Just watching a few of Ed Winter's videos last December where he debated college students convinced me to go vegan and I'm 65 years old. Yes, better late than never!

Absolutely agreed, for me it had to be in countryside of France - I was just shocked because it's not what you expect from Western countries that want to front as these beacons of 'social progress/sustainability'. Like, I have had more success in both Hungary and Mexico in the countryside 💀😭

So true that we're going up against the industry with all its marketing and power and lies. An industry that has managed to convince people that protein is the only important macro, milk is the only source of vitamin C and you'll get osteoporosis without it (nevermind that the countries with the highest milk consumption have the highest rates of osteoporosis), that cage free and grass fed mean happy animals in a beautiful bucolic meadow, etc. They've spent 150 years sneaking animal products into every single food to the point where it's, more often than not, difficult to find even a single food that's free of dead animals and their secretions. They've lobbied to get their poisonous products into school lunches and hospitals. They sell ads to kids to get them hooked from the start. Their rotting talons have grabbed us all.

@@itsdaynesh you know, now that I think about it, this dovetails well with your other question about myths. For me, the very most annoying myth about veganism is that it will define your identity. You don't have to take on a bunch of feminine traits, be softspoken, give up cars and BBQs, advocate for the environment, convert your friends, or any of it.
As cringy as it is, a lot of people associate eating meat with manlyness. The constant need to project manlyness at all times is something to solve for another day, for now it's probably a good idea to demonstrate that you can be manly and vegan.
There aren't all that many rolemodels like that in the community.
