  • A 2008 1.4 Petrol Hatchback Peugeot 207 with no brake lights, 10A fuse proved to be ok (F9 , 10A Blade fuse in Fusebox in engine bay)
    Bulbs were all ok so it must be the switch, as appears to be a common occurrence in French cars with this type of arrangement.
    This video shows where the Brake light switch is located, how to remove and refit, and how to repair and test.
    Other videos are available but aren't exactly clear on where the switch is located or how to remove it.
    I'm not a Mechanic so if you're at all unsure about tackling this job yourself, please take it to a garage for professionals to help you.
    I bought a used/tested switch from ebay for £20 but you can get them for around £10. They might look different to what you see in your car but it's because the plunger is extendable/adjustable.
    Hope this helps.
    If it does, please consider leaving me a comment, or even subscribing to my channel.
    Cheers,
    Bob

    Thanks for the video! I did this today. The actual work only took about 5 minutes, but I spent time finding it, and messing around trying to take off the glove box. For anyone with a Peugeot 207 1.4 HDi diesel - it's very simple. Up behind the glovebox. No need to remove the glovebox, just bend down and get flexible.

    Great help, break lights would only work now and then watched your video got break switch out cleaned terminals and put back in and glad I watched your video to the and otherwise I would have made the same mistake by not pressing the break down while putting back in. Break lights working perfectly. Thank you you saved me a few pounds

    Brilliant, informative video thanks. We have side lights and no brake lights at all. Will check bulbs first but this appears to be the most likely fix thanks

      @@bobgriffiths Yes. If not your video I wouldn't think the switch housing could be opened. Cruise control was not working in my 307, after cleaning contacts inside the switch everything is working back like a charm. So thanks again! :)

    Thank you so much for the video! I wish I’d watched it all the way through the first time as I tried doing it myself and had your problem of the lights permanently staying on. I was also doing it myself and so couldn’t do both jobs.
    I’d pushed the switch all the way in as that was the only way to get it to turn into place, and it seems that little piece of red plastic is perhaps a locking mechanism of some kind?
    I couldn’t get the switch to turn into place the 2nd time but my wife spotted the red plastic wasn’t in the same position as the old one, and lo and behold she fitted it fully extended while I had my foot on the pedal.

    Same position on 208 under the little cover but a bit of vent in the way that you just need to bend out. May be the same switch. I got a cheap replacement for £8 and it did not work so got a better one for £13 and it was fine.
    The switch automatically adjusts itself on assembly and on the 208 does not work properly if removed from mount to press manually.
    My lights kept coming on for 80% of the time.

      thanks for the tip about the cover over the switch on the 208. Hope this has helped in a small way somewhere! Have a great christmas!!

    TIP: If cruise control is not working probably the brake switch is faulty

      THanks sir, that's always a good tip! This car doesn't have Cruise Control but I can see how that would work like that for a faulty brake switch. Cheers for the comment too!!

    Faults are connection between ECU and brake light switch. I have the Brake Switch part but didn't come with wiring/cable. So I'm afraid if I change it the faults will stay and keep throwing me in limp mode... how/where can I find the wiring??

    • @bobgriffiths
      @bobgriffiths  2 года назад

      I'm sorry, I wouldn't know where to buy the wiring from but you could possibly replace the cables between ECU and switch by pulling in some single cables. You'd obviously need to google the wiring diagram to see where they go though. Might be worth changing the switch over first and see if it resolves the issue before going down that route.
      If you still have issues , take it to a garage, and they can check it out for you. Thanks for watching my vid..

    Hello, somebody can help me, where is the left hand drive (EU) brake light location? I cant find it, under the glove box.

    • @bobgriffiths
      @bobgriffiths  3 месяца назад +1

      I don't know but I would suspect it's in the same place, if your glove box has moved to the right side, it might be just above the pedals. Have fun.

      sorry I don't know how that might be the case, it could be working but registering a fault if the detection cable is not right, best take it to a garage I think.

    Hi
    peugeot 2008 (2018).
    Maybe you know why the transmission is stuck on P?
    It mostly happens after a few hours that the car is standing.
    I step on the brake pedal before trying to shift to P.

    • @bobgriffiths
      @bobgriffiths  Год назад +1

      Apologies, I do not know why that is the case, it sounds like you are in an automatic and this was a manual transmission vehicle. I suspect it might be wise taking it to a proper mechanic.. Thanks for stopping by though.

      @@bobgriffiths This is a new car. I am first hand
      I thought it might be the light sensor.
