Look, let everyone make up their own mind. I personally borrowed a motorbike, went for a ride and have already ordered it. Yes, a lot of people say that the Hornet is similar to the 500f (which I've always liked), but when the dealer put them side by side in the store, the Hornet is so much more massive and visually bigger, and it fit me really well and immediately I fell in love with the Hornet (I will have it in the yellow version😍🤤)... Well, if I take things like brand, price, performance, technology and components used, I do not have anything against😊 But let everyone buy what they want and what they like👍

Yes they did very well. This is 2023 not 1993, back in 1993 you had V twins and in line 4 everywhere. Any 599cc bike was an in line 4. Times have changed. The Yamaha MT-07 is the most sold bike on the market, so Honda gave us an "MT-07" better than the real MT-07 and I think they made the right choice. You're still very young and you dream about a past that you did not live in. I'm tired of in Line 4 bikes, you fill up the tank and after 150 km you have to fill it up again. The Parallel twin is the new in line 4.

I saw the new Hornet at a local motorshow about a month ago and right next to it there was a CB650R.

In addition, the CB650r is slightly more expensive, mainly due to its more robust construction and larger engine (4 cylinders). But I respect your opinion👍

The bike was built to fight with the middleweight competition and not cb650r. Look how good bike Honda made that most reviewers compare it to another Honda bike. CB650R is a great, good looking, 4 cylinder bike but if you look at specs you will see few interesting facts. Max torque on 2 cylinder is higher at lower revs (63 nm at 9500 vs 75/7000 in new hornet). Weight is also a factor when it comes to city bike (203 vs 190 in new hornet). Position on hornet is more upright and more relaxed for taller riders. The only thing that is worse than competition is a 160 tire at the back but on the other hand you don't have to bend in twisties so much to keep the same line - that's why many heavy adventure bikes have 110 and 150. I am looking to buy a new bike after selling my FJR1300 and CB650R looked like a no brainer for me at the start of my search, now at least i have to drive both.

After training on an MT-07 for my unrestricted license, it took me a little while to figure out how to get the same level of fun and playfulness out of my rather grown-up in comparison CB650R. Now that I have, I miss basically nothing about the crossplane twin, and the 650R's suspension blows the MT-07 out of the water.
That is to say, this new Hornet is probably an ideal beginner's first big bike, but unfortunately it doesn't really offer anything I want that I don't already get out of my 650R.
What's worse - they've stuffed it full of electronics and taken away perhaps the best feature both the MT-07 and 650R have in common - the cable throttle. I get that there are a whole host of benefits to going electronic, but to me, none of those make up for the loss of feel.

    • @neoretroguy4488

The 650R is a weird bike in its category. It's paired up with bikes built up to a budget and then you have a CB which feels so much different to it's competitors it feels premium, it's very very fast compared to the other 650 class, it can punch up its weight to the Z900 and the likes... but it's not a 600 supersport still.... very out of place bike but that's a good thing.

@@neoretroguy4488 We like weird and different, it's what keeps life fun ;)
But I agree, it occupies its own little niche in the market. I also like that they just took the plastics and clip-ons off the CBR and stuck on a nice headlight to make a naked without cheapening the whole bike in the process. Though it would have been closer to a "true" cafe racer with the clip-ons imho.

I think you're missing the point of this Hornet. It's not meant to compete with the 650R platform, that's in a class of its own. It's meant to eat the MT-07's lunch. Aside from looks (and bloody electronic throttles), it's positioned to do just that and I believe it absolutely will.
For the longest time, the MT-07 has been the choice for the budget-conscious first big bike buyer in the naked segment. And now Honda offer something 1. cheaper; 2. better handling; and 3. feature rich... yeh, Yamaha are in trouble.
Also, I may rag on about electronic throttles (and how shite they feel), but it seems most riders out there (especially newer ones) aren't purist tw@ts like me, so to them it's not even a downside. That leaves just looks. And for most people on a budget that makes it a no-brainer.

      @KRANKiT  Год назад

Is the throttle as snatchy as the MT-07? Does adjusting the engine braking/riding modes affect the throttle response? Also if you set aside the "bias" you mentioned in the video and weight it as it is against its main rivals, the MT-07 and the Trident, how does this bike hold up?

How do you compare a CB125F cc with 9 HP vs the CB750F with 91 HP? Not even the CB500F compares with this CB750.

this video is way too professional for 2.36k RUclipsr. Here, take my SUB!
About Honda. Where I live the CB650r is only 800e more expensive than Hornet. I would take 100 times CB650r instead of this ugly Hornet. Honda could make beauifull bike, another legend. A bike should look like it looked on early design projects, and yet they created "CB500 on steroids" with already looks like it has 8 years old

Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it! And yeah, that’s about the price difference in my market too, maybe a bit more at times

I must have a motorcycle that I enjoy looking at in addition to riding!
    The Hornet is ugly!
