Not yet a legend, she is just getting stared in music and almost also in life. Use words wisely. An icon, yes she is. A star, indeed she is. She does have great taste.
She’s definitely got the old soul thing. Waify and girlish in appearance but when she speaks she has the regal depth of a much older woman. And her singing voice is so dimensional and rich and big. Fascinating.
She has 3 albums out: Vows has a really nice Jazzy indie-pop sound to it and her vocals are very expressive and interesting. The Golden Echo is a very avant-garde experimental R&B record, with layers upon layers of sounds in every single song. It may take a while to digest, but once you get what she is doing, you’re in for a good time. Her latest album Primal Heart is a more straight forward art pop record, but still has some very nice spacey sounds and interesting beats. Any of her albums is a good starting point since they’re all so different, it just depends on your musical preference.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra! Saw them open for Best Coast a few years ago. Blew my mind. It was my first introduction to them. I love that album. Great picks. Peace. ~Hanna
Loved this! I saw Kimbra open for Beck a couple months ago and was really blown away. That was the first time I'd heard of her. I enjoyed it very much. She even joined Beck on stage and sang "Colors" with him. I was on the front row and got some killer pics. Kimbra is beautiful & extremely talented.
Its interesting and fresh to see a young person not trying to impress anyone by picking vinyls from Coltrane, and actually talking about contemporary music at the time the person was growing up. The pick from Mars Volta, Radiohead and the Blood Brothers was very interesting.
Jack O he might just be saying it's typical for a younger artist to try and show off an older music taste and ignoring what's been out and good even recently.
I mean, I get what he's saying.. I just disagree. Just because you're young doesn't mean that you're showing off by picking older music. I'd rather see an artist pick what they genuinely enjoy than be boxed in by how old they are. Kimbra seemed to genuinely enjoy these picks, and that's great! But if another artist genuinely enjoys older artists like Coltrane, who are you to judge?
queen of _TASTE._ I knew she loved Björk and Radiohead, and it's so cool that she loves UMO and The Blood Brothers! all makes sense considering how much of an innovative musical chameleon she is
That WAS fabulous, cheers Kimbra, some new vibes to listen in to and it's very unlikely I would have found them without you having given us a heads up.
She’s like a very warm and worldly auntie or something that you see, like, every 10 years and changes your life forever and... Yeah. Something like that.
As soon as she grabbed “Post” and “Turn on the bright lights”, I fell in love with her. (I finished the video and I can’t believe that I listen the same music she listens)
I've never heard of Kimbra until now but apart from even that, the way she chooses her words to the collection of musical knowledge she shares, makes me feel a little lonely because it is often difficult to find someone who can make me listen out of genuine interest. This episode gave me some research to do....an assignment for personal development. Well..... thanks Miss Kimbra and Amoeba Records. Time to waste the rest of my day!!
I randomly bought one of her albums in the dollar bin at a local record store. Pleasantly surprised that it had no scratches and pleasantly surprised at the music.
Hell yes! That Mars Volta record is an all timer. And the video to Televators is amazing. I mustve played that album 100 times in 2003 and it is still in rotation
This is so amazing to watch, I'd love to be able to buy more music, but only a few of it comes into my country. Kimbra is still amazing and her taste is lovely!
Jason Varela you’ve never heard that Gotye song ‘Somebody that I used to know’ ? She sang on it and appeared in the film clip, she has also made music for a number of years and does an amazing cover of ‘Plain Gold Ring’ made famous by Nina Simone
0:40 Her videos were awesome because when the new release of winamp 5 came out with video streaming Bjork videos were streaming in HD 24/7 and I watched them non stop.
She's soooooo beautiful in each way :3 also now awesomely chill to maybe hang out with! Primal Heart is one of the best and sadly likely to be overlooked albums of the year.
I love Radiohead so much!!! Kid A and OK computer are the two of my favorite albums of all time. However as I grow older, I get attracted more towards In Rainbows
eurgh so many comments here smack of misogyny, because a woman is talking about her influences, about music, literally what she was asked to do, she's haughty or "histrionic" like wtf guys. love you Kimbra ❤
Never connected on anyone y’all have had on the shows tastes so much. Mine would have a lot of Death Metal and 90s Metalcore too but damn I love TMV, Radiohead, Bjork, Blood Brothers and D’Angelo.
The fact that you guys showed her picking up Jeff Buckley's Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk made me so freaking happy and then it wasnt in her bag and I was so sad hahaha. Loved to see the tiny snippet of her holding it though!
wow i love her voice so much

I wish I was kimbras bag
@@yehyeh644 lmao
I wish she'd bag me
She can clearly hear her own references in her music but at the same time is a work that's has her own personality. A true talent.
I love how calm and soothing her talking voice is but when she sings she sounds so energetic and loud and powerful. 💕
She's got great taste and knowledge, very articulate. Enjoyed this one.
Kimbra is a legend, icon, and star. Her music taste is fantastic.
Not yet a legend, she is just getting stared in music and almost also in life. Use words wisely. An icon, yes she is. A star, indeed she is. She does have great taste.
Almost every album she introduced seemed interesting.
First I fell in love with her voice
then with her looks
and now with her taste
she's amazing
Damn, she`s gorgeous. And she knows good music.
All this music she's talking about sucks.
What a cool lady Kimbra is!
A definite Blue Oni. ;)
Fabulous selection and great to see her enthusiasm for music
How can someone be this gorgeous
Talent, expensive makeup, and a personal hairstylist.
Oh, was that a rhetorical question?
well spoken and great picks
AAAH ITS THE QUEEN
She’s definitely got the old soul thing. Waify and girlish in appearance but when she speaks she has the regal depth of a much older woman. And her singing voice is so dimensional and rich and big. Fascinating.
@Marcus Layne Please people, don't fall for this. It's a bot with another bot that responds.

Listen to golden echo start to finish with good headphones and you're in for a good time.
Her 3 (US versions) are all great, recommended!

Her voice alone... like an instrument, an asmr hypnotist.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra! Saw them open for Best Coast a few years ago. Blew my mind. It was my first introduction to them. I love that album. Great picks. Peace. ~Hanna

Its interesting and fresh to see a young person not trying to impress anyone by picking vinyls from Coltrane, and actually talking about contemporary music at the time the person was growing up. The pick from Mars Volta, Radiohead and the Blood Brothers was very interesting.
What's wrong with Coltrane?
Jack O he might just be saying it's typical for a younger artist to try and show off an older music taste and ignoring what's been out and good even recently.

Jack O I also agree
how is that impressive lol everyone knows coltrane
queen of _TASTE._ I knew she loved Björk and Radiohead, and it's so cool that she loves UMO and The Blood Brothers!

Didn't really find anything by Cornelius that resonated until I heard "Omstart" just a few minutes ago. Lovely.
Kimbra is such a music nerd, I love it.
What a beautiful episode and woman...
Great choices. Have many of those albums in my own collection. The Steve Reich and Gavin Bryars albums are both simply amazing!
Zzz.
I could listen to her talking for days!
I love you Kimbra. I'm so sorry I missed your tour this time around.

I was thinking the same thing
Yesss!

Just discovered this series.
So cool to see an artist you love has a lot of the same taste as you, and get new recommendations from them
Her speaking voice, wow. Contrarily I don't have the words to describe.
Omg I love kimbra even more , most of these bands I love listening :0
I knew it, I always heard some of Björk in her voice modulation. This is gold, I was getting bored of my music, lots of new stuff to listen to.
So much great music I've never heard. I wish I had all the time in the world.

Time to waste the rest of my day!!
She could convince me literally any album is a masterpiece. Her passion and knowledge is super endearing.
Such a thoughtful beautiful human being.
I randomly bought one of her albums in the dollar bin at a local record store. Pleasantly surprised that it had no scratches and pleasantly surprised at the music.
wow didn’t know it was possible to love her even more.
Wow, this is the first one of these I've watched where I know all but one of the artists one of my favs has in their bag!
One of the most interesting "what's in my bag?" loved the picks and the explanations behind them!
She is amazing and amazingly beautiful.
Her new album is fabulous. This is a great series!
It really is! One of those albums I can listen to over and over.
Hell yes! That Mars Volta record is an all timer. And the video to Televators is amazing. I mustve played that album 100 times in 2003 and it is still in rotation

One reason more to love Kimbra.
Wish she spoke about the album. It's one of my favorites.
Thank you so much for the musical door you just opened in my mind
I love Radiohead so much!!! Kid A and OK computer are the two of my favorite albums of all time. However as I grow older, I get attracted more towards In Rainbows
eurgh so many comments here smack of misogyny, because a woman is talking about her influences, about music, literally what she was asked to do, she's haughty or "histrionic" like wtf guys. love you Kimbra ❤

The fact that you guys showed her picking up Jeff Buckley's Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk made me so freaking happy and then it wasnt in her bag and I was so sad hahaha. Loved to see the tiny snippet of her holding it though!
