It's not a crutch for her but part of her artistry. If you're new to Kimbra there's plenty of material of her not using auto tune in this way. And she is amazing.

It just fits her vocal style so much better to me. It also looks like she filled out a bit. She's always been a beautiful lady to me, but she just went up on that scale for me as I begin to see her newer performances!
