Yeah, I get what you're saying, but as a lesbian, it's nice to find representation. We rarely see it, especially in country music. The only openly lesbian country artist I know of is Katie Pruitt & the Indigo Girls. Representation is key & despite it just being "good music," lgbt+ kids need to find it to know they aren't different. Just listen to Katie Pruitt’s song normal & you'll see what I mean.

this year was the first year i was going to go to pride fest but stupid corona killed my plans
You know, now that I think about it, Corona isn't all that bad!
I've never been to pride, but when I was a junior in high school and deeply closeted, I was with my aunt and my sister looking at colleges in Seattle. Little did we know our hotel was on the main road for the parade and one day we woke up to rainbow flags and happy faces. When we went outside to go to the next school, I could barely hide my excitement. I had never been surrounded by people who were like me and I had gone to Catholic school my whole life. I really just wanted to break down and cry but I couldn't blow my gay cover (as if the massive, glowing smile on my face didn't already give it away). I wish I remembered it more, but I know that was one of the happiest moments I've ever had in my life. I hope once this pandemic's over I'm able to finally go. I wish I had songs like these when I was younger. It would've made me feel a lot less alone. Beautiful song, just learned it on guitar.

My Dad is a 79 year old gay man who is still 'in the closet,' because when he was a kid in rural Ontario, he might have been hung from a tree in the '50's for being gay. It's been my message to my kids as they grew up and to anyone that asked or might need to hear it. "If you find Love, Real Love in this world that seems set on spiraling downward, hold onto it, nurture it and never give up, no matter who or what others might think. Where the Pride thoing loses me is having to have a parade and while this parade was more restrained, I've seen pride parades that you wouldn't take your grandma to and who likes to go to parades? Little kids. When it's time, each young adult should make up their own mind without pressure to take either road. But when you take the unicorn, rainbows with all of the bright colors, and have parades depiting so much fun being gay, that's influencing to an age group that's not ready to make that choice but seeing mommy and daddy arguing now and again and being grumpy, I think you get what I'm saying. Love who you love and since you get the right to choose, give others the same chance without being pished.
