- My husband and I have been on the ketogenic diet now for a few weeks and we are learning the ins and outs (which is good for our bodies and somewhat confusing on our budget!) This will probably last us about a week and a half (and some items even longer). I've included the meal plan towards the end as well!

I'm so astonished at the ailments that keto can heal and reverse! That's really what intrigued me, because I sure wasn't excited to give up my sweets but I feel better than ever!
So eating a pound steak with tons of butter daily lowers cholesterol? Whatever.
Yes it can if you don't combine that with a typical high carb diet. Do a bit of research.
Where are you guys finding keto eating guides and plans etc at? I'm a mom of four and need to lose 30 lbs. I'm 40 and this time the baby weight is not coming off. My baby is 2 now! I need help.
Love these videos. I've been on Keto for 2 months and have lost 22 lbs. Also have been shopping at Aldi for our family of 5 including one teen boy and two tween boys. Our bill was between $250-300 per week before shopping at Aldi. Now I hover between $150 - $175 per week. Love the savings!!!
Yay Keto! Sounds like it's going well. I'm 3 weeks in and enjoying it so far. Surprised at how NOT hungry I am most of the day! Aldi really saves the day on the grocery budget, that's for sure.

I always do big hauls at Aldi. I shop for two weeks at a time. I would like to scale it back to one week. Even at two weeks we always fall short on some things and I spend a ton!
When I try to do 2 weeks, we fall short on some staples as well. It's like a guessing game sometimes. Weekly works best and then I sometimes have to pick up a few odds and ends that I've forgotten or we somehow run out of in between weeks. A majority of this haul will last 2 weeks (for dinners anyway) with what we have in the pantry/freezer. So that's good!
aldi has really cheap and delicious black bean veggie burgers for non meat options. Also try buying the organic bag of avocados. It usually ends up being way cheaper then buying them single.

I know this video was a year ago but I’ve been talking myself into doing Aldi only for all of January and because I have nothing to do I just put everything you got into the Walmart grocery app to see the price difference. I did everything the same size and Walmart brand, no name brands. Even with some Walmart items being cheaper than the Aldi item your Aldi haul was $18.01 cheaper than it was in the Walmart app!! I think I’m sold 😉
That "little bit" adds up over the course of a month/year! :)

Hiya! The chicken keto pizza crust is delicious! We alternate between that and the fathead crust. For pizza sauce, a small can of tomato sauce like you have there with garlic and Italian seasoning to taste is awesome! we add red pepper flake to ours as well.

Quick question...do you guys work out? I have low blood sugar anyway (hypoglycemic) so I always have a snack around and I workout a LOT. As I'm sure you know. So I am wondering how this diet would affect a heavy exerciser.
Honestly? I don't lol. Much to my husband's dismay. He, however, works out 6 days a week. There are also plenty of bodybuilders, etc that bulk/gain while eating keto!
I have had low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) for years. Tried all diets, even raw vegan.... nothing helped. Then I discovered keto. Blood sugar stabilized within weeks; no longer needed to have snacks on hand....then started fasting regime which is easy once you're fat adapted. It completely reset my hormones and reversed my hypoglycemia, pre-diabetic metabolic syndrome issues. Lost close to 50 pounds too. I feel like a new, younger person. I do double back to back (3 hrs) martial arts classes 2-3 times per week and have more energy, stamina and power because of keto combined with intermittent fasting. I think it's important to figure out what works for your individual body. Good luck!

Great haul!!! Do you guys recommend the KETO diet? Is it hard to stay on track or come up with recipes?
I fell into it pretty seamlessly because I used to count calories over the years and the main difference is just watching where the calories come from and keeping carbs below 20 net (carbs - fiber, essentially). I've not had much trouble for meals, but we keep things simple. I made up a big batch of shredded chicken yesterday and we ate it last night and tonight on top of a big bed of romaine lettuce, topped with sour cream, cheese, olives and hot sauce. It's like a game of tetris sometimes trying to fit the right foods into the right amounts to hit caloric goals, but I enjoy it and it doesn't bother me!
Other people do "lazy keto" where they don't count calories, but eat approved foods until satiated.

We don't mind it at all! We honestly don't buy a ton of canned chicken up until recently, but it's good! That's exactly what we use it for...chicken salads (and now pizza crust haha)
I make chicken salad from canned chicken from Sam's Club. (Not a member, so I buy it when I have a one-day pass.) Just drain it well, and flake it before adding other ingredients. Very yummy. :-)

I'm funny about canned chicken and tuna. Prefer to make my own roast chicken and use that but sometimes it's not always possible. Lazy girl kicks in real hard sometimes so it would be nice to make some real quick. Will look into it next time I go. Thanks for sharing :)
+Erin H try a van and let me know! I mean. It's canned chicken. Definitely not the same as home toasted but works in a pinch. I spend a lot more time in the kitchen now so I take some shortcuts here and there haha

Because I shop at Aldi as well, but somehow I always go over0 the limit especially when my husband is with me. And we pretty much use the same products, if you shop at Aldi everybody is using the same products. Lol!

It's a sister store to Trader Joe's! They do carry a lot of organic & gluten free items, though.

Working on a budget we do the best we can, but thank you! Also, we like a variety of cheese. My husband has an ounce or two a day and I have a few ounces a week. The kids like to snack on it as well.
You should try Rao's homemade sauce ... so great !I use the arrabbaitta and its 2 carbs for 1/2 cup. Amazing ....
I've heard so many good things about Rao's but the price is holding me back! haha

Lost 80lbs going vegetarian. I was born with mitralvalve and a-fib heart conditions and now don't have them near as bad as growing up! Really recommend cutting meat. Think about the dyes, fillers, and how they preserve something that should be decaying! Chemicals, chemicals, chemicals!

I know!!! Good news is that much of it will actually last an entire extra week. I did a meal plan after shopping and got 2 weeks of dinners out of this and what we had on hand and in the freezer, aside from fresh stuff and a few snacks that kids will have eaten by the time I shop again haha

I did watch the Magic Pill and this grocery haul was quite a while back. My kids are not on a ketogenic diet (but I am) but they eat a well rounded diet with high quality proteins, produce and a bit of dairy/treats here and there.
I think there are a lot of fruits and veggies in there too. Not everyone feeds their kids the same way as someone else. Everything in this world is considered bad so I guess we should not eat or drink anything and live in a bubble.
