- Running 200w through a Cushcraft MA5B 5 band 3 element Yagi at 18 ft above the ground. 600 ft above sea level up on the Yorkshire Pennine Mountains above Bradford and Leeds.
Great signal with the YAESU FTDX 101mp up on 10m SSB into India.

Simon have my ma5b , thirteen years now have worked the world on it, only problem I had was I had to clean the traps a few times,the mt1 traps are the ones that seem to cause problems high swr on 15,20 meters.
Hi Derek good stuff on having the same antenna. I got this one in 2004 and it has not had any problems regarding the traps. It has a sticker saying it's a MN5B rather than MA5B. I presume it meant MN for mini ? Anyway brilliant antenna for sure. My swr is very good on all the bands and so far the traps are good. Thanks for the comment have a happy new year 👍

Hi Simon - interesting that you are reaching India, I think you said you made an India contact in your last video too. What time of day was that? I assume the evening gray line connects England to India this time of year. I keep a live gray line map on my desktop to see where it might bring me. Cheers!
Hi buddy yes it's a good catch and not very often but you know what happens when propagation occurs and we hear certain areas coming in for a few days it's very cool. I did work Patel twice this week, the first was at 10:15 UTC on the 23rd. Today was a bit later in the day at 12:30 UTC. I would guess he had been coming in a while before I came across his signal. Both times were very good signals. It's a good distance of 4200 miles plus a bit 😁. I seem to have a decent Path to the middle and far East from here. 73 enjoy the holiday and best wishes for the New year
Hi good evening Simon I've also worked him on 10 metres a hundred watt into a 50 metered he gave you five and nine he gave me five and seven a few weeks ago you were using 200 Watts I was just using barefoot 100 Watts until a piece of wire
