My second car was 74 T-Bird, 5,000lbs. 25 g. fuel tank which lasted 300 miles for me, but Speedo only went to 120, but kept going until bottoming out somewhere past 130. Gotta luv those 460's, quiet yet never stopped pushing even all that weight until you chickened out. I hate to say ole Elmore was misinformed, and misinformed untold thousands of people. The last year for the fox mustang was 1993..so this probably has more in common with the sn95 mustang chassis most likely lol.
This is cool to see. In 2008 I began a build on a 1990 t-bird. I used the same exact rear end components. I built a C6 transmission. And built a 347 stroker with a dart racing block SCAT and Eagle internals with SRP pistons and everything balanced . Yeah, that wasn't even remotely close! You can often get away with re-suing some of the shims, but the diff shouldn't just drop into the housing like that.
I did. GROSS! When making an extreme ratio change, sometimes the pinion shim doesn't work. I take the original bearing, and with a die grinder, open up the center so it slide easily on the new pinion. Doing that allows you to change the pinion depth shim without pressing the bearing on/off repeatedly.
I had a 93 v6 and then a 94 v8. NEARLY got a SC. I prefer the subtle differences of the 94 compared to the more rounded 97 shown here. Really fun cars. My "upgrade" to a 2000 Mustang was really a downgrade. I wish Ford still made Thunderbirds like this, not like the 2002 retro model.

Yup, I saw it and thought WTF?
Just said the same thing
3 grand? Yall got hosed
Nothing Is Better than a Nice Sleeper...
I just bought a 94 V8 with only 100 k miles . The first thing I wanna do is replace the stock muffler , can you recommend any good brands/ alternatives
@@TonyscasaI’ve had my 97 Mercury Cougar XR7 for about 5-6 months and the best setup I’ve found is either just dual straight pipes or dual catback exhaust
@@LPack05I just bought a flow master gonna cut out the resonator and then the mufflers . Just don’t know where to but the pipes for the straight pipe .
@@Tonyscasa yeh? Mine is just dual straight no cats or mufflers. Sounds mean asf
Not a fox chassis 4:55 interested what K-member or how your gonna mount a sbf to a ohc setup.
It’s a lot easier to mate a pushrod engine to a modular k member than the reverse
@@eriv4735 the mod motors are wide but the 91-95 blocks are setup with a sbf bellhousing pattern and were used with an aod. Just motor mounts are required to get it bolted in.
Mad Mod That’s what I meant more or less..it is a lot easier to put a push rod on a modular k member than to put a modular on a pushrod k member
Some love for the thunderchicken
j. Mill “ Thunder Chicken “ Seriously?? Are you hungry or something?
thunderchicken? last i checked there called thunder birds
@@fatman1288 arent chickens a bird? For the record I do like Thunderbirds. I've got pretty good highschool memories with this generation.
@@1ivannthegreat yes. Yes I am. Fried chicken sounds like an excellent idea for dinner.
Total Sleeper.
Had the Same Car.. 4:11's in the rear and I made Quite a Few Bucks off Of her at the "track"😎
Racing what?
+Theodore Dowman Hondas
@@basshead. i doubt that
Theodore Dowman Oh how little you know 😂
@@eriv4735 my fun cars are a turbo ls 4 eye mustang & a turbo h22 ek civic. The fox makes over 1000 whp..
gotta love joe's radio voice
Gen 9 was changed a bunch!! It was the best fox body T-bird hands down! The turbo coupe RULED!!!!!!!
I really want to see them build up that 4.6L.
There was NEVER a factory backed or built 427 Thunderbird. EVER. Other than the 430 MEL offered in the "Square Birds", the 390 was the largest engine offered up until the 1966 Q Code 428.
I like seeing this I got a 92 Sc 👌🏼
Fantastic project Boys!!
but ...thumbs down to hanging calipers from hoses and showing coast side of ring gear, for pattern.
Looking forward to next episode 😎👍🏆
I like when I see Timken bearings in videos like these. I like to see the stamps to know if they were made at the one I work at or not.
Fox Chassis? um no. It's MN12.
I have always wanted to see this done!!! Next, do a early 2000's Monte Carlo. Please?
2:02. "mechanically unchanged" shows a turbo coupe with the 2.3l turbo 🙄
They dont care about the 2.3 turbo cars. Even tho they were faster
Right?? WTF was that about?? Lol
yeah i have the motor from one
My grandmother had one of those from the late 80's to early 00's. Man, such a sick car. I wish I could have bought it from her but unbeknownst to me she fucking traded it off for a Kia under my nose. I was devastated. It was babied all it's life that she had it and I planned to mod the shit out of it. Such awesome cars! Kinda like fords answer to the Buick T-Type.
@@homegrowncustomsandautorep9737 Do a little research. Slap a volvo 4v per cylinder head on there with twin cams and a big ass turbo. Mine went from 16.2 to 13.2 back in the day. Had volvo head and cams garrett turbo at 25lbs big injectors and NO TUNE
17 year old 98' Mark Viii owner love it so much I'd take it over a mustang anyday.
Tuning the 4.6 and adding a supercharger would be a better choice in my opinion. Good chassis modifications though.
Had a 63" 78" 95-V8" All nice cars :)
That fan is one of the best out there to use on hot rods.. its the one that comes in the Lincoln Mark 8
Im 16 and my first car is a 97 thunder bird with a V8 that was given to me as a birthday present
Such a cool odd ball build!
I had a 1995 tbird v8 it was pretty fast!
THEIRISHAXE Me too, I used to had a 95 V8 4.6 liter Lx when I used to love that car until I had to sell it though. Gas prices were sky rocketing back in that time when I had it.
I have a 92 5.0 sport and I had a 97' and 96' 4.6 all with a handful of mods..Great cars..When I was 19 I had a 88' Turbo Coupe 5-speed pushing 18 pounds of boost!! Good times!!
I also had a 95 with the 4.6. Gas mileage sucked so I had to let it go but I still miss it. The Bird was quick.
@@jrfoleyjr never shouldn't sold it a master piece don't feel bad i had a 96 cougar had to let it go back over 50000 miles miss my car due going thru a divorce a good car now got 2 97 T Birds V6 and V8 holding on to these about to restore back in 96 almost brought 1new 2010 almost had me a mark 8
I like the Lockheed Martin F22 background music.
*Oh man! I wish I had the type of money to take these types of 'mundane' generational makes and built them into power houses.*
Should have terminator swapped it and put a manual in it.
I had 2 97 birds and kind of miss them. Right now I would probably putting in a Coyote one of them.
Great Episode
Stay in da Groove
As a 1997 TBird owner I approve 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Boy that's 1 clean thunder chicken
Leaves the calipers hanging by the brake hoses LOL
🧡 your project. Rear wheel drive 427 V8 power. Light car.
