    The harmonics is purely perfect interpreted! Good job my friend.

    • @jasmadams
      @jasmadams 5 лет назад +2

      How's he playing them off the typical frets? I noticed he picks way up the neck on some of those. I didn't realize that was possible, but I suppose the physics would support it.

    • @christopherrowley7506
      @christopherrowley7506 5 лет назад +6

      @@jasmadams for example there is a harmonic at the twelfth fret on an open string, but if you fret that string at the second fret, then the corresponding harmonic would be at the 14th fret. Normally when you play open string harmonics you have both hands at your disposal (one to touch the string at the harmonic location and the other to pluck). But in the latter case--as you noted--it's different: one hand frets the string while the other has to both touch the harmonic location and pluck. It looks like João uses his pointer finger to touch the string at the harmonic spot and uses his ring finger on the same hand to pluck the string.... Kind of hard to describe in words but actually not too difficult to do. Getting such good tone with it as João though is impressive.

      The funny thing is that I'm so thrilled with this interpretation, but this portion didn't really grab my attention. I'm an intermediate banjo player, and now I see through the magic of rolls. He executes them flawlessly, but honestly there are plenty of other parts, where he is pulling off far more impressive technical feats.

    Anyone who plays classical can hear the pain it must have taken to get this down. I would have to practice artificial harmonics for year. You have to go exactly 12 frets or octave and muffle with index and pluck with middle or ring. This guy does it like he is bored with the whole thing. Amazing.
