they are a crit spot and unless your playing on higher difficulties, they are pretty hard to not kill. (getting a glory kill on theses things is pretty funny)
I know shanks are annoying when doing hard activities, but I still find them cute , like hearing their little noises that they make. Overall, they're not bad.

Something I’ve just thought of. So I’m Splicer you could explore the Eliksni quarters and Eido would have dialogue and described how fallen see shanks as part of the family and cared for them dearly. If that’s the case, why would they make exploding shanks? Kinda like they are putting bombs on their family dog 😳
So…I’m embarrassed to say that I thought shanks were called sharks for about a month in D1. I had a pretty small TV and used the standard AV cables as i didn’t have an HDMI cable. They have little fins, they float around, sharks, in my mind, fit with the whole pirate theme the Fallen had going for them. It was only when I was playing with my friend and we were getting swarmed that I said “Dude, there is a pack of sharks out for our blood” that I was told they were shanks. :(

The ogs know how fucking annoying shanks could be; the wretched eye NF was one of the hardest things I’ve ever soloed in destiny because of how unforgiving that boss room was. Pair the two bosses with tracer shanks spawning just about 24/7 and it was a slog
