I worked for Toyo tires north America for 6 years mixing rubber. Nitto and toyo are made on the same machines from start to finish. Raw materials, construction on the tire building machines, curing and final inspection are all the same. Just get the nittos. But honestly though Toyo open country tread wear is mind blowing to say the least. I purchased a set for my buddy's Colorado with the employee discount. He had 70,000 on them with plenty and I seriously mean plenty of tread remaining.

Living on a dirt road with winter snow, I chose the 33” 285/75-16 Ridge Grapplers for my Cummins. Good in snow, rain, hardpack and better in mud than the typical all season/terrain tires. I have never seen a tire resist hydroplaning as much as the Ridge Grapplers. Quiet and good mileage.
Update Feb 2022: The Ridge Grapplers began to wear unevenly. Alignment and balance was checked OK. Replaced with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac’s and after 30,000 miles good, even wear, quiet and more durable than the Ridge Grapplers.

The only issue I have with the Toyos is the sidewall looks super tame. If they had a more aggressive sidewall like the nittos, they would be perfect. I’ve owned Falkens, Nittos, Toyos, Mickey Thompson’s, and my absolute favorite by far was the Toyo. The last time I ran the Toyo was I believe when they came out with the Open Country ATII. I’m not kidding I probably ran those tires for 80k miles with plenty of tread depth. I also really like my Falken Wildpeak ATs, but they didn’t last my very long. I’m still running them, I’ve had them for about 15k miles and they are probably down to 3/4 or 1/2 tread now.

I’m looking hard at the ridge grappler . I like that these tires are available in the 35 tall by 11.5 inch wide vs all the other brands that just have 35’s in 12.5 wide .
A little narrower helps with gas mileage and traction in deep snow ..as well as throwing less dirt up the side of the truck . I drive a lot of pavement and highways and do tow around 10 to 12 thousand pounds on a regular basis ... but also go off-road to hunt and explore on a weekly basis.. some times several times per week .
These tires seem like the perfect compromise of everything ... my only concern, and what might keep me from getting them.. is their on road snow and ice performance. No a lot siping on those blocks.i life in the mountains and drive on snow covered roads at least 4-5 months of the year . For that reason I may end up with a BFG ko2 or general grabber atx .. but then I’m stuck with the 12.5 inch wide tire .... decisions decisions ....

I bought a set of Toyo Open Country R/T 33 x12.50 from these guys in 2017. I rotate on the reg and have 72000 miles on them. Still plenty of tread. I will say they stick to the road well and have no issues in the mud, sand, or rain (no snow in FL). They are on a 2014 GMC 1500 Z71. I tow pretty regularly a couple different small boats. I’m about to buy another set as they seem to be dry rotting on some of the edges. I’m no tire expert, but I have owned plenty of much lesser tires. I went with the Toyo as they look much more aggressive than the Nitto. After looking at Ridge Grapplers with a little wear they look like a rounded balloon and have no square aggressive look anymore. The Toyo R/T have been fantastic and with the square aggressive edge they will keep looking aggressive. They do hum a bit more than I wanted for a hybrid but love them. They go anywhere in snow. No mud testing yet.

Ridge grapplers. Soft rubber. Chunks on my Rocky driveway. Quiet and long lasting on highway. I love it even though it can't handle off road. You're welcome. Aloha!

I have friends that run the nittos. They all complained about the lugs chunking off. I went with toyo because of it. Even the discount tire guy told me it is common for nittos to chunk off.

Hey guys, have you seen a 315/60 R20 Toyo RT fit on a 2015-2018 F-150 with a 1.5 leveling kit on the stock factory 20” wheels? Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

That won’t work. That’s a 35’ tire with 12.5” on the ground. You’ll have two problems. First 35s won’t fit on a 1.5 level kit on a F150 even if it’s a 4x4. Second, I think the factory 20s are + 44 offset so with 315s, most likely you won’t have the clearance to fit the brakes and other components on the mounting side. I have a 17 F150 4x4 with a 2.5 level and run 295/60 R20 with +1 offset and there is no rubbing. Good luck
