I read an article the other day talking about how we got in this mess, and it was talking about how newscasters, the gop etc were all complicit. I think the voters feel the same way. Since you guys have a multi-party parliamentary system, I'm not sure I'm interpreting the results correctly; but it looks like a coalition of right-wing parties are going to control both houses of Parliament? (Even though the two major left-wing parties combined got more votes? How does that work? Is it because Labor and the Greens didn't arrange a coalition in advance or something? Sorry for asking silly questions.)
Hang on. It's because of preferential voting. So all the smaller right-wing parties' votes got added to the coalition total, bringing them ahead of Labor. Right?
