Thanks so much for the videos! The time and effort are greatly appreciated. Absolutely love your channel sir! I have a question I've made Sally whistle before. And I want to make some benzoate but I'm debating between sodium or potassium benzoate. Not sure if one of them's the alternative and one is performed more than the other? In your experience what benzoate do you use when making whistle. And I'm talking about just straight perk and benzoate. Since I'm preferably using the Sally for Lyft.
@patman0250 power wise from less to more power: Sodium benzo , potassium benzo , sali , khp , wow fuel Sodium benzo is more subject to absorb humidity but offers a high pitch whistle and a nice yellowish flame . Potassium benzo is slightly more powerful and offers a more graspy sound , with orange flame , it's also less bulnerable to humidity.
@@Pyroflorida Awesome thanks I'll try potassium benzoate first. But it's weird because the sodium salicylate I have I got from fireworks cookbook. It's extremely fine milled powder but when I look closely I see these extremely small little crystals that look like salt grains but they're so small I don't even feel them when I rub it between my fingers. Do I need to mill it or is that normal for sodium salicylate?
@@patman0250 yes , sali is usually milled to a fine powder and can be used right out of the bag , in case contrary sodium and potassium benzo are more granular an need to be blade or ball milled before use
I have copper chromite, no copper oxychloride. Will the composition be worse on copper chromite? My composition is 68/28 /1/2. Where 1% copper chromite. 2 wax.
How many grams of flash on that last rocket? Do you leave airspace or just pack full? I always pack, can you really tell a difference in airspace and no airspace? Some say its a deeper pop when packed full and some say its a quicker snap of a pop with airspace. Whats your thoughts?
There was about 10 grams only , just enough to indicate the end of the flight with a report. I never pack flash , especially if combined with titanium sponge , I usually fill with flash up to 80% of available volume and fill the remaining 20 % with a cotton ball, then a plug of molten hot glue . On this way the flash charge is not Pack but is not loose either. I always used this method so , I don't know the difference between packed or not
Another great video!! Why do you think the strobe was not popping loud on the second? I have the same problem sometimes. Did you use your 3 micron mg/al mix or standard 200 mesh mg/al strobe mix?
@NagashiChidorii I usually press strobe to no more than 6500 psi on the 1 pouders , this time I pressed the strobe to 7700 psi , even being the same strobe I have used before , obviously trobe gets affected when more pressure is applied That was mi standard 80-200 strobe
@@Pyroflorida i press my strobe to 7500 and i will need about 2inch+ of 200 mesh mg/al strobe to get good pops. I try your 3 micron mg/al and i dont know why but cant get good pops. I didnt think to try lower pressure for strobe, that could work. Have you tested that or what makes you think lower pressure on strobe allows louder pops?
@NagashiChidorii very easy answer to you. I make the strobe fuel always exactly in the same way , using the exact same chems , they are always popping very hard at 6500 psi , low pops at 7700 , hope this common sense answer makes sense to you.
So how long does it keep without the fuel stabilizer and how long does it keep with the fuel stabilizer? and does it change once it’s been pressed in the rocket?
@EADN20 motors should be used within a day or two after being pressed to avoid CATOs. I had fuel without stabilizer stored for a couple of weeks still performing well, but Cu.oxichloride will start degrading shortly. I used fuel stored for two months with stabilizer on it without issues
do you have any idea how China is stabilizing copper catalyzed whistles? I have a few "screaming cracklers" by brothers brand that are a short spindle blue fuel grain whistle motor. @husseinfakhreddine2501 tks. @nielgultiano7060 if double ziplock bagged all air from bag removed and stored in an air conditioned room fuel may be good for several weeks , specially when added the 1% of isotonic anhydride.
@pyro-t I explained in the video the benefits of water/alcohol granulation , but is not necessary, you can make the fuel in the traditional way . Yellow iron hydroxide is a great catalyzer wich I use on W.O.W fuel , it may work well with KHP but haven't tried yet.
@Pyroflorida okay thank you, another question that I have is how do you place your fuse ? I do it normally like a hook and then leave it near the bottom of the hollow. And on very fast fuels I do like a ring around the bottom.
I will try this! Look on my channel within the next month. By the way, I considered gray sali. on copper chromite. and always used this composition as a classic gray sali.
