This took 39 different edits and re-uploads after getting blocked 38 times. Hardest one yet! It's near impossible to chop up a movie that just doesn't stop 😂
Holy shit. As commander Taggart would say... "Never give up. Never surrender."
Thankyou for the perseverance to bring us your reaction. I have a reaction suggestion for Halloween, I know it's 6.5 months away but I will forget if I don't say it now. The film is stir of echoes.
Thanks for your effort! Your reaction had me smiling and laughing all the way through :)
Is that why there was a pixelated cigarette? Are you kidding?
Thank you for all your effort. It still came out really well.
"Magnificently outrageous" is a perfect description of this film. I love how the bigger the stunts/action get, the more playful and humorous they become - almost like a kid playing with his action figures, but with a $100 million budget!
Haha you're not wrong 😂
"Why did it explode?...I don't care."...exactly, this guy gets it.
It always amazed me that Tom Arnold didn't get more big time acting roles after this. He's spot-on hilarious in a realistic way. Of course, this whole movie is essentially the textbook "perfect" action movie. Love it!
He's one of those people who I instantly recognise but can't place where from.
Just imdb'd him and he's done way more than I expected. Loads of recent stuff too.
He was great in this movie, though!
His marriage to Roseanne and his tabloid stories stilted his career.
I suspect he got in his own way, with certain life choices. But he’s very good here.
I love the horse grunt/noises when arnold blames the horse
That horse was classically trained, I'm sure!
Jamie Lee Curtis has been one of my fave actors since Halloween 1978. She absolutely shines in this movie. This has such a great cast and it’s just a lot of fun to watch. I’m pretty new to your channel but so far you have not disappointed. Keep up the great content and great work!
I think this is the third movie of hers that I've watched on the channel so far. She's been great!
Glad you're enjoying yourself over here. Great to have you 🙌
Great movie, and Tom Arnold was at his very best in this one. Bill Paxton was his usual amazing self as well. RIP Bill Paxton :(
I think this is one of the most perfect movie. Perfect pacing, perfect mix action/humour, perfect casting
But all dumbed down for 16 yr olds. Far from perfect.
@@tempsitch5632 There are different types of humor, intelligent humor like Harry Met Sally and silly humor like in the movies: Airplane and Top Secret, True Lies goes in that line too, it's a style of humor based on comical situations, not so much on jokes said in words, to me True Lies humor has always worked for me, I always laugh at those same jokes, My favorite is the one about the camera that runs out of battery while the villain gives a speech that is being recorded, and the one about the terrorist van that falls off the bridge because of a pelican, and as silly as the jokes are, True Lies doesn't pretend to be serious at all, it laughs at itself, it's like a parody of spy movies. What I don't like are the forced word jokes like Marvel does with their movies, where always after a serious and dramatic moment, one of the super heroes always ruins the moment by saying a stupid joke, that's very out of place, you have to know where to put the jokes and at what moments, and in that sense James Cameron knew very well where to put the jokes.
@@javix2013 You brought nothing to the conversation.
@@tempsitch5632 You say that on purpose to minimize my idea and my comment, but you know well that I have given you a lesson on what is comedy and that is the truth, even if you refuse to accept it.
@@javix2013 You’re not smart enoufh to talk to me. Stay in school, kid.
Great reaction! 2 items. 1 Tom Arnold was in a very public & nasty divorce from Rosanne Barr & the line. "What kind of sick twisted B. takes the ice cube trays out of the freezer" Is almost word for word from courtroom testimony. & 2 When page 10 is Missing & Arnold punches the truck's window. The 'stunt' window was the front passenger door NOT the rear door, that one, was real glass.
Oh wow!
That's some good trivia!
“Higher than pterodactyl tits” is a wonderful description, definitely stealing that 😂
And 38 edits is an obscene amount, thanks for making the effort to get it uploaded
Hahaha that's what I thought when I first heard it 😂
I had to pause the video, because I was laughing so hard that I was missing commentary!
Jamie Lee Curtis actually did part of the helicopter stunt herself.
"In order to get the shot we had to wire me to the helicopter at base camp and then fly for 20 minutes over the water to get to the 7 mile bridge where the wreckage took place,” Curtis said, saying that the picture took place just three days before her 35th birthday.
As it turns out, a couple of scenes were pretty rough to film. Namely, the limousine car chase scene that was filmed at high speed, and the famous helicopter sequence. Lee Curtis shared in an interview just how committed she was to do the stunts herself.
Curtis explained in a Facebook post that while her stunt double Donna Keegan deserves all the credit for the scene in which Curtis’ character Helen is pulled by Arnold Schwarzenegger out of a limousine moon roof and over burning wreckage, Curtis herself did soar in the air so they could achieve one magnificent overhead shot.
@ 5:52
Reminds me of the line:
“A real intelligence agent *has* no ego, no conscience, no remorse, only a sense of professionalism.”
This movie is wild and I love it
Good Work as always!!!!
Nothing like the Terminator being married to Laurie Strode and having Faith the Slayer as their daughter! : )
Oh my God I'm dying from laughter seeing your head on Jamie Lee Curtis's body 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It was a memorable one.
I couldn't help myself 😂
You have some excellent editing on your channel. One of the best on youtube.
Thanks so much!
I have fun doing it.
Screen legend Charlton Heston as Arnold's boss in the spy agency. First time I saw this movie, I thought those Harrier's were the most awesome jets I've ever seen. Jamie Lee did her own stunt with the helicopter scene at the bridge.
The dude in the bathroom fight has to be an absolute unit to make Arnold look like a normal guy.
I didn't think about that!
That bridge sequence is one of the greatest miniature shots ever, so epic and sells the scale so well.
Movie is the perfect example of action snowballing from start to finish. Outstanding, masterful and works when you would otherwise doubt.
Great reaction!
Absolutely!
Thanks for watching along 🤙👊
'I married Rambo' is one of my absolute favourite lines ever
You only had to pitch this to Arnold. They could pitch anything and if Arnold agreed then the Studios agreed. Arnold was at his Apex in 94
People definitely over-use the claim that _"They just don't make movies like this anymore"..._ but this is a case where it really applies. They never made a movie quite like this after OR before this movie came out. And it's been stuck in copyright hell for decades, which is why it never made it to Blu Ray. I believe it's scheduled for 4K release this year, though! Can't wait!
I still think Cameron wasted a golden opportunity about 10 years ago to make a sequel with Eliza Dushku when she was fresh off of Buffy/Angel and Dollhouse. It would have fit perfectly into his sequel formula.
Oh my God, that could've been INCREDIBLE
Ooh, that would've been good! I wonder if he'll ever do one.
@@RyanCarrington Not until he finishes all 5 Avatars 😅
I knew that you were really going to enjoy this movie. Lol. Your laughter was pure gold! Great review.
I really didn't expect this movie to be like this, which just made it even funnier, I think 😅
@@RyanCarrington I love that you laughed the hardest at JLC falling during her dance. I believe the slip was a genuine accident, and got a real reaction from Schwarzenegger, but she got back up and they played it off for extra comedy!
Such a fun action adventure spy comedy film! There is a TV series based on the movie on CBS, though it's reviews are mixed. There was going to be a sequel, but it was cancelled due to the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks, as James Cameron knew that terrorism was very serious.
So glad you finally got this one up! I know it wasn't easy.
This is probably my favorite action film ever. It's definitely my favorite role for Bill Paxton. He was perfectly sleezy and hilarious.
Loved Bill Paxton in this!
This movie takes "over-the-top" to a whole new level.
It went places I wasn't expecting and then just kept going 😂
The 90's. Still the best decade for movies EVER! (maybe because it was my youth;)
Jamie’s dance was classic and what makes it better it was all improvised, she had no choreography and got to pick her own music for that scene.
Oh wow!
@@RyanCarringtonWhat JLC in the movie Perfect. She knows how to work it.
Its a remake of the film "La Totale (1991)", so the script is half French half peak Cameron... probably why its so joyfully bonkers. The sitting on the bomb is a wink to Dr Strangelove. Great reaction Ryan, such a fun film.. grins aplenty with this one, glad you got it past the YT censors.
39th time was the charm 😂💀
@@RyanCarrington 39? Jesus.
"Higher than Pterodactyl Tits" will now be said in my day to day conversations.
Haha my work here is done.
12 year old me watching this in 1995 on home video had some very confused emotions during that hotel dance scene.
And to this day, I say “batteraseez” when I need them.
That's funny because there's a bit in Ali G Indahouse where he says 'batteries' kinda funny, and I always catch myself mimicking that when I'm looking for some.
There's something about that word haha
@@RyanCarrington me was tryin’ to save tahm!
@@surlycanadian ahaha yes! 😂
29:58 I married Rambo. It's funny because Arnold and Sylvester used to roast each other in their films.
I damn near barfed up a lung from laughing the first time I heard that line.
Yes, James "I Regret Glorifying Guns" Cameron
Proof, if it were needed, that directors are just part of a team making a movie.
Dude, for me the best reaction to this masterpiece! And to all of the following in the comments, combined with your summary of the film, we just need to say to explain this incredibly expensive and creative madness on the screen that this is old James Cameron, and that says it all! He just doesn't know how to do something passable! Thank you for such an emotional and funny reaction!)
I had the privilege to see this in cinemas when it came out. One of my favourite benchmark movies to test Audio / cinema gear 😎 James Cameron and action movies, pure gold !
My favorite bit of trivia is when Helen falls from the bedpost, that was a complete accident. JLC slipped and you can see Arnold move to help her. James Cameron like it so much (and it really was fitting for her character), he left it in.
Thank you for including all the good parts including “battery azziz.”😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is one of those outrageous movies that take you for a ride you haven't seen comming. Like the first Pirates of the Caribbean.
At the start of the movie, Harry is wearing a dry suit, not a wet suit. 😊 However, a great trick for putting on a wet suit (especially if it's wet) is to put a plastic shopping bag over your feet/ hands while donning.
Ahh gotcha!
Also, I'll remember that tip 🤙
Loved your reaction to this classic. Everybody in it was perfect. Just Hilarious Ridiculousness that somehow works. It will always be one of my favorites. Your laughter was a joy to watch.
34:30 - To answer your question, they just really did it and pointed a camera at it. No stuntmen, no props, just really Arnold holding Jaime dangling from a helicopter. (with safety lines and harnesses, of course)
Why? Because James Cameron gets whatever he wants.
What was the budget? Whatever James Cameron wants.
I love that!
I lost it at the Team America comparison and clip. 🤣
😂😂 That's all I could see haha
Adding... the budget was $100-120 million. It was the movie that started the +100 million budget blockbuster action movie standard.
One of my favorite movies !! Great job !!🎉
As I'm sure many will tell you, Jamie Lee Curtis's mother was the girl in the famous shower scene in Psycho.
25:52 if only the terrorists had not shown up for another 10 - 20 minutes this would have been a MUCH different movie. 🤣😂
😂
Ryan, that was a great and fun reaction. Glad you enjoyed it so much. If the rest of the film hadn’t been so good, Tom Arnold would absolutely have stolen the show. There’s so much in this film that is fun, even if unbelievable. Thanks for this one.
Yeah, this goes absolutely bananas, in the best way.
Thanks as always for watching. Glad you enjoyed! 🙌
Alright!
I have this movie poster. Yes, from the nineties. God I'm old.
"Higher than pterodactyl +!+$" I gotta remember that one.
Bill Paxton playing another hilarious coward for JC 😅
RIP to one of my faves.
Check out his directing work in Frailty, with Matthew McConaughey.
I loved him in this movie! Sad he's not still with us.
I’m recently started to watching your reactions and you’re so funny!!! 😂 fucking love it !!! New subscriber 💯
Art Malik, the bad guy, was in a 90s James Bond movie with Timothy Dalton (the best bond!).
Malik starred in the Jewel in the Crown and was in the Far Pavilions.
Jamie Lee Curtis is the daughter of Tony Curtis. He was in “Some Like it Hot” with Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemon. If you love to laugh, please react to it!
Remember that all of these effects were practical❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
I love this movie I never get sick of seeing it great reaction!😎🍻✌️🖖

@@godzillasaves1141 honoured to be up there with those picks!
39 edits were totally worth it. Nice one bruvva
I love how you can almost not tell that James Cameron was going through a divorce at the time.
That makes so much sense 😂
Pitch meeting: “Hi everyone, I’m james cameron. Does everyone have their cocaine ready ? Ok, so….”
Ahahaha brilliant 😂
This Movie did have a lot of good comedy and the movies today can make things look so real
Most rocket launchers have a severe backblast so standing behind one is contraindicated and you should not fire one in an enclosed space. That's why the one guy got blasted out the front of the truck and why the driver had burns. A few modern missiles, such as the NLAW, can be fired from enclosed spaces.
The film cost $100 million to make. I don't think the pitch was as difficult as you imagine. 'James Cameron + Arnold Schwarzenegger' was all they had to say. It was just three years since Terminator 2.
I didn't even think about how close those movies are together!
IMO it's the second best action movie of the 20th century. Right behind T2 Judgement Day
True Lies is in a special category of films I consider Events. This is definitely a step above what a movie has a right to be. It hits so many themes like trust, dedication, geopolitics etc with such perfection. It's an Event.
This is the ultimate date night movie, without a doubt.
That dance scene... 😈
Thanks for the LAH reference, amazing movie!
I picked that movie out when I was about 8, and I've loved it ever since!
@@RyanCarrington as you go through these classic movies, rewatch it again. You really appreciate it even more!
Your just gonna have to accept that Paxton is in pretty much every movie from 84 onwards, he's even in Top Gun ffs😂
😂
such a great arnold movie. makes me feel old thinking i saw this on pay per view when it first came out at my cousins. had a crush on dana.
Time is a cruel bitch 😩
I know Arnold is a great action star, but I love his comedy. Thanx so much, Peace
Arnold is actually supposed to be in a dry suit, otherwise his tux would be soaked. I dive but I’m not familiar enough with dry suits to be able to say that was one.
By the way, the bridge/helicopter stunt was practical. SND Jamie did her own stunt. Both of them. Both? You ask. When she was dancing and fell while swinging on the bedpost, that was actually a blooper, she just fell. But to her credit, jumped right back up. She and Arnold both recovered so quickly that it just worked. Or at least, that’s the story that’s been told.
You're right about the dry suit!
So awesome she did her own helicopter stunt.
I've been hearing about the bedpost one. I really hope that's true! That's comedy gold 😂
Another Arnie, James Cameron action winner! Great Fun, laugh along reaction 👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Would love to see you do am Arnold comedy like Twins. Great reaction ❤
Imagine having to be Arnold in that scene...
This was directed by James Cameron hence why the awesome action sequences,
I liked how you enjoyed it, I loved this movie,, great reaction.
Thanks for watching 🙌
😂Little known fact: This is Donald Trump’s favorite movie next to Home Alone 2.
Love the thumbnail. You so pretty 😍
Oh ps, the bad lady (can't remember her name) played a bad character in the movie Kull The Conqueror
I mainly remember her from a show I used to watch when i got in from school called Relic Hunter 😅
The only other movie I know her from is Wayne’s World with Mike Myers. She plays a badass rocknstar, that Wayne (Mike) falls in love with. Dana Carvey plays his weird sidekick Garth. A lot of headbanging in this movie. 😄
You mentioned the budget, it was the very first movie to have a budget of 100 million dollars.
Ooft!
No sequel but there is a new TV series on Paramount (CBS) started last September based on this movie.
Yeah, I've only just heard about this. Getting mixed reviews!
Fun flic
To anyone wondering where you've seen Schwarzenegger's daughter in this; she's the leader of the girl criminal trio in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
I thought you'd like to know..
I forgot she was in that!
I don't think James Cameron has a problem pitching movies
One of the most fun action movies that has some of the most awesome anime action but in live action : D
Dude!, you have 6.66K subscribers!, you should do something like The Omen or End of Days to celebrate
Haha I was meant to watch The Omen at one point but completely forgot!
39:27 "Are we setting up a sequel here?"
They were all geared up to do a sequel and a script was comissioned and some conceptual/development work was done...
and then 9/11 happened. Everyone involved agreed that suddenly, it was inappropriate to use Islamists as bumbling, comic-relief bad guys.
25:21 this is someone who has never seen the movie, "Trading Places".
Ooh I'll make a note of that.
Best action movie ever!
This is such a badass movie! Last American Hero, Kintergarden Cop, and Total Recall are also great, but all of Arnold's stuff is great. Total Matiné pleasure entertainment! No fucking wokeness! Just pure action comedy joy! The Hero was the Hero!
Bill paxton was hilarious in this
Batteraizis!!
Boris & Doris, Dana & Simon!
That thumbnail! 😘
Some hilarious lines in this movie!
What's everyone's favourite schwarzenegger movie quotes?
"It's not a tumor" is the one I say the most in my life.
But his movie "The Running Man" has the most fantastic one liners of his career.
Terminator: _'Fack you, azzhoe'_
@@davidallen2342 I dunno, Kindergarten Cop has a bunch of his lines that were used in sound-board prank calls for a looong time. Heavily accented: *"Who is your daddy, and what does he do?"*
That was a dry suit.
The movies of this type, are no longer made with that level of production expenses in practical effects or filmed in a real way or with miniatures, today scenes like this are made all in CGI and do not end up being credible, that's why I love the action movies of the 90s, everything looked very real. From this same era I recommend: The Rock, Speed, Face Off and Cliffhanger and of course: Terminator 1 and 2, which are other gems of high-budget action movies.
Roseanne Barr. Roseanne Barr takes the ice cube trays out of the freezer. Something tells me Tom Arnold was still feeling a little bitter when he took this role. Most of his lines were ad-libbed. And most were shots at his ex wife.
Ever see JLC in "Perfect?" I saw that after years of all the Halloweens and it was so uncomfortable and cool at the same time.
I just had to Google it. I haven't seen it, but I've seen that clip of John Travolta thrusting before, I just didn't know what it was from 😅
a movie you should see is Requiem for a Dream
I think most of us have seen a motorcycle horse chase fairly recently. 😉😉 Won’t name the movie or actors…. No spoilers
