Doing this job right now and I am having a hell of a time getting the driver side cat out. I am not a mechanic but I didn't have the money to take it to a shop. The problem is
1. I don't have a lift.
2. The bolts are old and rusted on pretty badly.
3. There's no room to work and get those bolts off.
4. There is a big heavy bar in the way ....
my question is can I remove the bar? ...and if I remove this bar will the car engine just fall out? My gut says yes remove the bar the engine won't fall out. But I'd like to make sure before I just Gung ho it and remove it.
My other question is once the bar is out of the way, if the bolts will not come loose. Can I just take a Sawzall to the old cat? So I can reach in a get more leverage on the old bolt.? I have new cats and new gaskets so putting if back in won't be too difficult.
Let me know please.. I'm probablt just going to go remove the bar and hacksaw the cat out so I have more room to work if I don't heat back any time spoon.
@@thedronefactoryusa79 idk if you went through with it but yes you can take the cross bar frame out since the engine sits on the motor mounts, just be sure to put it back on once you’re done. Also, yes if you cannot reach the bolts because of the cats in the way I would advise to cut it so you get more leverage, or you could take a torch to it and burn the bolt out.
Yea I cut that old cat out. East peasy... no wonder every one is stealing all the cats... these are mine so I can legally sell them right? Where would I be able to sell them? And any idea what I can get for them?

Just changed my y pipe to a megan racing and the bracket between the two cats broke at the cat bracket an is making a vibration that is horrible. Google changing g37 videos and yours popped up first... god is good... super excited that you're on this level bro!

Wow great video I’m thinking this is the reason my g37 keeps going into limp mode after I reset the ecu because my Left side cat had a rust hole?
My doesn’t go in limp mode but keep throwing p0420 code no check engine light just service light right now testing with catalyst cleaner formula

How'd u get the top nut & bolt back on? The nut & bolt u had to loosen from inside the hood?
From a real person who did the job him self...it a little complicated but it's doable I did 2 on the ground in maybe 2hrs first time

Did you have to take off the steering rack for the last bolt? There’s not enough room for the 1/2 inch drive the steering rod is in the way ...

The cats filters are not flowing correctly they may look good but not work correctly this car got over 100k miles cats dont last forever

It's not possible. It's going to be the only way and that's what I was afraid of. I'm deleting the cats...
hey i have a 2015 infiniti q50 and my cat on my left side is rattling as if somethong is loose in there maybe that honeycomb ish . But anyway my mechanic keeps saying dont worry about it and if he was to replace it hed have to replace everything like the sensor and the pipes n stuff.. because it would break ..hows that sound to you?? and are there any other options??

I takes about 2 hours it depends on the mecanic how fast he wants to do it this converters are on ebay

I just had my driver side Cat replace ... I'm experiencing the same problem in performance issues as before while leaving the shop any suggestions as to what it could be just trying to get a second opinion

How are those cats holding up? Did it change how the car accelerate? I hear some converters have less flow than original, minimizing performance.
yeah it sounds diffrent n performance wise is ok unless u wanna spent $1800 dollars for new ones

@@swervv2957 Well I got the eastern cats, they didn't fit right. So I returned them. While examining the oem ones, I noticed the part inside the cats came lose from the shell. Brought it to a good welder and had them weld the lose part inside to the inner shell. No more rattling
How would I be able to know if it’s like your? Is it possible to know without having to take it all apart because one I do that I have to either be sure that’s the problem or have a new one to swap if it’s something Unable to fix. Damn mine being like yours is my best case luck chance I got

I'm on day #2 trying to do this same job. I'm stuck on one remaining cat bolt....driver side.... there's no freaking way to access the nut on this bolt unless maybe you remove half the entire engine bay? Jesus Christ. I've tried from the top and from the bottom. There's no good angle and I don't wanna strip the nut or bolt. FML. Every simple job on this car turns into a nightmare
The top bolt if it is u need a 1/2 inch extension the long one n half inch brake a bar n that will do it
Were you able to get it taken off? Im considering doing this on my car as well, but some jobs do indeed turn into nightmares

no cel came back how ever the sound wasent the same this some canadian aftermarket exaust put a scaner on n reset again u might have other codes.

I have Z1 high cats and headers with intakes on my g37s. You definitely have too go and get it dyno or your going to get mixed signals from your ride breh.
Did your check engine light come on when you installed the z1 cats ? I got a 06 g35 planning on buying the cats from z1

@@juniormartinez2586 hey bro I have this constant light rattle sounds like coming from my cat on the passenger side. Took it to the local muffler spot and they told me it’s the cat going bad. But I got no codes and it just passed emissions 2 months ago? I don’t know what I should do if it is cat cause I know it’s expensive and I’m in Cali so I’m limited.

@@juniormartinez2586 we did that at the muff shop, hit it all over the cat and really didn’t get no rattle, so turned it on put bk on lift and you can hear the rattle coming from the passenger cat. But I’m not sure what to replace with at a budget that is gd quality, not loud, and passes in California.

Buy high flow cats, it should give you a small power boost and make your car sound better/louder if you like that.

I added a high cat ,but it given me a code after a few days ,I felt like I loss a performance , I dnt have the original catalytic converters to put bk in ,
Torvarris Brown anytime you replace factory parts with aftermarket, you need to get your car tuned. That’s why a lot of tuners recommend waiting until you have all of your bolt ons to install right before you tune it

I twisted an extension trying to remove the top bolt on my cats, and gave up. Any tips? 07 G35s
u need a half inch extention thats the only way to get it .spray some pb blaster to loosen them.

Took me a lot of PB blaster, two broken extensions, and a stripped bolt remover bit to get my driver side top bolt out, and we broke the bolt lol...

Yeah but the top nuts are connected to studs cant you just snap them off and make it easier. I mean you still gotta put them back on
