Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. #Vanlife was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 #celsius
As a native Minnesotan, and hearing you talk about no mosquitoes and then the next clip is of you getting attacked by all of them, had me rolling 🤣🤣 because I knew it was coming
The part that got me was “at least there’s no mosquitoes today!” during the daytime 😂😂 everyone in MN knows those suckers only come out at night
Same!
Same lol
Omg! I stopped the video and laughed my butt off. I showed my husband and we almost cracked a rib, laughing so hard. We’ve like, wait a minute, they’re on their way!!!
Reminded me of being on an airplane infested with mosquitos. From Hong Kong to NYC....
Is it just me or did everybody love Sarah's personality? A sweet addition to the crew. 🥳
She's a star!
I agree. I'd love to see more of her and Dusty in the future.
Yeah, she talks just like my local tv news traffic lady. Like all happy and chirpy even about a deadly rollover. Except Sarah is really cute. LOL. I'd bet anything she is in media.
Why aren't you eating some of the fish?
agree!!!
Sarah is the most positive person and honest one I’ve seen as a RUclipsr. I love her energy!!!
Me too!
As a Native Minnesotan and someone who goes to the Boundary Waters every summer, I had a lot of fun watching this. You got extremely lucky with the Mosquito that year because of the wildfires and dry temperatures, because the way they were at night is usually about how bad they are in the daytime.
😳😳
Yes they could have been swarmed
Scrolling through RUclips, clicking on the 'RUclips' logo to go back to the front page - just to see a new 38-minute video from these guys... On a Sunday... that's happiness right there. Haven't even seen it, but I know I'm gonna love it!
Ditto! So happy, watching my family is getting ready to leave
You WILL be HOOKED 😃🤪😂😂🥱😁😘😊😴🥳😢😤🎶🤪😃😁😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👈🏻mostly
It ended and we were like... Did 38 minutes seriously just go by?
Lol I share that feeling. This couple is simply amazing!

I was one of the people who filled out your state survey and as a Minnesotan, I was happy to see you choose this experience as it was one that I suggested probably along with many other people like you mentioned. Hope you enjoyed your time in MN!
As soon as they mentioned the skeeters, I felt bad for recommending the Boundary Waters.
@@SuzieNerds Yeah, but if you must brave them might as well be in the beauty of the Boundary Waters.
Where’s the form and is mi still open?
@@kobesolomonson8219 I am not sure if it is still open. It was linked in which ever video they announced the state goal in I believe.
This definitely NOT my idea of a good time but I so enjoyed living vicariously through you! While I love love your international travels this is my favourite video of your local travels thus far by far!
Nate “I’M SERIOUS THIS IS THE CRAZIEST THING I’VE *EVER* EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE!” Dang out of all the things y’all have done that’s a really bold statement😜

Dusty’s wife is sooo positive!! She reminds me of Kara! Y’all must have had so much fun!!
Def runs in the family bc Dusty and Nate both got themselves a good one
As a MN native I’m so happy you guys are enjoying the beautiful boundary waters! It really is a hidden treasure for wildlife and amazing fresh water. It only feels right to let you know right now there is a Canadian oil company clearing forest and digging up natural land, miles from you, to lay large pipes to drill oil. We have to speak up against and expose the cruelty currently happening to the sacred land of the Ojibwa and stop Enbridge from further ruining our environment.
As a Manitoba resident, we don't want the oil companies clearing the forest and destroying natural lands either.
Yet your using a device that in some way shape or form was made from oil
I'm sorry but what is or was it that you do or did for a living?
Drive a car?
Use plastic?
You see where this is going....
@@Jesse-bb4qj at this point in time how do you feasibly expect somebody not to have a single thing made of plastic? seems like an unreasonable argument :p
I am from Minnesota also
Dusty is such a kind soul and you can see how he loves being with Kara and Nate.
Really appreciate your genuine love of adventure and just enjoying being together. I’m not sure I could do a trip like this with my wife, brother, and his wife and be as positive and encouraging as you guys were!
As soon as you said the mosquitos weren’t bad I knew they had to be coming, that clip hanging the bag is hilarious 😆
I was thinking the same thing I was like it’s not dark out yet just wait

Haha you never know what you’re going to get!
the boundary waters are absolutely stunning, I’m so glad that people chose for you to go there.
only thing is, during the summer at night time they will 100 percent get you if they can
As a person that has canoed the boundary waters twice, 9 day treks, over 100 miles each trip,...I was yelling NO!! When you pulled water from the lake right by shore, that's very dangerous. And the scene of fighting mosquitoes was hilarious and true, it happened to us one night

Yeh I agree. But this was a different adventure.they had to trust someone else to plan it. Also they had to physically work like portage and carry their belongings and food. I think this was the hardest thing they have done yet. J.m.o.

I did this trip with my father and sister back in the 60s. Incredible memories :) One of the best memories was on the last day we camped on an island and found a bag with food and a note saying "we had food left and help yourself"! We ate a jar of peanut butter :)

Hello world
@@KaraandNate
Too appreciate the 6 foot wingspan of the Eagle you really have too see it take off in flight in person like you guys did.
@@KaraandNate pls come to Texas soon
I did that sort of trip when I was 13 years old. Packed everything we needed to survive for the week. Did 7 MN lakes in 7 days, portaging and camping 6 nights on the shore of the lake for the next day. It was the most awesome trip! Watching you brings memories back! 💕✌ I don't remember any mosquitos. 😂😂
I don’t know what I would do without you guys when I see your videos it brings such a big smile to my face keep making videos because it brings so many people so much joy!
As a born and raised Minnesotan, watching Kara and Nate experience their first witching hour( the most active time for mosquitoes) was hilarious. Glad you all had fun!
Can't wait to see you all in North Dakota.
It really made me laugh I knew it was coming 😂😂
My husband did this with his troop when he was 16, him and his friends talk about it all the time when they get together(they are all now mid 30’s). It was so much fun to watch it with him, watch him laugh and have home tell me all about his experience. Love this definitely one of my favorites so far!
Me too one of favorites so far because it reminded me of how nieve I was when I moved from southern Ontario Canada to northern Ontario. Canada. Where there are l a lot of everything from black flies, to deer flies, to horse flues, to misquiots × 100. And do not wear makeup. Deodorant. Pufume. And no dark clothes. I learned the hard way. got bitten so bad that I thought I was going to loose my hearing and had bites all over me. Even in my hair. I learned my lesson.
I love how you set up each day with like a heading! It’s even better that it is done like the TV friends! My fav show!
I have to tell you, I LOVE that you guys are making longer videos (I get immersed in the video) and I LOVE those trips that you guys are taking. With this one, and the ragbrai too. I love it!
Being a Minnesotan, this is definitely my favorite video. When we go to the boundary waters our favorite meal was squeezable pb and J on tortillas. The BW was definitely one of my favorite experiences growing up. 10 days, 22 miles. Worth every agonizing moment lol!!! Thank you for enjoying our state!!
Less than an hour of paddling a day?
@@benhavens9682 yep. Lots of portaging. Worth it!! There were 10 of us
Nate saying “that’s the hardest thing I’ve done” should be a drinking game.
I enjoyed watching your boundary water canoe trip. Im 67 years old and have made 4 trips to the boundary/quentico area. The last trip about 10 years ago I enjoyed having the Kevlar canoes. The old aluminum canoes we had weighed twice as much and were like paddling an oil can (not streamline) like the Kevlar canoes. Fishing was always great and we would enjoy fish fry's for dinner.
Loved this whole trip! Sarah, Dusty, Kara and Nate are great together and throughly enjoyed the trip vlogs! Kara and Sarah...y'all are beautiful!
As a native Minnesotan, you had me laughing so hard when you first thought there weren't any mosquitoes and then the next section was you guys acting like you were going to die 😂😂 you are correct though, they come out preciously 30 minutes before sunset every night😂
I’m losing it!!!! 🤣😂🤣😂 Is it evil that I get so entertained by visitor’s reaction to our “state bird?”
IKR 😅
I live in Michigan, and we get mosquitoes, but NOT THAT BAD..I was just laughing because I’ve been their; battling the mosquitoes, trying to get inside before they chew you up. Love the comment btw

as a minnesotan, i’m so happy to see others enjoying our state, especially the boundary waters!! up north is our little slice of heaven and i hope you enjoyed it as much as we do!
Seriously.....y’all have the best attitudes for this kind of trip. I’ve been on many when I was young & to me keeping a good sense of humor & ability to go with the flow IS the difference between a crap trip & one I’ll tell my Grand kids about.
I’ve watched these videos a couple times but this is the first time that I noticed Nate mimicking Kara!!!! Totally hilarious!!!! Kara and Nate I love your energy and smiles and looking forward to seeing more of your adventures
You two had me buckled over with laughter swatting at mosquitos in your tent!! A native of Minnesota, I've been there and it's hell!! You are troopers. The silence, stillness & beauty are definitely a draw. Thank you for the laughter & fab storytelling💕 Good to see Dustin again & his beautiful wife. She is adorbs !!
I laughed so hard when you were commenting on the sunset and mentioning there were no mosquitos. I actually said out loud to myself "oh they are coming"! Grew up going to the BWCA and sunset time is head to the tent time.
I did the same thing! They were like “there is barely any misquotes! It’s crazy!” And I said to myself “oh, just wait!”. Minnesotans know and are used to the swarming!
Same lol I said oh You all just jinxed yourselves

By far my favorite Kara and Nate videos. This trip is just the best
As a former boundary waters guide this made my heart so big. You southerners ❤️ took to it all so well. And everyone learns the mosquito war/put up your bag ASAP lesson. Also, died when you saw a bear on your first day. I haven’t seen a bear up there in years. But I was sad you didn’t get to seen any loons or otters 😭! Maybe in the next video? If you go to the BWCA again, come in early September. Not a single bug but warm weather, warm water.
Kara and Nate getting us all jealous of their life every Sunday!
ok
HAH! not this time....I live in Minnesota (same house 25 years with a mini lake view from my house surrounded by trees!)
Not everyone lives this way? I'm sorry
The jealousy is getting bad😜🤣🤣
They do have some pretty epic lives!
If you two stopped tomorrow, you have seen and done more than most people in a lifetime. Thanks for keeping us entertained!!!
in these times, I thank you Nate and Kara, your energy picks me up and I really appreciate you all, lots of love and greetings from Canada 😄😄😄
It's funny that since Rick talked Nate and Dusty into biking the Colorado trail, that you all have caught the nature adventure bug. I hope all of you continue these challenges/adventures together. I love seeing all the hilarious and sometimes painful things you get into. I hurt from laughing watching Kara running from the mosquitos. This video is only half over and I can hardly wait to see what's next.
This was seriously way more entertaining than I thought it would be…
Kara: the bugs aren’t even that bad…
Next shot Nate is getting eaten ALIVE by mosquitoes 😂😂😂
Fr it was so entertaining
the bugs were crazy!
It's breakfast time for the mosquitos and you're the only warm blooded creatures around.
Dusty is such a troll. "Get the lighter let me see if it's leaking." LOL
Sarah is like my favorite person on the planet! Her positivity is just👌
I totally chuckled when Kara said there were no mosquitoes! As soon as I got done thinking "Just wait, its not sunset yet", they cut to the mosquitoes. That happens in Oregon, too.
Kara and Nate with Eamon and Bec?! That’s the content we NEEEED!
YESSSSSS
100% agree
I am pretty sure that the boarders are opening up again!!
But this is Dusty and Sarah
YES BOTH EMONE AND BEC AND SARAH AND DUSTY
I spent a week canoeing the Boundary Waters many years ago. It's still a highlight memory.
This looked so fun the relationship you all have is amazing I aspire this kind of bond with family and friends one day
I’ve done many backcountry canoe trips, and have even taught canoeing once upon a time. Your video is a pretty accurate reflection of the highs and lows of a trip: peaceful, beautiful scenery and body destroying portages. I must admit I did wince every time your canoe touched a rock, however.
Those rentals get sold every so often. The nose on the canoes gets thick with all the patches!!
So I'm just curious do you by any chance know why they only have one person carrying the canoe? I have canoed my whole life in the Northwest and we have always had two people carrying a canoe. LOL
@@laurao8099 It's actually much much easier to have one person do it. The canoes they are using are super light so the weight isn't much of a problem. My canoe weighs about 50% more than theirs and the aluminum canoe you saw from the other eople weighs about twice as much as theirs and neither of those options is much of a problem. Trying to portage with 2 people carrying a canoe is a navigation nightmare.
@@stephenr3827 LOL well then, I significantly aged myself by asking that question!
Yes finally! Love these longer style videos. 40 minutes of pure excitement woo hoo!
Watching this for a second time. Sarah did an amazing job planning this!
I love this video sooo much. All the funny moments, Nate carrying the canoe was hilarious, and it was so beautiful
In Mi’kmaq culture a bear represents courage and the eagle represents love ❤️, I just had to share and can’t wait for more videos in this trip!

I can't express how much I enjoyed this video~ The comraderie, the nature, the experience - all wonderful. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
I haven’t finished watching it yet, but it’s a good sign that it’s uploaded right? Lol. Looks like no one died lol. It’s never good when someone says how bad could it be, right at the start 😂
I'm so glad you all are having such a great time! I'd be freaking out about the bear! I'd find it very hard to sleep after that encounter...

The best section is the mosquito apocalypse. I’m literally crying from laughing so hard.
I have shed many tears as well both in the moment and while editing it 🤣🤣🤣
@@KaraandNate I bet and could totally tell when it was happening you were laughing really hard too!! I’ve had major mosquito moments like that when visiting Alaska.
@@KaraandNate I am not going to lie having done a 2 week canoeing trip up there in the boundary waters on the Canadian side "The Quetico" that I was going to start cracking up the moment Kara said the bugs haven't been a problem. As you discovered there is a Misquito hour and it is at that point that en mass all of them will come out and start swarming. Had nights were you just wave your hand and you were smacking them out of the air because there was so many
Small addition, but what you can actually do is instead of putting up a bear bag, because they literally don't do anything, you flip over your canoes on your side and put the bags under one while using the other to weigh down the first. Makes for so much less work and makes it so the bear would have to move all the canoes.
They mostly come out at night...mostly
Saaaame omg hilarious

The shot of the eagle was absolutely beautiful and probably my favorite part of the whole vlog!
During Sarah's previous appearances we heard very little from her and I assumed she was just shy or didn't want to be on RUclips. Now here she is fully interacting and she's just delightful!
I grew up camping and going on canoe trips so this video was funny for me. AND the fact that your canoe had shoulder pads, WOW WHAT A LUXURY
I have never laughed so hard with your videos - the bear-yelling, the mosquitoes attack, Nate saying "Canoe the boundary waters, they said. It'll be fun, they said." Thank you for your videos, plus on a Sunday - GREAT surprise!
I have to admit ...I love your overseas travels, the flights and cool lounges but I really do enjoy the ones with Nates brother Dusty. And the wicked adventures! All on land adventures should include him and his wife 😁
Thank you so much for sharing your lives and adventures with us.
I am from Eveleth, Minnesota but now live in Utah! I absolutely loved this video. It was so nice to see the homeland. So funny about the mosquitos! You can be fine all day, but just as it is starting to turn dark, you had better run for cover! A few years back my son and I was fishing on a lake in Northern Minnesota and I told him we need to head in. He was wearing shorts at the time but he fishing was awesome. He said no let's keep fishing! He had 20+ mosquito bites on his legs the next morning! Thanks again....great video!
I love seeing Kara and Nate back with the home town family and friends. You start hearing their Tennessee twang and it’s so cute ☺️
Enjoyed your transformation from "rookies" on Day 1 to the start of becoming "seasoned vets" by the end of Day 2. Remember, it's not a vacation. It's an adventure. Enjoy every moment together!
Interesting journey so far. One I will just live vicariously live through you guys for sure. Not physically in the shape to consider that, but it still looks like one heck of an adventure to have.
Don’t think I’ve ever commented but I had to for this one! This is by far the most hilarious video yet! Nate and Dusty fighting mosquitos while hanging the food had me in tears 🤣

I have such good memories from Boundary Waters… I went with some friends’ church group back in 2000.
