Every single time I watch this video, I start crying. This is THE Broadway musical, and always always will be, especially in light of it's final performances. Don't be sad. I believe Rent WILL be back....we just have to wait, and count the minutes, but NOTHING can keep Rent down. It's just too powerful.

I love that! Eden Espenossa is in the current (and final) cast of rent, and she and Idina were both on stage at the same time. Just amazing. The current cast of rent is very good!
I saw the tony awards in tv and i was bawling. Jonathan Larson is such an inspiration, The words he wrote have touch some many ppl and i'm just so thankful to be one of them. Call me corny but rent is truly one of the best musicals ever to be created
Sunday, Sept 28 is the last time to see Sony Productions film of the last Broadway performance of "Rent". See it, it's amazing to see so much of the action so closely. It's amazing! I hope they sell it as a DVD.
Rent is the reason Broadway has become such a close community. It perfectly describes how some of us live, and sadly, die for our art. If Rent wasn't closing on Broadway this September, the world might have been a much brighter,happier place. So great thanks to Jonathan Larson, wherever he may be.
i love rent. i love how when idina was talking and the she turned to taye when she said "it changed our lives..." because without rent, she and taye wouldnt have met. that was so sweet!
i love this musical, i was sooooo obsessed with idina menzel, that i saw the movie when i was only 10!!! with eden espinosa playing idina's character, i actually saw eden in wicked. some kid also interviewed Daphne Rubin-Vega, i was sooo jealous of that kid. i love the part when idina glares at taye and said "it also changes our lives!" Best musical ever.
I think that this was beautiful...Yes im crying! Everything that they say is true and this was the BEST musical EVER, its meaning wasn't just for entertainment but its message really touches the lives of everyone who will listen long enough and take in what it means to "measure love"

I watched the Tonys only because i wanted to see people that i loved because i just recently became interested in Musical Theatre and then I heard that Idina Menzel was gonna be on stage i was psyched!!! I saw Anthony Rapp and Adam Paschal today in the farewell tour of rent, and it was AMAZING. Hah, my playbill touched Anthony's sleeve! Hehehe. But this play is so amazing, it's a huge shame that it's not on broadway anymore. And I don't think it'll ever be the same, even in a revival; I dunno, it's just the kind of show that you can't, can't, CAN'T change.
Rent deserves this, it truly did change the face of Broadway forever. And unlike the writers/producers of Les Miserables the musical (who are still around and writing today), we will never have another show from Jonathan Larson, who was a truly brilliant man.

I love how Lin-Manuel Miranda gave a standing ovation to it at the end. He has been cited saying that 'RENT' was an inspiration to him, laying out the ground work for what later would become 'In the Heights'.
