Storyline
A thirty-five-year-old video game tester has to move in with his grandma and her two old lady roommates.
When his roommate spends the rent money, Alex, a 35 year old video game tester has to find a new place to live. After an "encounter" with his friend's mom, Alex is forced to move in with his grandmother.

One of my favorite comedies. I recommended this to so many people and a lot of them ended up buying the dvd. I should have received royalties from all the well deserved PR I gave this film.

One of my childhood friends showed me this and I loved it. We watched this and Clockwork Orange yearly up till he passed away so it's always going to be one of those great movies for me. For memories and just, you know, funny. 🐾🐾🍻
Never got high with actual grandparents but while on vacation in Colorado the friend I was staying with introduced me to his 70 year old uncle. We grilled at his uncles house and smoked a shit ton. He liked me and broke out a jar of literally 10 year old aged weed to share. It was almost maroon and tasted like wine.
Not my grandparents but my my mom had cancer years back and a friend's girlfriend gave her a bag of weed to help with the chemo. My mom said she didn't want it and gave it to me to return to my friend but when I did it turns out my mom kept like a g of what was given to her. Sneaky sneaky mom lol

Just continuing the joke he had just played on them by pretending to be clueless about the game, taking that joke to the next level in order to rub it in their faces that they’d fallen for it. And apparently in gaming, “Did I break it?” is a running joke to this day. (I’m not a gamer, I learned this from another RUclips reaction to this movie!) 😀

It was in fact a real game in development and they let them use real footage for the movie but then the game got canceled because the publisher wasn't doing well AND it was a tie in game for a movie of the same name which also got canceled.
Being a game tester isn't all it's cracked up to be. Playing the same broken part of a game over and over, taking meticulous notes, with long hours and low pay.

Another great movie with Nick Swardson (Jeff) is BLADES OF GLORY (2007) with Will Ferrell. It's about men's figure skating
His character in Reno 911, Terry, is one of the all time great characters ever created.
Blades of Glory is one of my most re-watched films. So underrated.

That ghost was Adam Sandler's voice
So the only people who will know what I'm about to say, are those who have seen this film with the commentary on. And perhaps Nick Swardson might have mentioned it in an interview on some talk show - but I can't remember lol anyways. During the filming, because this is filmed in California where were has been at least medicinally legal since the 90's - you are bound to get your hands on weed. Peter Dante, who essentially plays himself in the film - is a huge real life stoner, as I believe they all are to be honest. I don't know if Alan Covert smokes I can't remember, and Swardson might be sober now - I know he at least stop drinking alcohol. So in the beginning of shooting, because recreational use was still outlawed, they gave the actors fake weed. Dante went up to one of the cast with he baggy of fake weed and held it up, pointed at it, and said, "yo they gave me fake weed bro. Fuck that," and threw it on the ground and pulled out his own baggy of legit weed. So for the whole movie they are ALL smoking REAL weed, literally getting baked out of their mind, having to do the same scenes over and over, taking full rip of the bong or joint take after take after take for the entirety of filming.
That's why you always check out the commentary if the film has it kids.

And my favorite quote is, and this is literally something I say all the time to this day, and it's when Nick's character says, "That's great," after they all find out his grandma drank all his pot. I say it with the same cadence too 🤣

Best stoner movie EVER! No competition and Dante is definitely my favorite movie dealer lol. When our boat went on deployment back in the way back when days, another mechanic and I were left behind for schools. We spent 3 months just getting trashed every day and watching this movie on repeat...one those times in my life that is etched into my brain, which is weird considering al the booze we were drinking haha.

One night several years ago I was working security at a gatehouse in a residential neighborhood and they had this on DVD and a tv so I watched it and I was so glad I did. Perfect stoner gamer nonsense movie. Doris Roberts as the grandma made it even better. Needless to say I’ve watched it several times since then!
Some friends and I saw this when it came out,I was about 10 years older than the rest. We were all very stoned throughout and loved it, unfortunately I have been known as “Greybush” ever since.🤣

I’d only heard of this movie through David Spade’s podcast (Fly on the Wall), and here you are! Have to say, a surprising amount of talent in the cast. I enjoyed watching it - shoutout to Shirley Jones - she had some great lines!

I think this movie is funny brings me back to the good old days of testing.. I've been a video game tester for over 20 years! Best job ever and this movie captures some of life really well.. testers are party animals we had parties like every weekend, we played pranks on each other and challenge each or at Hames and other stupid stuff like the milk challenge. Soapy were pot heads and had some interesting boss.. but being a tester I know it is impossible fir one tester to find all the bugs in the game... And then say they can all be fixed.. lol people blame testers fir bugs but most of the time bugs aren't fixed cause it's not a blocker and the build need to comes out.. that's why there's patches and new builds on mobile games. It's a crazy job with crazy hours but just love it!

@@RyanCarrington I think it was your Starship Troopers vid that I saw first a couple weeks ago that got my attention. The more obscure the movie, the more I'm likely to click. I don't think I've ever seen a Granma's boy reaction. Off the top of my head, the 2 obscure movies you should react to are. Children of Men and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. The former is about a dystopian future with sumptuous backgrounds and long takes, The latter is a Monty Pythonesque fantasy adventure story where you get to see a young Uma Thurmon's titties... well just one. There's also Gattaca!
