Now Lexus offers some big upgrades and a new powertrain for its mass-market ev. Is it enough to bring buyers into a Lexus dealership? #rz300e
LEXUS has added a FWD model, the RZ300e, to its battery EV (hereinafter referred to as BEV) dedicated model "RZ" lineup, as well as some improvements, and released it at Lexus stores nationwide on November 30th.
Since the release of the RX400h in 2005, LEXUS has been a pioneer in electrification in the luxury market, constantly pursuing both excellent driving performance and environmental performance. Based on the electrification vision "Lexus Electrified" announced in 2019, we aim to realize a carbon-neutral society by popularizing electric vehicles such as HEV and PHEV while staying close to the needs of diverse customers and markets. In addition, we will use electrification technology to significantly improve basic performance and provide a driving experience and lifestyle unique to LEXUS battery EVs. As a luxury lifestyle brand, we will continue to respond swiftly and precisely to changes in the times and needs, and continue to take on the challenge of creating cars and providing experiences that exceed our customers' expectations.
As LEXUS' first BEV-only model since the release of the AWD model RZ450e, the RZ embodies the LEXUS-like car brought about by electrification technology with a ride and design that appeals to the senses, and is the starting point of the brand's transformation into a BEV-centered brand. This is a model.
The newly introduced RZ300e is a FWD model that inherits the driving concept "The Natural" that was established in the development of the RZ450e. Like the RZ450e, by adopting a BEV-specific platform (e-TNGA), we have achieved ideal inertia specifications through optimal placement of the battery and motor, as well as a lightweight and highly rigid body. Additionally, the rear suspension member was newly developed for FWD, and the concept of driving as an RZ was thoroughly developed regardless of the drive system.
In this partial improvement, we have adopted a "battery rapid temperature rise system" that contributes to improving rapid charging speed. By shortening the quick charging time at low outside temperatures, it contributes to improved usability for customers.
Additionally, in addition to installing additional reservable LEXUS charging stations to the LEXUS Electrified Program, a service program designed to enrich the time customers spend with their BEVs, we will also work with co-creation partners to provide new services and experiences. , to further expand the program.
Furthermore, we will additionally introduce the RZ in nine countries and regions, including Central and South America, to offer BEV options to even more customers. By adding the RZ300e to the RZ lineup, LEXUS will further accelerate its transformation into a brand centered on BEVs and respond to the diverse needs of customers.

They know it is a beliw average EV so why spend money on advertising.... .

Hello Kirk, thanks for many good reviews. I'm sorry that I'm a little critical now, but you might have done some guessing by using old results after the tests before the software updates in the comparison against the new FWD Lexus model with results from the new and updated software. I think they have increased the range a lot with higher efficiency after their software and system update. Because in the road test with the Norwegian Electric Car Assosiation, (which was one of the most critical before the updates) where they drove the opdated sister model of Lexus, Toyota bz4x and got a real range of aprox 500 km with a consumption of 1,3 Kw per 10 km. The drive was along with an Nissan Ariya which as normal had some higher consumption also in this road test. Toyota bz4x was also the best car in two typical winter-conditions tests carried out by El-Car 24 (they were very critical to bz4x in 2022) together with some of the most common electric awd family cars on the Norwegian market. Toyota bz4x has been one of the best selling cars on the Norwegian market from the second half of 2023 and now in january 2024. I wish you a nice spring! Best regards from Arne in Norway

I'm actually glad Lexus brought this one to us because I have the 450e Premium and the range has been the biggest downfall to many of us owners. I'm making 150 miles of range (80% charge) last about 3 days for me for my daily commute but it is not suitable for everyone. This extra bump in range and the improvement to charging in colder temps will be interesting to see. 266 miles granted is not up to par with the competition but this seems more than enough if you charge at appropriate times. I currently get 200 miles at 100% charge and those extra 60 miles would really help with my daily commute and mini road trips. Hopefully, Lexus still offer the 30 days of loaner vehicles still for the 300e looking forward to seeing the reviews. Thanks again for the update and information.

We will get the Lexus RZ300e in Norway in mai/junei. It's no problem with the guessometer in RZ now, but I don't understand anyone will use 20" wheels because the consunption is much higherq, the 18" wheels also has better comfort and don't wear out the tires so fast with lower tire cost. With the 18" RZ450e in our driving the range is looking good in real range. Toyota bz4x was the best ev in two wintertests in Norway and is among the best selling evs in Norway. You must remember that not every markets has the driving a ross the states like you have in the US. When the handling and comfort is more importent, and by us many people don't need more range, and why driving around with the battery weight for 650 km if you may be one time would like to drive such a distance.

I love Lexus, love the design of the RZ, it's even quite nice to drive (unless you want to drive in a sporty way), but the range AND recharge (especially by cold weather) are ridiculous for the price. Any BEV that cost 20k EUR less is better on those aspects. And sadly it's really a dealbreaker for me and for most people in Europe, as I've never seen a single one on the road here. They dropped prices by 10000 EUR since the launch but that's not even enough. I'm really sad as I'd love to buy it if it had decent range (say 500 km WLTP).

Now, for example, a Tesla is a cheap plastic car with a battery... horrible! I still don't understand why they say Tesla is good... it charges faster? but you can't do more than 3 fast charges per week so you don't lose your guarantee! and have more autonomy! So a Tesla is a battery on wheels? I prefer my Lexus!!! luxury car! phenomenal guarantee! It just shows the excellent quality of the car! @@Escanor990 America is a huge country. EVs work better for small European countries where people drive 10 miles a day.

Behind is what? Toyota leads the industry in profit margins again as the EV makers including Tesla are scrambling for slim profits. Toyota is putting their eggs in solid state batteries and not the current technology which is hardly convincing the public to transition to EVs. Toyota is ahead. This Lexus 450e is for those who want a EV as a second car and others who need an EV here and now.
