I had a Pax wardrobe for about 10 years in my 20s and it held up *perfectly*. It was also so convenient to be able to change the configuration when my style changed.
Thank you for actually showing your clothes as-is. I've been designing the PAX on the IKEA website and it's hard to imagine... Been scouring RUclips for a realistic PAX system
The jewelry organizer not fitting would drive me crazy too! Thanks for the honest opinion on the pant hanger - have been considering getting one but now will measure and think twice
The jewellery organisers from Ikea are great and fit perfectly but you have to get the right pieces with the right size. The person who uploaded this video just bought the wrong pieces. Honestly all the other issues she said can be fixed including the pant hanger but she just doesn’t know how to do it.
My experience is that IKEA has a small clip-on part that softens the hinge closing mechanism. Don't take off the hinges. Just get the part and snap it on.
9:07 I can see exactly what you have done with the hinges! Hinge sets come, in this case, with two soft-close hinges and two non-soft close hinges. All you have done is put all the non soft close hinges on one door! There should be two of each on one door. HTH
@@Hanasdiyhome I will try; Look at the hinges, and you will see that some have a red plastic tab located on them. Thats the soft close part. The others do not and are just plain hinges - you can see this in the timestamp in my post. ~you need to put half the soft close Hines with the ordinary plain ones in each door
I appreciate your review and your build tips. I am about to put mine together and was so nervous about messing it up. Your honest commentary was extremely helpful.
I saw a tutorial on RUclips or instagram (forgot which 🫣), where they said you can buy some flatter soft close hinges on Amazon, than IKEA’s. If you swap them out with the Amazon ones, then you can start the drawers/accessories a little lower down in the frame, could make a different with your shoe shelf.
Thanks so much Annie!! The mesh drawers are a lot cheaper but I just didn’t like the look of them. But if you’re not as particular, they are great way to save on this wardrobe!
Great video. Lots of invaluable little details to consider, thank you. Two questions: - Do you think sliding doors would have been a better fit for you, given the few issues you mentioned (handle size, close to a wall)? - Did you have any durability issues? Might be the camera but those two Komplement shelves on the top look slightly saggy. I've read this is a real issue for 100cm/39'' frames, along with the back panel which can bend outwards if pressure is applied against it.
Hey! I personally do not like sliding doors, not in this ikea unit, but in other places in my house, they come off the track. 2- no issues with sagging at all!
Do you think the drawers will hold up? I've read some recent reviews about the drawers not holding up. The bottom bowing, crumbling during assembly... just overall not same quality as the drawers in previous years. (Also saw some reviews stating IKEA not honoring the warranty on the drawers either.)
Why don't you just rearrange stuff so that it fits? Move the drawers up so your shoes stand and swap the drawer to below the trouser hanger and move the shelf up
Huh? Just get out a screwdriver and take out the shelf on the left, then move the pants holder up a few notches - then pants would not drag over the shelf bottom.@@Hanasdiyhome
It comes in a few different heights. Use the one depending on your ceiling height. I have 9ft ceilings so I used to tallest height. And yes. Always mount furniture to the wall to prevent accidents
Extremely helpful. Thank you! I'm considering a Pax wardrobe and looking at sliding doors as it will be on my bedroom wall and space is limited between the bed and wardrobe. I'm curious why you didn't opt for sliding doors for yours? Love the hardware you chose!
curious if you find the full width drawers to be annoying? I'm thinking i might want all my drawers to be width (with the divider) so i don't have to open BOTH doors to get the drawer open, but maybe it's not that annoying?
@@Hanasdiyhome the lowest point of my ceiling is 9ft so I would like mine to reach as close to that point and don’t lose lots of space. Yours is great looking and Thank you so much for the reply!
@@Mylene165 you can build it up from the bottom by making a base, and also add taller trim at the top if you want it to look more custom. But IKEA doesn't sell additional heights to get more organization space unfortunately

I can totally see this lasting us so many years!

You’re welcome! I’m sure you’ll love it
Great video. Absolutely love the bangle shelf. 😍 It’s the thing I liked best about your wardrobe.
The jewelry organizer not fitting would drive me crazy too! Thanks for the honest opinion on the pant hanger - have been considering getting one but now will measure and think twice
Hi Preetika! You’re so welcome! I wanted to fit everything in so the length of the pant holder isn’t ideal

Can you explain? I bought the hinges with the door and they said soft close

I can guarantee that you have almost certainly put all the soft-close hinges into one door
Aww thank you so much for this! I’m about to buy a pax wardrobe and this has helped me no end! Love this! Excited now.. 😀❤️
Thank you!!! That means a lot. Good luck!! You’ll love it
Update! Bought my Pax and installed it, and yes you were right, I love it! Ty for your video, it helped me a lot, appreciate ya 😀❤️
Thx for the tips! Looks beautiful❤

Very informative and relatable video! And you’re adorable!
thank you for sharing! I love my pax too! the inserts does fit, you have to mix and match the sizes :)
love this! did you ever make the video on how you DIY'd the bangle drawer? :)
Thank you!! I haven’t but I have a blog post here

Thank you so much for the review❤ what is the problem with the hinges? Are the soft closing ones separate ones I have to order?
So the ones that came with the door are soft closing. But, a few of the doors don’t closely softly anymore. A few do 🫠
I have built mine on the website and started from scratch many times. Just 1 question from me. no mesh drawers?
I think it’s personal preference. I like the look of the wood drawers but you can save a bit of $$ by using the mesh ones
Did you get the little white covers for the holes at Ikea as well?
Yes I did!
Is the bar for hanging clothes starting to sag in the middle? My experience with Pax is that components like shelves sag noticeably over time.
Nope, not at all!
Hi, where did you buy the crown? Does the colour fit to Ikea Pax? Greetings from Poland.
Thanks! I bought it from the hardware store and painted it to match
I love your DIY for your bagels in the pax Do you have a link?
Thanks so much!! I’ve added the link for the tutorial in the description box!

So far I have no issues with the drawers at all. I think they will hold up. I’m just putting in clothes so it’s not that heavy
Do you find it frustrating to keep looking up to grab your clothes on the hanger? Or find it a bit high for your liking?
I’m pretty short. I’m 5ft2. But I don’t. I never even noticed tbh
Wrap your boxes in scrapbook or contact paper....will make them pretty
Why don't you just rearrange stuff so that it fits? Move the drawers up so your shoes stand and swap the drawer to below the trouser hanger and move the shelf up
I could but the ocd in me hates the hanging stuff touching the shelves

I am curious how many inches from the bottom of the top shelf to the top of the hanging rod?
It’s about 78”
What is the height of the wardrobe? Also did you need to attach it to the wall? thank you
It comes in a few different heights. Use the one depending on your ceiling height. I have 9ft ceilings so I used to tallest height.

Where did you get the zippered storage for the top? Are those ikea products?
yes they are
They are form Skubb Line at IKEA
I am going to get a IKEA wardrobe how tall are you as I was think of get 4 drawers but a bit worried I will not be able to reach the rail?

Yes!! if I had thought of it before I would have DIY some type of half door but now that I already have this, I live with it
Hi, what is the exact name/type of the doors?
I’m considering this for my 3 and 4 year olds. Why would you not recommend it for kids? I was going to leave the doors off too 😅
I guess you can but it’s such an investment. I’d suggest AURDAL instead
Link to the handles please 😊

Do you think there was enough space for clothing or did you have to cut back on what you kept?
Def enough space!!! I didn’t donate anything

You did not specific told us measurements.
This is the old pax wardrobe, mine has sliding doors and baskets instead of solid drawers.
Those are different options you can personalize. You can get all types of drawers, and doors. Either that open like mine or slide

Yes from IKEA!
