(In honor of my only sibling Kristine, who introduced me to Zep in the late 1970s, but was killed suddenly in an auto accident in 2014. Miss you every day Krissie, but we know you're up there jammin' with Bonzo)
So sorry for your loss, Matt.
Sorry for your loss. Sounds like she was a cool sister with great taste.
I love the brief little tour they did a Britain in early 73. Really kind of at their peak and kind of a bit more of an adventurous set before they finalized it for the North American tour and made some changes. Zepplin viewed this brief jaunt through England in 73 as a low pressure warm-up before their North American tour. And I think for this very reason they’re extremely loose and carefree, almost flippant in their playing, leading to some uniquely fantastic shows. This one is very early and is a good example of what I’m describing. I also know there is a Stoke-on-Trent show that is really great.
And I love when they tour for an album before the album comes out and people are hearing these songs for the first time. Like could you imagine being at this concert and you’re a big zeppelin fan and the second song is over the hills and far away, and you’ve never heard it before. You would just be totally blown away. You’d be like this band is getting better and they’re their last album you already know to be musical perfection. They’re in the lab here. Some songs will make the US tour, some won’t. The setlist and the arrangements are both in flux here. So yes these are a really much overlooked and very unique set of shows. OK so just listen to it. Right.
Very insightful, thank you for this!
So glad that at least we have all shared in enjoying Zep on this life’s journey!
What a gem! Plant’s voice is fairly shot, but the rest of the band is ON, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard a better Led Zep soundboard.
Its actually not a Soundboard. It is a Multi-track recording and Page does have the original recording. This means that the final stage hasn't been done yet, which is the final mixing of the recording. Since Pagey still has the original mixes, after the final professional mixing stages and edits, he could turn this concert into an Mp3, a CD, an HDCD, a FLAC (Lossless) or a BlueRay Audio Disk. a couple years back, Page said in interviews that there were plans for MANY concerts to be released for the bands 50th Anniversary. I believe there was planned 2 concerts right away, then 2 each year for the next 10 years. I'm gonna try to find that interview as I believe my numbers are off a bit, but you get the point. As you know, nothing was released because "the band couldn't agree on which concerts," It's kind of true. The real reason is that Plant has became WAY TOO CRITICAL on his singing. It's this very reason why he never released any concerts from his solo tours, especially nothing from the 1983, '85, '88, '90 and 1993 tours. It's also the reason why Page Plant never released any of the shows from their 2 tours in 1995 and 1998. Plant just thinks his singing is horrible. When the truth is, fans would LOVE any concert by Zepp or from Plants solo if it was released. So, the fans lose out because of Plant. Plant has instructed his kids to release everything and OK everything to be released upon his death.
Should be an official release of this show!
It was prepared for such and ditched for being a substandard performance.
You mean the show was ditched?
That sucks
Absolutely not, the vocals suck
Listening to them, today as then, is always a great satisfaction, they have never ceased to excite, they always stand out from the others, they have always distinguished themselves from the others, they have made music, they have created something monstrous, fascinating, musical, that after so many years continues to surprise us for us, of that generation in which we grew up, how many memories linked to these unforgettable songs have given us so many emotions to us of that adolescent generation of those years ago
it has an excellent soundboard sound, better than many others arround there, this one must be taken from original masters they record for an official albun, love it
Precisely my thoughts. This sounds exceptionally good. And I always loved this tour the best. Houses of The Holy is my all time fav Led Zep album.
Yeah but physical is the best!
@alonsorchacon6471 Well if it was from masters for an official album it wouldn't be from a soundboard, it would be from a multi-track recording.
The best thing to me about the sound is it is mixed like a live band ie: JPJ bass is up front, Jimmy’s guitar tone is a that of a loud Les Paul (not heavy handedly EQd to fit into a studio mix) and no one is trying to sound perfect. A relaxed real rock & roll band having a great time being themselves.
There is no way I can pick a favorite album!
Love the extended Bluesy Whole lotta Love version on here. Fantastic!
MR. BONHAMMMMMMMM!!!!!
So powerful, yet jazzy 😊
Saw this set at the Long Beach Arena 1973 they were awesome that night. Mountain and Mr West did a great job as well that night.👏
Not even at their best and still untouchable
There will never Beeee a Band of the likes of Zepp'ln😊
We're so starved of Zepp's live performance's in Ur country, I'm just happy as fux 2 Able 2 hear Em" on the internet,,, cheers!!!😊😊😊😊😊
Great sound. I feel bad for hard core Zep fans. There are tons of horrible recordings out there. Thanks for posting this one.
Yes! This is one of the best ‘73 recordings I’ve ever heard. Wow. Was this remastered? Hot damn!
Perfect sound mix . Strong show .
This recording is a treasure. If you want to hear some "peak Zeppelin" from the "Song Remains the Same"era, you can do no better. Fascinating alternate variations on the songs and great playing.
Yeah, finally, a super recording sound, as a bootleg! Here we can feel the monstruous POWER, of THE ZEP😂👍And, how they were improvising every night, like Hendrix....Same tour, as New York, 1973, but totally different!😂If you're fans, listen to the previous, or the next concert after the 3 legendary nights at New-York, msg in 1973 (i don't remember exactly, i bought bootlegs 30 years ago, i was 14😂), LIVE IN BUFFALO (a town near New-York), a fucking good bootleg (pirates album in France😂)....Peace from France ✌️Thanks for that, Conney!
You have to feel sorry for Plant. He caught a nasty chill on the 2nd of January after he and Bonham hitchhiked to Sheffield after Bonham's Bentley broke down. He sang anyway but his voice was shot. Listen to the bootleg of that show. They had to cancel the next two gigs. On this show he is really protecting his voice especially at the beginning and that is three weeks after Sheffield. They had recorded this gig for a possible live release but shelved it.
Hmm interesting...thanks for the info 👍✌️
..didn't know Bentleys were that unreliable. A Toyota Camry and we would have a perfect Zeppelin recording.
Brilliant sound and performance firing on all cylinders.🎶 😍🎶
Elvis has left the building
What a set!
These guys were ON that night ❤❤❤
The beautiful interplay between Jimmy and John during the Rain Song…..wow
What a gem
FANFUCKINTASTIC😍
I've always admired the way JPJ and Bonzo swing as a single rhythmic entity with Jimmy. That's rare!
Yeah that's what I've always liked about that
That's why it's so good
Awesome stuff .... Zep#1 No matter what ‼️👍🏼🤘🏼

Boy am I pissed off at my mother after all these years. Could have been in Hampton NH. Oh well....saw them a bunch of times as well as Plant and Page and Plant solo...Still sounds awsome... Everything is still there, spirit, heart, soul, smile, looks...aw hell the whole package even at his young age.. not to far behing him...Awsome

Fantastic recording!! Those who paid the £1 ($1.27) admission certainly got their money's worth of entertainment that night!

La mejor banda del mundo,,puro blues.. rock
How amazing is this that it’s the beginning of the tour and it would end on those 3 magical nights at Madison Square Garden on 7/27 28 29/73 which became The Song Remains The Same it’s great hearing them play in front of a smaller audience instead of the gigantic audience they played for at Madison Square Garden the version of San Francisco was absolutely beautiful by the time they got to Madison Square Garden
Great listen. Much appreciated.

Fantastic! Thanks for this!
The band sounds good. Nice recording and good mix of tunes. Plant's voice though. He really fried it out. Compare it to Albert Hall 1970 which is my favorite Zep recording.
This is amazing! I am at loss for words. Thank you
Thanks so much for sharing! What a setlist - very different from the movie filmed on the same year. I miss No Quarter… how many more times is cool
Tosi hyvä❤
Straziante la condizione vocale di Plant

Plant must be sick but man he sounds great in this low register when he has to
Hampshire is the county, Southampton is the more specific location.
Real small place fireplace in the back ground
