That sucks getting a bad batch. It can make you so frustrated thinking it's something you did only to find out it's not your fault. Looking forward to seeing the next video.
Yes , you're right , I got to the point that I realized that humidity wasn't the issue after dehydrating the chems and weighted them before and after , I think it's just a bad batch of Barium sulfate
I wonder if this is the issue im having at the moment. I hope not because i had about 1/2lb left of the pcs BS that i mixed in with my new batch from FWCB.
I think milling potassium dichromate with the ammonium perchlorate may do this .I milled them together like you do I had a silent strobe until I milled them separately and added them separately. My issue was solved. The potassium dichromate may get into the pores of ammonium perchlorate is my theory.
Test a theory a few times. If your results are consistent, let me know! It seems farfetched but I've been wrong before. Actually, I'm always wrong! Ask my wife

How did you came up with the idea of using potassium Chlorate? This is obviously not for you man !! Unless you want to blow up in pieces!! Why do you want to make a strobe motor wich is the most sensitive and complex fuel to make when not having any minimum knowledge of what are you doing?
I have a lot of potassium chlorate sir.. I have also succeeded in making a rocket using KNO3 sulfur charcoal... My intention is to upgrade to making a rocket whistle and strobe... my next target... I am also currently trying to make a rocket whistle with kclo3 and sodium benzoate.. the ratio is 7:3 + iron oxide to taste but it failed.. What should I do with this kclo3... to make a rocket whistle or strobe.... Can you give me one of the compositions to make a rocket whistle with kclo3? Thanks, sir
@@Fifa2023-p4l I heard of people using kclo3 and KHP or galic acid to make whistle fuels , but I dont , kclo3 easily ignites any fuel under friction and shock , also have the capability of igniting fuels a very low temperature , that's why is commonly used in colored smokes only. In other words , pressing a fuel with kclo3 is dangerous , ramming a rocket with kclo3 is suicidal.
@@thakurboys5962 yes , it is , they are poisonous , especially the potassium dichromate, strobe fuel is quite sensitive as well , it can be only pressed, never hand rammed.
@thakurboys5962 It's a learning process you don't start off doing strobes you will blow yourself up, I started with black powder, then to whistle and with whistle I started with benzoate and now Sali I want to try KHP but yet to get my hands on it. Strobe is something I still don't quite mess with yet as i just personally feel I'm not ready for it. We can't buy nitrocellulose here, only nitro paint, which is said to contain many impurities. Can I substitute it with other materials, such as petroleum jelly or paraffin?
@@Pyroflorida We can purchase celluloid ping-pong balls here, each weighing 2.7 grams. According to your formula, 3% nitro lacquer is required. Does this mean the nitrocellulose content is around 3 grams? If so, can I dissolve two 2.7-gram ping-pong balls in acetone as a substitute?
@@强张-n3n I heard that usually good quality ping pong balls are made out of nitrocellulose, so you should be able to dissolve the ping pong balls with acetone.
My recent video of my strobes show how the pops isn't really hard and it's the same barium from chem soure that I use in my videos that my strobe rockets is pops hard as hell
i checked and barium sulfate isnt considered hydroscopic so im pretty sure that is not what is wrong with thepyrochemsource barium sulfayte you have. Barium sulfate is always barium sulfate, and yes, it isn’t hygroscopic. Tim at PCS carries the most high-quality barium sulfate, AP, K dichromate, and magnaliums out there. The issue must be present unintentionally, as a recent unforseen contamination in the barium sulfate. My PCS barium sulfate from 2022 and 2023 function flawlessly, as well as strontium sulfate. If all else fails, switch out the barium sulfate for strontium sulfate. Oftentimes, strontium sulfate works better than barium sulfate and results in louder pops.
@@ShortFuseMan oh man thats funny you mention strontium sulfate cause i just got some in the mail yesterday and made my first batch of strobe with it, Im excited to test the motor i pressed because I ignited a little test scoop and the stuff was popping pretty good unconfined. it had a really cool pink flame to :D

All my barium sulfate is from FWCB and Ive had it quiet too but i think it was because I didnt put enough around the spindle and too much whistle.
