to do home vlogs every day for 2 years and people watched. The reason we went down to three is because after 7 years we wanted to cut back and have more of a life off camera and be able to do other things while still producing more content than most channels 👌

Why cant u sit back & say to YOURSELF, oh normally I love the guys vlogs but that one was a little slow, let’s see what adventures the next one is like! The End! Why? Do u think u know them that personally that u can tell them, their vlog was boring? It amazes me every time someone thinks they have the Right to speak negatively to someone they don’t know! I like reading fern Britton books. I think she is good writer and her stories are interesting light reading. Haven’t disliked any so far 👍🏼

I get all my books from the charity shop or National Trust second hand book shops! Great value and once finished you can pop it back!!

I am amazed that your van is beginning to look brand new! Especially with all of the work you are doing to the outside, the bumpers, removing years of soil from workers from the back stoop area. It is looking really nice now! And I love the interior. I didn't care for the pink material you had earlier, either so I'm glad you changed it.

I think they change menus as lunch type food is often more expensive than breakfast( more profits).Same with dinner menus,usually same food as lunch but more money.
Having worked in restaurants it never bothered me, but being on the other side, i have wondered why. If its a hot counter, i understand that they need space on the counter, but if its coming straight out the kitchen, i can only think its purely down to making things easier in a kitchen. It is frustrating as sometimes, all you need is a bacon or sausage sarnie
Yes, you dont always want a proper lunchtime meal, just a lil snack

I work in hospitality. Food cost of brekkie items are more expensive. Bigger margins in everything else. I work for a big brand though, maybe different for pubs, cafes, etc.
So I sent a message before I realised you went to eat where I work! 🤣 (the pesto sub is amazing, it’s being delisted though ☹️)

McDonalds also have cut off time for certain items here in the UK. Do they have over in the USA? I agree with Nick, and it doesn't make sense to me either.
A lot of people say its because they can charge more for lunchtime items which makes sense.
Thursdays in the Park by Hilary Boyd is a nice read. and a good mystery murder is Rush of Blood by Mark Billingham these are my go to books when on holiday

Mentioning cheese with soup, I recently went to Wensleydale cheese factory and had food and drink in the restaurant/cafe and they served cheese with coffee. A lump of cheese on the coffee teaspoon.

Agree with nick on breakfast for lunch! Can get a burger for breakfast in some usa diners. Also y can u get kids meals, as an adult, in the usa but not here grr.

Thanks. We think we have found a solution which you will see in an upcoming vlog. Not sure batty B and uncle B would be happy sleeping on a trundle bed but they do look like a good space saving idea
Much prefer the longer vlogs personally. Think it was a good decision to go to 3 a week.
