I was crying throughout the whole thing. I swear if I was there I wouldn't have run out of tears by the time the song was over. If anyone who discredits these people for being amateurs and being off tune here and there is here to hear this beautiful piece from the show then I believe you've completely missed the point of the show. Maybe even the point of living. Can't you feel how strongly, how beautiful their souls come across with every blow, stroke or pluck of their instrument? Isn't that kind of love and passion something that completely dwarves the occasional mistake? Or maybe was that line too sappy?
Thank you algorithm for showing this to me after a LONG slog of a day... and thank you to the people in the video who performed this piece! I wish I could convey just how much this lightened my day~~~
This is decent. I'm pretty sure the Davenport Pops isn't a professional outfit. It's probably a community band composed primarily of locals and students, and they turned in an ok performance.

Davenport Pops Orchestra the bass part sounds a bit off-tune though somehow.. also around 4:30 when the percussion/drum starts to come in, it sounds a bit off-beat, even if it's just a slightly bit, but people with good musical ear will be able to notice 'em .. just a bit constructive criticism from me. This song supposed to give you a calm feel, bring you tears or something like that. But with this arrangement i feel like its kinda ruined the feel completely, still good anyway but the original one is better.
It's not that good. It's off beat, there are lots of jarring pauses that break the flow, and then the pace quickens in spots unnaturally. he song doesn't feel calming in anyway. It feels harsh due to piano being off tune, mismatching the tone of the violins and violas. And plus all the students look bored to death. The arrangement may have been fine on paper, but the performance is not. This may pass for a high school performance, but come on this is Yale. The Davenports Pops Orchestra may be be a student band that is barely 13 years old, but it is supposed to be connected to their graduate schools as well. So it's not connected to any classes, but it has ties directly to Yale. This is unacceptable for a student organized group studying music to become professionals. Just what were the students doing during practice? I couldn't bare to put this in my portfolio if I was studying music seriously. I swear if student organized orchestra in a well respected music oriented college put out this type of performance they'd be forced to disband. Yale is a high end academic institution. I expected better of them, to have higher standards than a casual college club made up of students.
@@beverage7335 it's not a school orchestra performance competition -_- Maybe it is luck of proper audio recording equipment or conductor just not giving a shit about inappropriate bass.

yes it is beautiful piece but the bass player still missed many points (notes!) there. You can't unhear it
