I’ve had mine for almost a month… I love it. Been driving it a ton. Nearly 1400 miles and still a half a tank of gas. It’s sooo comfy and feels amazing behind the wheel. At first I was a bit offput by it having the same drivetrain as the Rav4 but then I realized, it’s just a damn good engine that is tried and true. arguably no one does hybrids/phevs better then Toyota/Lexus. It’s dependable. It’s got plenty of torque and speed, and is honestly so relaxing to drive. I’ve been getting roughly 40miles on a full charge over night on a level one charger. I personally like the design over the new X5 and Volvo offerings.
At least twice a month don't charge your vehicle. You have to keep that gas engine running and working! Check out the Car Care Nut about the Toyota plug in hybrid models, he is a Toyota Master Mechanic.
Of all the RX models I would consider this 450+ or the 500h. I love the fact that you take every Lexus SUV on a trail route when reviewing them. This give me options depending on the terrain to choose the correct SUV for my travels Thank you great camera work and details as well.
It’s another excellent review. 👏 Is there any chance of testing a Grand Cherokee with Quadra-Drive I (like Limited 4X4)? Everybody is testing out the advanced 4x4 versions, but seeing how the QD-1 system performs at your off-road track would be great.
Jeep hasn't made the Quadra Drive 1 system in many years. Limited models have Quadra Trac II, the Trail hawk and Summit/High Altitute has the Quadra Drive II with the air suspension and LSD. I can tell you that all Grand Cherokee systems are better than all other AWD systems.
What was the electric range of those when new? I'd like a PHEV but yeah if range drops considerably by 150k (I presume a gradual decline) I may not be as enthusiastic about them as that pure electric would be one of the main reasons for purchase to use on commutes and such.
I think it was about 12... It wasn't much. But one time I was able to drive to my brother's house without the gas engine turning on. And often to the bus station to go to work and back, and often for grocery shopping... I used the battery a fair amount. Even with such a short distance, I once went nearly a full summer without putting gas in it (I'd use my motorcycle for longer trips)
@@minnybiker4505 oh thats not too bad then. Yeah as long as it could get to those local places and back, I'd be happy. I'd like about 20 miles to be comfortable, but with a little loss of the years maybe good to have something like this with over 30 so that even at 100k miles it'll be more than sufficient.
Yeah, I miss it. I have an Outback now, which is nice... But I miss the plug in. Side benefit... I could run a TV and little crock pot off the battery for tailgating at football games! That car was handy. I just stopped liking how low to the ground it was.
@@minnybiker4505 yeah that's another huge benefit in my mind. I've seen the hybrid F-150s, Tacomas and some EVs now that have massive amounts of power onboard for work or recreation like you mentioned. Sounds so nice just to have that at your disposal.
Great video. I love mine. However, 2.5 liter 4 cylinder is not turbo charged. I have owned the RX500h where that has the 2.4 liter turbo charged 4 cylinder.
This may sound like an odd comment given the class size but they always feel really small inside when you sit down. I don’t know. I’ve been in them periodically over the past 20 years. When I compare it to something like a Corsair, the Lincoln feels more open and wider.
@@michellemooresingsI've found the same thing after sitting in it at the New York International Auto Show. Very cramped driver's area. Bought a new Acura RDX and love everything about it except the gas mileage.
I reckon there is a lot there to like in a commuter/family CUV. Not sure that is my choice of a road going rig tho. Used to love the older RX350. But I would not consider them for off pavement travel unless there was no other options. Capable, does not = should do. lol
Hmm I can see some cross shopping the two but really two different categories of vehicles I’d say the 17mpg of the GX will get old pretty fast if one drives enough lol
@chibbyylol doesn't invalidate my point. Let's be honest. It's a very small % of people who will buy the GX that will take it offroading. Most people will use it as a daily driver. Anybody who can afford the 2 is not so worried about the mpg.
I’d like to see your review on the Lexus TX 350. If you think that is worth over grand highlander hybrid max powertrain for a similar price. I like the max powertrain.
Question; Did Toyota (Lexus) finally made an extended seat on the leg part? As much as I like Toyota (not their prices mark up) they should do a better work with their seat comfort. I don’t know if this is an issue just for Toyota. Never owned a Lexus.
Yes, there is a function to extend out the driver's and front seat passenger's seats to support those with long legs. These seats are EXTREMELY comfortable. However, I do wish that there was a massage seat option. We have it my parents' LS 500 and it's awesome.
Price is insane. $75K+ for an upscale RAV4 prime when RAV4 is overpriced to begin with. You’d have to be blinded by brand loyalty to consider at this price.
Even brand loyalty can’t justify it. Because the fan girls can’t come up with pathetic excuses other than mythical reliability. Like that even matters at this point

Interesting variation of the Rav4 Prime that is in such high demand. Pity about the 21" rubber banded wheels and infotainment (heads up for buttons, given sunglasses knocks the display out, is a bummer).
I have one and LOVE it. I wear sunglasses all the time and never have a problem with the HUD, the multi information display, or the rear view LCD "mirror." I'm not sure why you think sunglasses knocks out the display but it doesn't.

Sat in the Crown at the New York International Auto Show. Didn't care for it .
The engine is not turbocharged.
Texas is a two plate state. Front license plate is mandatory. Interesting that Toyota feels they’re exempt from this law.
The only problem is that it uses premium fuel. Doesn’t save much money at all.
