@@anuragmukherjee1878 Usually roalties like that are bought out when a company gets acquired. Of course, Kevin would've had a considerable amount of leverage in that situation. Regardless of wether or not he still gets royalties, if that company really is worth around 100 million, he made great returns on that 75k investment.

Update or Wicked Cupcakes: A big company called Hickory Farms bought out Wicked Cupcakes for an undisclosed amouny which means a lot of money. The mom said she watched her daughter become a millionaire after the sale to Hickory Farms and Kevin O'leary made over a million dollars in royalties. In the end, it was a smart decision to take Kevin's deal.
Undisclosed does not necessarily mean a lot. That said, from what I know about the company, it was probably somewhere in the low to mid seven figures.
But what did they buy? Jar cup cakes are not patented.
@raulpardomorales7994 They bought the brand recognition. I read somewhere that by 2018, Wicked Good Cupcakes had become the premiere seller of cupcakes online. A larger company can swoop in and expand operations without the hurdles of needing to overly spend on advertising.

Ridiculous. She didn’t want Robert. He is a nothingburger in the baby business. He’s a tech security guy. Sure he’s successful and valuable, but he’s NOTHING compared to Kevin on this product and industry. She was simply trying to leverage Robert to sweeten Kevin’s offer.
And… The sharks and any shrewd business person negotiate in the same way. She was excellent and knew what she wanted and also knew her worth.

I hate entrepreneurs like that first one. Raise a bunch of money just to spend it for stuff that isn’t needed. Hiring 6 people for a business that doesn’t need more than a 1k investment and a storage unit is insane.

I think royalty deal’s actually make a lot of sense if it means the investor is more motivated to help sell your product for the kickback. I know I’ve heard Kevin in dozens of interviews talk about Wicked Good Cupcakes and he really promoted the brand after the deal. It was so he could get that 45¢ 😂

Being poor really does change your aspect in life even if you become rich. You still don’t waste crazy amounts of money on anything because you don’t want to risk going broke ever again. Being broke is something you just learn from in all aspects. And it’s clear to those who don’t know what broke is. It shows. The cupcake deal was insane😂

They are absolutely right. She thinks she is special just because she has a Harvard degree, which these days is a sham. I have several friends from Harvard. I am by far a more fluent writer, and I went to a state college. Having a Harvard degree doesn’t mean what it used to.

The Harvard girl was like "Im poorer than you but Im much better educated than you rich dooches" - she spoke and spoke and spoke and squeezed herself out to quickly accept what Kevin offered and forgot to negotiate with him....silly girl tbh, but in the end she got a deal, I guess that's what matters.
My mom was a Montessori teacher after she got out of teaching middle school math and English. She was good at it and our house was always full of Montessori tools. I was raised with it, and while I can't say it's the reason I succeeded in school, I ended up doing pretty darn well. So thank you mom, and thank you Montessori.
