Well Vanitas is dark emotions. That includes sadness and misery. If I’m right on novel had him live in perpetual sadness and that’s why he wanted the X-blade.
Not gonna lie, this sounds like an early stage of a character's downward spiral into villainy. More specifically, a character who had been deeply hurt and is now in mourning over whatever happened. This is when in their pain, they begin to feel anger over what happened. The decent begins... I love it!
This suits vanitas. What many don’t understand is that he actually had no choice in the matter. Whenever he did chose something for himself, he was scolded and threatened by xehanort. Even when he wanted to just see Ventus. Vanitas had a mix pile of emotions. On one hand he actually loves Ventus and does everything for him (despite no one noticing bc they aren’t reading between the lines). But on the other he is full of envy and is jealous of what Ventus has. Friends, a loving family, a life full of freedom hope and choices. Something he can only dream of. Vanitas even fights Aqua due to him wanting to be the one to protect Ventus, and due to his jealousy of Aqua acting as his protector, he wishes to strike her down. He really suffers on the inside as he keeps switching between care to hate. Heck he even tries to badly injure ven in the beginning, only to merge with him close to the end of BBS. He even tries to convince him to merge with him. There is something more to this story. Something darker. Darker than vanitas. More of a threat than xehanort. Just lurking beneath the shadows. And while nobody else can feel it, he can. Perhaps originating from it.

Where does evil stem from if not dark feelings such as depression? Isn't that how Vanitas became what he was? He started off as a faceless entity and hated himself which created the Unversed. He was disgusted by them so he killed one by one, but since they're part of him he'd feel the pain of each death which would cause more negative emotions which would cause more unversed and this continued until he was nothing but pure evil and hatred made manifest

“When hope is lost.” I’m laying here with my eyes closed listening to this. It sounds like literally the polar opposite of “Dearly Beloved.” Where the original is happy, upbeat, and positive; this one is sad, depressing, and negative. You could say the original portrays “The Light” and being surrounded by friends, family, and loved ones who fill your heart with joy. While this version portrays “The Dark” and being isolated and alone with an empty and longing heart. I agree with everyone here, this version would be PERFECT for a game focusing solely on Roxas or Vanitas.

With his character story revealing his thoughts about his situation in III, this sounds a lot more sad than evil. Especially since he basically wants to stay dead.
His Character Story is almost a complete copy of that cutscene in the Japanese version of KH3. That version went into way more detail of Vanitas’ character instead of the why choose darkness cutscene that was over simplified in the global version

What Sora says before is pretty spot on with a few minor differences but the biggest difference is in the whole Darkness and Light dialogue. In the global translated version we have that but in the Japanese version instead he says *”I choose Darkness so the two of you can be the Light. I choose to be a Prisoner of Darkness so the two of you can live on the side of Light while I remain the shadow the two of you cast. How much closer could we be”* .After this I couldn’t find if Ven’s lines were drastically different but every fan translation shows pretty similar to what was in the Global version

This heart belongs again to Sora. All worlds begin in Sora, and all so end. The heart is no different. Sora sprouts within it; he grows, consumes it! Such is his nature! In the end, every heart returns to Sora whence it came.
So who's Terra/Lingering Will in that situation? Roxas? "Your body is Sora's, your heart doesn't exist, so why are you so defiant?!" Or Vanitas? This sounds like the aftermath of a huge clash between Ventus and Vanitis. Like a bad ending where Ven loses control and Vanitas takes over Ven’s body again. The only person left to take him out is Sora. That would be an emotional ride.

It's always any iteration of "My Dearly Beloved" that gets me. It's my favorite theme from Kingdom Hearts and finding this version just made me add it to my playlist of comfort songs. Kinda fitting you added Vanitas there too, gotta feel bad for him tbh.
This gives me some major vibes about Aqua's despair all those years trapped in the Dark World. Yearning, wishing, and hoping for someone-- ANYONE-- to come find her and lead her out of there. Only to slip into her despair, hopelessness, and hatred the longer she waited; becoming what we see in KH3 when Mickey and Riku find her before they bring her back to the Realm of Light. This fits the Misguided Master very well and it gives me chills. I can feel her pain and torment in these sad tones. I know this has a picture of Vanitas in it, but I get Aqua vibes from it.

Kingdom Hearts: Overwhelming Darkness The protagonists just take Ls left and right, hopefully making a lot of character development for some that could use it, as well as making for a well earned victory in the next installment.
a time traveller, using his power to move to the past present and future, gathering stories of his beloved world. the thing is, he seems to be losing bits of himself whenever he leaves his current time.
This song gives me the impression of someone who has lost everyone he loves and has no desire to live, someone who has given himself over to the darkness not because it's bad, but because no longer has the strength to stay in the light, someone who wants to be alone waiting for death to take him.

It doesn't really feel evil to me, but really bitter and sad. Like someone's in a very dark and deep place by themselves (depression basically)

This is just sad :( It feels like the love and devotion of the original, but lonely and corrupted. Like resignation that you don't have that same support around you. It is also really pretty and a perfect, dark mirror of the original. Now I wanna hug Vanitas. Which I usually do but still.

This sounds like the aftermath of a huge clash between Ventus and Vanitis. Like a bad ending where Ven loses control and Vanitas takes over Ven’s body again. The only person left to take him out is Sora.
That would be an emotional ride.

My friend sent me a clip saying the song was played in it and I instantly recognised the song and the version being this one, just sped up on his stream. It really fit the mood too.

It's always any iteration of "My Dearly Beloved" that gets me. It's my favorite theme from Kingdom Hearts and finding this version just made me add it to my playlist of comfort songs. Kinda fitting you added Vanitas there too, gotta feel bad for him tbh.

This gives me some major vibes about Aqua's despair all those years trapped in the Dark World. Yearning, wishing, and hoping for someone-- ANYONE-- to come find her and lead her out of there. Only to slip into her despair, hopelessness, and hatred the longer she waited; becoming what we see in KH3 when Mickey and Riku find her before they bring her back to the Realm of Light. This fits the Misguided Master very well and it gives me chills. I can feel her pain and torment in these sad tones.
I know this has a picture of Vanitas in it, but I get Aqua vibes from it.
