  • In 1951, Canada's First Lady of Song crossed the boarder to expand her entertainment popularity in the United States. She immediately landed a job on radio's Club 15, where she replaced The Andrews Sisters and shared female vocalist duties with Jo Stafford. It wasn't long before Mario Lanza came calling, and, at the same time, she co-starred on his "Coke Time" radio program. In 1953 she recorded "Don't Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes" for Capitol records which successfully competed with Perry Como's RCA Victor version at the top of the charts. Here Gisele sings her hit recording on Abbott and Costello's Colgate Comedy Hour which aired live from Hollywood.

Well, it was a big hit for Perry Como and Capitol had Gisele cover it. Not a great hit for her but a good seller. Capitol was at a bit of a loss as to what to do with her; when she moved to RCA (and X and Vik) she became a record star to reckon with.
