- Опубликовано: 25 июл 2024
- The all new HF8 Gaming Pad by Next Level Racing is a haptic device with 8 times the fun. It has 8 small independent vibrating motors that are well hidden inside of a pad fit for a gaming chair or simrig to forever change the way it feels.
Shaun Cole of The Simpit tied this new take on haptic feedback for a spin. In this review he will cover its features, how to set it up and most importantly how it works while driving.

Very interesting and original equipment to add to any seat. Great stuff. Glad to have found you back again Shaun!
I didn't think I liked the white version of the R9 when I bought it but seeing it in person on your rig I really like it..... It definitely stands out..... But yeah HF8 Looks amazing I'm going to buy it
i seriously might pick one up, great review
No One Does A Review Better Your The Best Cole 🏁
Truly excellent product review!!
dude is like the mr rogers of sim racing....like a family member. keep up the good work.
Shaun does the most thorough reviews
Great review! Thanks
Looks pretty interesting, definitely cheaper than my ButtKicker setup on my seat "ButttKicker+Power Amplifier+SimVibe Software", it's good to have another alternative. Great video as always buddy.
great job!!! I think Fritosport needs one. :)
Great review.
I just received mine about 2 weeks ago. I play most racers but specifically rally games. After dialing in the settings on sim hub the HF8 came to life.
Still during the course of the weekend I was unsure if I was going to keep it. Sure enough I hopped on one day for a quick session and didn't think to start up the HF8. I realized that the driving felt dull after that and I made the decision to keep it.
I was looking at getting buttkickers on my rig but after hearing about the noise and the strength of it I decided not to go down that path.
Just ordered mine 10 min ago looking forward to testing it out for both racing and single shooter.
Im looking forward to latency tests. Maybe it can be fixed via softwareupdate or on next generation of it. But well if latency is not that big of a deal ill buy one too^^
@@RonaldRegain Hi there, yes the software will be continuously improved with added effects! We will update this across our socials.
How'd it go?
@Whereta working away at moment home on Thursday setting up then will let you know.
@Whereta Set it up yesterday. For what it is I'm really happy. As I have never had a butt kicker I can't compare but it definitely makes the racing more immersive . Still working on the best set-up. But overall happy with my purchase.
where on the website does it say the games / simulators it supports and the telemetry it exports from them? I play IL-2 Sturmovik, DCS World and Falcon 4.0 BMS
can you let us know if this seat is capable of transmitting ABS and wheel slip? I did not see that in any of the drop down menus in the software
A shaker in the bottom middle would be great for those "web browsing" moments... 😉
its amazing how quick everyone makes a new video for a new product. god damn
It's almost as if they were all sent the product weeks ago and given a specific date and time to release their reviews.....
but not link to where to buy

@@vicioussid1967 i was looking at their website when it was released and they had the new "haptics" tab with only it in it. went back 2 hrs laters, tab was full of everything else haptics related xD
I prefer my proper bass shakers mounted under the bucket seat. But I would to see a review of their new motion platform. Very few tests are available online
Shakers under the seat are less effective than shakers almost directly under your butt. Since I've built in four tiny Dayton shakers into my GS-5 directly on the plates (there are pre-cutted inserts for them), the Buttkicker Concert under the seat needs to be quite loud to get noticed and this is a monster. If you want more out of your shakers, you need to drill it to the seat-shell I guess.
What do you mean by "prefer" - have you tested the HF8 already?
@Leynad Jee that's what I meant, I drilled my bucket seat, the dayton bst2 are literally on the seat. Sure its a bit loud, but I believe much more effect than small motor in this hf8
@kontoname the effect is probably pretty good. But it can't give as much power as bug bass shakers. But the main down side of this hf8, for me, is to add it over my bucket seat. I love my bucket seat, I don't want to ruin it with this kind of "blanket "
I've got the motion plus and it is very good, however I've never tried a different motion platform to compare. My ButtKicker stopped working shortly after getting it and I haven't bothered trying to fix it as the motion platform does feel like I'm missing anything. Just have the 1 on the back of the rig, but love it.
Would you be willing to post the settings you used for iracing?
Just saw this yesterday. Now I'm torn between getting this or the butkicker add on
It depends on what you play. My go to sim : automobilista 2(vr) and at the present time the Hf8 software doesn't do road noise or bumps. The pads vibration is good though.I suggest get both as I'm going to eventually do.
I’m interested in this. Ii do dirt, and was able to tune a Buttkicker to send signals for rpm, which used to let me know I had wheel spin. The problem is, the amp kept dropping out mid race. This would mess me up for a couple laps.
Turn the amp on the buttkicker down, too much clipping will cause the amp to overheat.
@@Wkegge I had it pretty low, but guess I need to turn it down more.
Hi Shaun, could u please explain a little more " slow to react "? Thks
Is this compatible with ps5 with dirt rally/2.0? If not is there any alternative for console
Is this compatible with Nascar Heat 5 on PlayStation?
Great video as usual. Shame that all the listed stores in the UK have no page or details for the product whatsoever. Cheers anyway Shaun :) Ah now the pages work.
There should be stock in the UK in the upcoming weeks!
@@NextLevelRacing Thank you NLR!! I am looking forward to it.
I play Flight Simulator 2002 on the Xbox series X. Can I use the HF8? 10:57
Would this work on a PS5 as well?
I am not able to see a review for this product used with a PS5 , and specifically for Gran Turismo 7. We are just millions to use it so what is the point ? So please could you do that ?
How does it feel to play a racing game over 3.5mm (Like GT7)? Is the hf8 worth the money with a PS5 or Xbox? Thx :)
It's good. Got onfe yesterday. Adds to the imersion that you're moving at least. I drove for half hour and I'm not overly impressed, turn it off tho, and you really miss it!. Hope this helps.
@@christopherpope1800 great info! Where did you plug the 3.5 in to? On the set up video from the NLR channel it shows plugging into the controller then into a headset. Can it be plugged directly into the headset? (Without the controller)
Would this totally replace or compliment a butt kicker?
So happy to see you're still making great content.
I was excited until I heard "Slow to react". Thanks anyway for the review, Shaun.
Hope he will explain it a bit more.
@@Robin_S78 He just did a follow up review on the channel answering most of the questions. Go check it out.
Just got mine today. Had a few problems and it took me a while to get it to connect . Turns out all you need is sim hub. They have a few quick settings to get you started and once I really adjusted everything it felt great . I ran at senoma with Audi and tested corners and feedback time and tbh it’s hardly a delay if anything . If your worried still I’d like to also say NLR is working daily to improve the pad over time . I am very very happy with the purchase especially on VR
Interested but will wait for a sales as $320 Cdn a bit pricey now eh!
Just got one and what a shock its faulty ..won't connect to the pc
it could help with motion sickness in vr while racing
I just installed my HF8. I have never had an haptic device attached to my rig before. For sure this device adds to my sim racing experience. But.....the "lag" that you experience when you encounter an object, like a curb, and when the vibration motor kicks in, and the "lag" you experience when you clear an object, like a curb, and when the vibration motor stops, definitely breaks my immersion. I've contacted Next Level asking for a "fix", but haven't heard back from them yet. I hope they can help.
I'm going to continue to use the device, and maybe the "lag" will fade with time? Time will tell....
For those of you who have other haptic devices, like a Butt Kicker, do they have this same "lag"?
How is it now
Are you using Sim hub that's better
Thanks for the test. Did you have the feeling that if you sit on this longer it would become uncomfortable? My rig is ready for 1h+ racing and i don't want to lose this comfort.
Slow to react? Lag?
Do you also feel Wheelspin?
Does it really works on console (ps5/XSX)?
Yes
Will it still pick up wheel spin or the engine, rpms, over/under steer when plugged into the audio jack sim racing on the ps5? Or just does it vibrate randomly to noise or something when on console?
@@88Renix was that a yes to my question or @Spongi1889?
How slow is the reaction ? If it is just as slow as when playing simracing with bloothooth headphones, then it is unusable
You can make these for less than $60 and they work just as good as the ones that go for 100s of dollars. Simhub software, audrino broad, motor driver and a cheap back warmer with vibration.
Can you make the software aswell probably not so the experience won't be as complete
you can make most things yourself if you really want to what you pay for is it already being built and working
Make one and show it here(YT). Seriously.
@@williamsaloka9043 already did months ago
@@loveforsimracing8197Show it please.
In addition to that, my system, says, that the USB-device cannot be detected.

"Slow to react" ?
Pc only?
PC & Console Compatible.
I have recently installed 2 bass shakers on my rig which basically provide the same functionality together with Simhub albeit not as localised. One thing I learned is that less is better in the amount of effects you try to convey otherwise they just end up vibrating constantly. The localisation aspect is also overrated unless the motors/bass shakers are quite distant apart because the whole chair is vibrating :p
Real racecars are vibrating constantly as well, so I'm in the 'more is more' camp.
You can't compare bass shakers with actual haptics mate. It's NOT overrated at all - it's just you have never experienced it. There's even haptic vests that, in VR for example, can make you detect even positions of impacts for arrows etc.
Bass shakers work on a simplified model. They just shake, and thus stress all components you have attached and vibrate along, most of their energy wasted and absorbed by the materials attached. They are imprecise, inefficient and noisy.
What bass shakers are good at is for single impacts effects, like crashes or hitting something. Basically things that are short impacts instead of longer lasting effects.
So in theory a combination of both would be best, including optimizations for shakers especially in the seat segment. They really need to be integrated into the seat better.
This should be pretty cool with World of Tanks.
First thing I would do is rip out the electronics and incorporate it into the padding of a racing seat.

Hi Shaun, code doesn't seem to be working. Gleam won't accept it.
One of the companies selling these seats was “FEEL” They sold it but never delivered! It wasn’t a backers payment of some sort, they just sold it.. But only paper. They never delivered or excused themselves. Over i think 3 years ago I paid, and lots of others, €180 and never heard of them again. It problably was a scam of some sort or they changed the name of their company by now.
TONS of scams out there. Be careful.
better end easy installation than buttkicker gamer 2
Fit sparco grid q
I think problem with all this sim stuff is the setting up software for every game or even down to each car its just exhausting none of it is truly "plug-in"
Yeah I'm .lazy to I just want stuff to work, that's why I only eat microwave meals
Save your money
for PC yes ,for Xbox and playstation not!!!
Junk … can’t get it to work with Pc using its software or simhub
Did you get it to work, or are you just stupid
Don’t buy into the hype this is the most bug ridden software I’ve seen in ages
The company makes outstanding products!
NOT this one
HFS was launched in Beta with no intention of being a refined product immediately. Regrettably, this is the reason why we stress the compatibility of HF8 with other third-party software like SimHub or SimShaker.
