- Hi everyone! I'm so excited to finally be back in the Grand Theft Auto universe, this time with GRAND THEFT AUTO 4!!! It's been a blast so far and I will never get over the insane detail and opportunities given to me already. I can tell this is going to be a very in-depth story. There isn't really a good choice between Francis and Derrick. You didn't get this but if you listen to Derricks old people and what his family says (especially about the reasons Derrick went into hiding in Ireland), he often would snitch and sell out his friends and it is heavily implied he ratted Gerry out too. At the same time Francis is a blackmailing slimeball who isn't much better.
I think Francis unlocks and ability to remove your wanted level so long as it is below 3 stars, but (dating spoiler) Lawchick as the same ability so you aren't locked out.
The perk is bs, Losing the cops naturally is part of the GTA experience.

Check if you can have Dwayne's goons assist you on missions, if you become good enough friends with him you'll see an option on the phone to have his goons help you, almost every friend or girlfriend has an ability to help you btw, these vary and some are very useful.

Ray's last mission is his best and also one of the best missions in the whole game, those criminals at the hotel deserve it!

The diamonds have a huge intricate story tied to them. Especially across all three DLC’s. But i heavily enjoy these play throughs and the fact that your playing this game. Subbed!

In this game, if you use up all your ammo you lose that weapon and have to buy/steal it again, which can be expensive. If you're running out of bullets it's actually advisable to switch to a different gun just before so you don't lose it.
money isn't really a problem in the game. there is little you can use the 1+ million you get over the course of the game. so rebuying weapons don't mean anything.
Packie Mcreary is my favorite Character in GTA IV
6:35 There isn't a right or wrong choice here, but I've always thought Francis was one of the slimiest characters in the game and as such, had no qualms about taking him off the count. Even his other siblings don't seem particularly bothered by his swift departure.
Also it just makes sense. He threatens Niko all the time.
There is actually, a corrupt cop can be way more of a menace to society than a coke-addicted gangster. And we all know Francis was a menace.
I agree I always picked Francis as that felt more right, as he was the one that put up the idea of killing his own brother first, Derrick basically did self defence.
Then also Francis threaten me and I don't like being threaten so bye bye Francis. While Derrick basically begged for help.
Then ofcourse Francis lying and acting as if he is all good but he is as crooked if not more than his brothers, while Derrick doesn't hide he is bad.
Though if there was 100% proof Derrick was the one who ratted out his own brother Gerry to cops, I would kill Derrick.
But right now there is just hints in the story ,and like 90% chance of Derrick being the one who did it.

Fun fact, you can actually get the Deagle way earlier than the museum mission. Once you unlock Ammu-Nation just aim at the shopkeeper until he pulls the Deagle out, then kill him and take the gun. It makes the game quite a lot easier imo

For a criminal to kill a cop, it is considered to be a messy affair, especially one with connections as Francis. I don’t know if you played the other GTA games but it’s like how Trevor needed protection from Dave for killing Haines, or how Sweet tells CJ not to put a bullet in Tenpenny’s head. It’s more troublesome than one criminal killing another. I personally think Derrick was worse and an even bigger hypocrite than Francis who is probably the least worse corrupt cop in GTA.
Derrick is the better one to kill imo. I don’t believe you get any good reward by not killing him but if you keep Francis alive, he can get rid of your wanted level. I think up to 3 stars. But it’s a nothing burger since I do believe you can date someone who can also get rid of your wanted level so if you really want that, problem solve
You get more like and respect from Packie after UNDERTAKER if you killed Francis, than you would get if you kill Derrick.
The biker guy you killed in the subway is Jim ..
His character model wasn't developed during the Release of GTA IV. His actual character model was developed a year later, when the Expansion Pack, The Lost and Damned was released, where he plays a very important role..

You can get a Turismo car whenever you like if you visit the Grotti car dealership. Its across the street from the Perseus clothes store near your Algonquin safehouse.
And there's always one parked in Faustin house
If you had spared Francis you could’ve used him to lower your wanted level during free roam, plus Derrick is a rat and a junky who’s killing himself slowly anyway

You made the right decision, Francis blackmailed Niko since he asked him to work for him, he even did it in this mission, he is really corrupt and abuses his position as an officer. Derrick was always good with Niko, his only problem is he is high and drinks a lot, but he is a good guy. So Congrats, you did it!

Derrick isn't a "good guy" he was in a terrorist group back in Ireland, he snitched on his friends in 90s when cops arrested him and there is a theory that Gerald land in prison because of him but still Francis blackmailed Niko and is more dangerous than Derrick that's why better to kill Francis
Derrick is not even close to a good guy,and Francis at least would support Ma Mcreary after Gerry and Packie are gone.Derrick would probably die of overdose anyway.I think this is the hardest decision in the game.

No, it was annoying. Killing Derrick is satisfying because he is already killing himself slowly and he is useless for us. Francis is doing well and actually is the man of his word because he pays Niko back for all the work Niko did for him, by clearing the wanted level whenever you have high heat.

I don't think killing Francis is a good idea. Sure, he is an a** but that doesn't mean I don't hate Derrick more. We're reluctantly killing Aiden because of him. He's already a living dead. Plus, until the story ends, thanks to Francis, we get rid of the police, access the criminal database, and we can also double the reward during the mission by calling him

I'm always amazed at people who choose to kill Derrick instead of Francis. Firstly, none of the brothers, not even Kate, are sad after Francis's death, on the other hand, Francis was always disrespectful towards Niko, threatening and blackmailing him until the end. Francis was a hypocrite from his childhood and always despised his family, even though he was as delinquent as they were. Some excuse themselves with the ability to lose the search level, but you can get it from Kiki. In short, killing Francis is the most consistent with Niko's personality.
I'd choose Derrick because he's insane and gets Niko to take out random folk and if he snitched on that Aiden guy, who guarantees that he wouldn't get Niko in trouble too just to save his butt? For the brothers to hate him is an obvious thing, but he still didn't get them arrested all those years and decades. Derrick getting deleted was a matter of time, but their mother could at least be proud of Francis who was the only "good" son in the fam and to take that away from her is wild and definitely harder to deal with. At least Francis wasn't going crazy with the drugs and made you go on a rampage and instead just sent you out to take down some criminals.

Yeah, that's true. However, Derrick was a erratic rat, with Francis you can reason but you can never be sure with Derrick. However, most importantly, killing Derrick is the canon choice as per Packie's dialogue later in GTA V and, just to prove it, literally Packie says while talking about the LC bank heist "I ran the crew. It was me, my brother Derrick. God rest his soul".

@@IsraFeeL123There's a big difference between cannabis and heroin addiction. Jacob mostly behaves like a normal person, Derrick is a complete mess.
Jacob is arguably Niko's best friend while Derrick is just an acquaintance, the only reason Niko hangs out with him is because he's Patrick's brother.
Both choices are in character for Niko, in one he gets fed up with Francis crap and in the other he just does another job.

I chose the logical solution by killing Derrick. I get Francis' ability to evade wanted level. And I also called him right before killing Derrick to raise the 10k to 20k payout. Otherwise I would have chosen Francis too.
You can get the ability to evade the wanted level if Kiki likes you enough

Killing either of them isn't wrong.
If you play GTA V, and play the mission to recruit Patrick McReary, he mentions something about Derrick dying of OD or something shortly before the events of GTA V (meaning Francis dying is considered canon in the HD Universe).
Also it was better to kill Francis, since the funeral mission can make you drive to two different locations, and Francis' is closer than Derrick's.
Keep in mind, the mission is more of a utilitarian question, as their are rewards that Francis gives you when you choose to kill Derrick ($20,000 if you call him during the time you aim at either) and removing your wanted level up to 3 stars.

Keep in mind, after the games story ends, Francis no longer does this, as he focuses more on his life of police work rather than helping Niko out every time he needs help.

I honestly think Derrick would've been the better choice, because Derrick is a lost thug and killer who wanted Niko to do insane stuff and get innocent folk hurt and worse just because of a revenge thing and drugs and if he snitched on that Aiden O'Malley guy, who says he wouldn't do the same with Niko? Meanwhile, Francis wanted you to take out killers who were causing him trouble. Then there's the whole family situation where Francis is the only one who tried to do it better and he didn't snitch on his brothers and get them arrested even though he could've at any time. He was the only one their mother could be proud of and for her to lose the only "good" son is very heartbreaking for an old lady. Derrick being found dead was just a matter of time for everyone, but Francis was something that would truly hurt the most.

In this situation, I'd just think of the mom and stay objective on both characters if I have to choose. But in reality, me personally, I would've just called Kate to come and bring her mother to that park and then have her show up and let them settle this beef between family members and hope that she slaps both Francis and Derrick some sense in their heads.

Great video , kames , i also wanted to say that you can get a free Turismo (the Ferrari you drove in red) and it's right next to your safe house in Algonquin in middle park and next to the Perseus store (suit clothing store) , you will find a a Turismo dealership , enter it (or shoot the window) and then steal the Turismo you like

I know killing Derrick brings most rewards but killing Francis felt most morally right.
Both are bad, but Derrick is atleast not hiding it while Francis will kill anyone who tries to bring out the truth of him and act so good when he is as crooked if not more than his brothers.
Like Francis basically threatens you to kill his brother while Derrick basically begs Niko to protect him.
I don’t like being threaten so I kill Francis.
BTW if you wonder why it might be one of the most difficult choices, it is because there is mentions in the story how Derrick have ratted out friends in the past to police to save his own skin.
There is also hints of there is like 90% chance Derrick is the one who ratted put his own brother Gerry Mcreary.

Derrick is just straight up a hypocrite: sends you to kill people he ratted (Aiden) or he's going to rat (Francis). At least Francis tells Niko why he's killing (and also the truth about Derrick, just like Aiden). Besides, it was Derrick who wanted to snitch on Francis first, then the latter acts in consequence.
Hi VM, Hosan was the first guy you see talking to Nico on the ship in the opening of the game. Ivan was the guy Vlad wanted Nico to kill where you got your first kill or spare choice as he was hanging after nearly falling off the construction site

10:34 there's a Groti showroom, full of those cars, a block from the fancy safehouse (ie Roman's condo). You can get one in any color you want, but it will entail running from the cops. Pro tip: a totalled car can be restored by parking it at a safehouse and leaving it there. The game saves the car, but not the damage, and once you get far enough away from it, the car respawns in perfect condition when you come back. If you cross the nearest bridge and come right back, the car in the parking space will be in mint condition.

For some reason, Niko throws his weapon on the ground if he runs out of ammo. So if you want to avoid having to repurchase them, save at least 1 bullet in each weapon.

You made the right choice in terms of story. Niko takes out him. But in terms of gameplay, taking out Derrick works out better given the special ability.

21:50 You might know about this outfit of niko, but it's not in the game from the beginning. It is unlocked after you complete a certain mission (don't remember the name). This is the outfit of the GTA 3 protagonist, Claude. Rockstar always put references in their games about their other games. One more about the last episode. If you remember, the prisoner guy that niko and packie rescued and then killed had the name Aiden O Malley which is the the same name Dutch uses to introduce himself to the people on the island of Guarma in chapter 5 in RDR 2.

I chose Francis to die in my first playthrough. 2nd playthrough, I choose Derrick after paying attention to the OMaley mission. He snitches on O'malley then gets his assassinated. Both are hypocrites.

Hi, Kaylee! I’ve played this “masterpiece” so many times, and it looks like you're about halfway through your progress (maybe). So, here’s a very important NON-SPOILER reminder to help you finish the story. When you see two icons on the map (one is a green dollar sign, and the other is a red dagger), make sure to save your game before choosing one of them. It’s very important to explore both of those options if you want the full experience with this game. Just wanted to let you know.
Play the dlcs when the main story ends 🥺
Museum Piece is the only mission with Niko, Johnny and Luis in it. You have to play The Lost and Damned and especially The Ballad of Gay Tony... they really complete the whole story when it comes to GTA IV, and you get to play Museum Piece from each other their perspectives. I'm surprised you didn't recognise Luis from the bank heist
7:17 hard to say, there's a huge percentage that Derrick is the one to take out due to suspicions that he was a rat but the reason most don't kill him is the chance it's circumstantial. though those who do have the opportunity to remove a 3 star wanted level

10:45 Every time you steal a car in some area, you'll notice that you encounter multiple cars of the very same brand/model nearby. It's a known bug/feature.
As an example, the red car parked there is the same model as yours, namely a Turismo, and the dark car driven by a NPC asking if you're sleeping is a Turismo as well 😉
