Hi Andrew I really like the shade Rollers. My daughter did the same thing on one side of her deck and it works great. You did a really nice install looks neat and professional. Great idea!! 🌞🇨🇦
Have owned that brand for 5 years here in Texas. Make sure you order the end caps on the rods. Over time they will break. When the wind picks up, it becomes a sail, be aware of that. I have had them for 5 years though, over all...good product! Been a subscriber for about a year, but always watch on my TV. Good luck on your future projects!
I have an idea for the hooks on the bottom. How about a flower pot around the poles that can hide the bungee cords in or around them. Especially because it sticks out but also still looks pretty with flowers around them.
@@TKCL I know you want the pool there as well. Maybe a flower pot that in on the floor going up the pole that can also conceal the cords and your next projects
Those look the same as ours at the barn. We cut them down with a chop saw to make them fit and put the caps / ends back on then heated the edge of the fabric so it didn't come undone.
Looks great! One thought I had if you want the bungee cords to pull straight down is you could mount the holders on a bracket with a hinge, so the bracket would lay down flat against the post when not in use.
@@TKCL I just had another idea, instead of a hinge you could also make the bracket removable. So maybe something like a hole in the post it would slide into. Then you could just pull it out when not in use, plus then you could put holes at different heights so you wouldn’t need extra holders.
Nice job! On your outside, build a bracket like the one holding the shade at the top, so it looks symmetrical top and bottom. Then attach those bungee holder.
Get a flat door plate that is usually put on the wall to prevent the door knob from busting drywall for the end at touches the siding. that might work.
These are pretty cool. My neighbor had something kind of like that that was split, it had a magnetic door where that you can push open that covered his garage doors. I was thinking about just using something like that for a screened in porch that I could remove pretty easily if it got too windy and when I didn’t want it to be covered. It just use Velcro though and I’m not sure that would be strong enough long-term.
Looks great! I didn't know they made roll ups with shade sail type fabric! Wonder if they make them Roman Blind style 🤔. I might consider that for my west facing porch in AZ. Still wondering where you're coming to hang that porch swing? 😉🥰
@@TKCL wasn't sure what town but valdosta is a booming town near the state line. Do you have any commercial produce growers near by.? One of my family members would go to quitmam/valdosta area an buy a truck & trailer load of veggie to resell.
Nice addition to your porch area Andrew! That sun can be brutal, you've reclaimed your porch! Have you thought about installing a hinge on the outer post that could fold down when not needed but when opened would allow the shade to be pulled straight down? Don't know if your OCD is kicking in but thought it might be an idea? Folds flat when not used bit up and out, with the plastic bracket connected on the end when you do. Anyway, lol. Enjoyed it!
get black iron pipe drill into post and run pipe half way in so the pipe can be taken in and out and extend past pole to the bracket length you need. when you decide to do something else years from now just frill in drill hole with dowel and send flat
You could mount those on the backside of your gutters are on the facia board and not have to worry about those mounts at all, it might stick over a little behind the house but if you just put it on the roof you wouldn’t really have to worry about the width of the polls. It looks like it might be long enough heat up to you work around or move one of the gutters over a few inches but it’s another option.
@@TKCL good point. It would be interesting to see if you could cut them down a little to make them fit the way you want. But I think it looks pretty good the way you have it set up, I would probably try to come up with a way to clamp the bottom down better, just because you have so much wind there but it might be better just to let it go. You might even find a way to tie the two of them together just to keep it from being able to swing over towards the window so easily if it’s blown really hard. I definitely think the idea about putting the chair footer on there to keep it from messing up the paint on the side of the house is a good idea, or at least I felt pad on that end.
I am so glad to see these open roof structures l After seeing an earlier video of your TORNADO WIND DAMAGE, I became concerned ! Also in an earlier video, when you screwed the cellular antenna to the top of the roof, I saw the house roof move l If you would install a set of cross hatch cable or threaded rods, between several roof supports , it would ADD to the side wise stability of the roof supports ! As a thought, you have MORE open wind sail structure than Columbus had as sails on his ship crossing the ocean !
That was the man lift basket moving, not the house. We've already been in some nasty thunderstorms and I have not seen or heard anything budge an inch on the house.

Andrew could you overlap the shades in the middle by putting the outer one in front of the one by the house? That way the end one doesn’t stick past the post?
Man those shades are pretty awesome I'm surprised you don't have a 3D printer you could build your own brackets 🤷🏽♂️.. also that outdoor kitchen is coming out pretty nice 👍🏽
Hey Andrew, it looks like if you wanted you could have cut them down, then maybe roll the screen over or Mrs Tiffany could put a hem where you cut the screen. I know it's too late and it looks good, but just an idea!!!
Andrew you're going to find out one more thing about me I used to hang roller shades and mini blinds for customers I used to have until I had a medical issue that I couldn't do it anymore
Just secured at the bottom I would consider making a bracket that screws to the post it just holds that pole down tight. Just a little piece of metal that you could easily tighten down with a wingnut it would hold the polls in place without the bungees and be much stronger. When I’m watching the video I’m wondering if that thing blew up and swung in towards the house if it would reach the window. 🤔
@@TKCL that would be cool. I also bought some magnets off of eBay. They’re made for screwing under a table or a cabinet to hold a gun but they’re very strong magnets. Then you could just put a metal park or some thing in the post and drill so you can counter sink it so it’s flush but those magnets were very very strong and they have bigger ones that are more of a rectangle shape as well. That might be a thought but I’m sure you’ll come up with something pretty awesome
Hey Andrew, I hung one of those on my back porch some time back. To hold it down I skipped the bungee things and grabbed some clips, parachute cord and and hold down I anchored in the concrete.
