Even standing still Doc is still in motion... moving his legs, arms, hands & head ever so subtly. He was a master showman & frontman. I saw him with TKA (my high school in 1975) & TA just so many times around Adelaide.

One of the many great things about Aussie rock, is that they all did their 'apprenticeships' in pubs and small venues, so they were ALL brilliant performers. Oils, Angels, Chisel, Aussie Crawl, AC/DC, all GREAT bands on record and even better live. THAT is music.

If The Angels were playing at the Bridgeway Hotel, Pooraka, you'd find me at the footlights. Such an amazing band to see on stage. You left an Angels gig bouncing off the walls. The rest of the world has no idea what they missed out on.

I was there with you front and centre at the Bridgeway. I was a bit obsessed for 30 odd years, followed them around Oz and OS. Got to know Doc well over the years, turns out he was a generous lovely bloke who never let me down. Universally loved, respected and admired by the best. The Angels should have been huge, but for some bad luck and questionable management decisions.

The Stars & Scandal also played similar lunchtime concerts at my high school in 1976 & 1977.

That doesn’t surprise me, I’ve read of several reports of Australian rock bands embarrassing the American acts they were supporting.
In 1987, I saw Bon Jovi here in Sydney, and they were blown off stage by the Choirboys, just over a year later I saw Gun N Roses, and their support act The Angels completely blew Guns N Roses off stage.
In 1979, AC/DC blew off Aerosmith.
