omg there was a moment where i was like: "uh you gonna look at the road or what?" And then, I realized the car was stopped. The illusion of the other cars going by made me think the car was still moving.
Hi! answering the questions: 1: yea, great art should be explained to be amplified but it doesn't always have to be, i think actually because many of the greats like Starry nights and Mona lisa aren't themselves like better than everything ever at the time, but its based on their context (like starry night being from gogh's asylum) 2: I hate to say the "it depends" thing, but really masculinity and femininity are invented by humans and so it varies based on what everyone thinks, in Japan for example, guys with clear skin and are skinny are seen as masculine, and there is really no distinct objective biological or, like universal constant of what "feminine" and "masculine" is. Great video as always, love y'all
I don’t think good art should need an explanation, but a fascinating explanation can definitely enrich the art. For example, I can appreciate a movie on its own, but when I learn behind the scenes information about it -what I’d consider an explanation, of how and why it was made - my love of the art itself expands. Not only my love of the specific movie, but my love for movies in general, my appreciation of the odd ways they come to be and what useful collaborators actors can be and how useful openness to change is when making a movie. I feel like most good art CAN’T be created without a great journey /explanation that led to it, whether the journey is shared with the audience or not, so why not share this additional dimension in the creation of this great thing?
I’m taking a random cross-country roadtrip too, in an attempt to move nowhere with no plan. It’s really encouraging to see another person do the same. Anyways, I broke my trip up into 8-9 hour drives through the boring states, and 5-6 hour drives through the nice ones with some more stops there. So it’s a split between roadtrip and “seeing the world” :) National or state parks are usually pretty cool places to stop, and there tends to be a lot of affordable hostels, safe and serviced campgrounds or couch-surfing opportunities near those places too.
that last part convinced me I need to start journaling... thank you, and I love you. I didn't even realize how long this video was because of how entertaining and interesting all you said is
this video makes me a little nervous because it looks like (could be wrong) that youre not looking at the road at all and hardly even holding the wheel!😅
my opinion on the difference between feminity and masculinity is feminity to me is graceful and soft and like its hard to explain but its like taking the scenic route even if it adds 10 minutes to your commute i dont wanna say its frivolous cuz thats not the word im looking for but something like that. masculinity to me is more to the point like taking a shortcut to shave off 10 minutes to your commute masculinity is about the destination and feminity is about the journey idk do i make sense?
my experience with feminity and masculinity is a bit different than most as a trans woman i found myself using masculinity as a means of protecting myself much like you said i lacked a mother and father figure in my life being in government care for a while and running away from home when i was 14-15 being raised as a man but with the internal struggle of it not feeling right made me loathe masculinity and actively fight it but even then i was forced to use it to keep me alive as i have grown i have evened out from being hyper masculine to fight off things to being hyper feminine as a way to validate myself into a more well rounded feminine leaning person apart from the societal things about being masculine i definitely found that while i used both as a shield masulinity was a shell whereas feminity was a blanket one protecting and one soothing. ok sorry for the bad grammar im a 8th grade dropout i hope my thooughts are coherent enough to be understood. thank you for this little thought experiment
I watched this whole video shortly after having my wisdom teeth taken out, and I found it so enjoyable and interesting. You’re one of my biggest inspirations for style and who I want to be!
That was a really cool video, it made me think a lot. In my opinion, art doesn't have to be explained, but the explanation can amplify it. However, the lack of explanation opens a lot of possibilities to the human imagination, generating creativity, which is a fantastic thing. Also, I like to think of art as a catharsis movement. I use art a lot to put feelings and sensations out. In fact, it is known that art was used even for mental health improvement (take a look at what Nise da Silveira did, for example). Anyway, good luck on the new adventures!
I really admire how you chase your dreams Sepherah! I just wanted to warn everyone today about human trafficking. Pay attention to your surroundings, and get everywhere speedily you never know who is where, have a great day!
The clinical difference is: masculine traits and hobbies are centered around inanimate objects and competition, and feminine traits and hobbies are centered around relationships and comfort. While I consider that a generically satisfactory answer, it lacks nuance. There are feminine men and masculine women. We all know femboys and tomboys when we see them, even based on such superficial things as their mannerisms and clothes styling, which people in these groups intentionally use to communicate wordlessly to others that “yes, I’m a tomboy” or “yes, I’m a feminine man”. Masculinity and femininity are languages. There are feminine smells and masculine smells. There are fem colors and masc colors. Masc textures and fem textures. Masc food tastes and fem food tastes. Making a distinction between genders is international and goes back as far as our ability to be called human instead of homo erectus for many reasons, not least because it’s part of our major life decision making process; discernment and competition over ideal spouses/mates is a pretty big deal to humans, even now with all our fancy gadgets that distinguish us from the “lower beasts”. The desire to understand and categorize our environment and other people is a pretty big deal to humans too, and labeling something or someone as masculine or feminine is an extremely useful umbrella term. Defining others is also part of threat assessment/survival, as politically incorrect as that may sound. I feel it’s possible for men to “speak” femininity and women to “speak” masculinity, but it is a skill that needs learning. Unless you study, it can be like trying to understand a foreigner; you’re both human of course, but there will be some difficulty. I think the people most willing to recognize that there is a general gender difference are the people who are the most effective communicators, because they’re willing to operate from baseline reality. (There’s no need to be offended by a difference; neither gender is worse or better, just different, and I think people fear making the distinction because they automatically try to rank one gender over the other.)
I feel like art has always been about telling a story or sending a message so I feel like it doesn't really need to be explained, but more explainable to someone. For the second question I just think Masc and Fem is something we came up with for the most part so the ideas of both will be ever changing. But I kind of agree when some people say that Fems are more inherently creative compared to Mascs. Whether that be through childbirth or art.
as for "does good art need to be explained" I mean no, not necessarily, but it's still good art if it does. I don't think any art needs to be explained. It doesn't have to but I think it adds so much value to know the meaning. Imagine if Leanodra Da Vinci had instagram or RUclips and made an in depth analysis of his paintings, there could be ideas of the piece that have been lost in time and analysist completly miss interpet.

"what's the difference between masculinity and femininity" I honestly think it's whatever you make of it. I think the general idea of the two are shaped by male and female characteristics and how people generalise those sex and genders. When I think of femininty I think of womenly things and things I've been taught are womenly and then the same logic for masculinity. I think there's feminity in masculinity and masculinity in femininity and that the two are really one in the same, and not parallel lines as they're commonly treated. With that being said though, according to their common defiitnions, they are each others opposite so that would disregard what I'm saying about them having similiarites. It's maybe better to put it that way, that they have similiarites then they're one in the same. Maybe I'm making it more complicated then it has to be and I'm finding it difficult to explain exactly what i mean but yeah
@@815-n8e I’d love to break down a theory I have. I’d like to begin by defining God as something that transcends gender. Apart from that, I believe that every creation, virtue, defect, or abstract concept is gendered. I believe gender is a quality inherent to all things. In the example I gave above, I used the concepts of form and grace. To specify, I mean these concepts as the ideas themselves, not so much literally; this conceptualization is somewhat poetic. It is symbolic. Truly, both form and grace are manifestation of the same concept. They are polarities. While form is structure, reasoned, and ordered; grace is fluid, adaptable, and beautiful. True perfection is at the union of opposites. God exists at the union of opposites. Balancing these two energies in us is essential to live an integrated life. A man existing too much in his masculine frame becomes a tyrant. He becomes obsessed with power, discipline, and force. This comes about through subconscious defects; they are due to suppressed feelings of inadequacy as a man, such as in a person with a Napoleon complex. This is the state in where abuse, neglect, and violence stem from. Equally, a man existing too much in his feminine frame becomes passive. This manifests as an over reliance on one’s mother, since the man cannot provide for himself, as he is undisciplined, unorganized, and chaotic. He develops an Oedipus complex. When his mother is no longer available, he will seek to replace her through a romantic partner. He will over attach himself to her, projecting the image of his mother onto her; it will quickly become abusive as the man submits to the will of the woman. He positions her in a role she did not choose, the role of the second mother. A woman existing too much in her feminine frame faces the same issue. She is unable to provide for herself and relies on her father. When her father is no longer available, she will seek to replace him through a romantic partner. She will become overly attached to him. This is a vulnerable position as she opens herself up to being taken advantage of, or even abused. This is a Cinderella complex. A woman existing too much in her masculine frame becomes overly-aggressive, condescending, and cold. Because she lacks submission and the gentle femininity men desire, she will find it difficult to find a man who will provide for her on a long term basis. Society creates manifestations of human nature; society is the shadow of reality. It is impossible to distinguish reality from social norms, and for this reason, these concepts are impossible to truly dissect. Nevertheless, we can use the fact that society is a shadow of reality to try to make sense of things. I am sure there are many holes in my argument, or assumptions that I have not proved, yet I believe that despite them, there is some transcending truth that I have here. Language and human logic are not enough to decree the definitive truth, but that shouldn’t stop us from contemplating. One cannot exist without the other. Neither is superior to the other. The polarities simply have different roles. Like I mentioned, form and grace are expressions of the same virtue. To put a word on the underlying virtue they express would be impossible. It is more in what is in between the lines that is the ultimate truth. Too much form and you get force, brutality, and tyranny. Too much grace and you lack accountability, integrity, and discipline
Does good art need to be explained?: "It Depends" 💀 I believe that art is all about perspective, being able to interpret art through your own lenses (accessories of not) and come to your own conclusion. Though art has shifted the course of history more than once, that's because it displayed a clear message that was "meant to be understood" or conveyed an idea so powerful people came together or all experienced a similar compelling feeling. What is the difference between the Masculine & Feminine?: The Masculine in my opinion is represented in progress and action, the natural product of logical thinking. (also attributed to masculinity) If you think about it in terms of polarity i'd attribute masculinity to negative polarity. Logistics are brutal, honest, unforgiving and a lot of times... unethical even though that's an undeniable fact The Masculine truly is the engine behind humanity's ability to achieve so much. The Feminine in my opinion is represented in cultivation and love, the two driving forces behind what it really means to be human. I wonder if youv'e seen the movie "Mars needs Moms"? That work of filmographic art is 10/10 , the way the movie highlights the importance of The Feminine (as well as its negative aspects) subliminally explains both sides of the coin. I believe The Feminine is how humans connect to humans regardless of sex, it's how relationships are built and families are glued together, truthfully humans wouldn't thrive without meaningful relationships with other humans
I think there's no inherent difference between masculinity and femininity, they're social constructs that stem from gender which depending on the time and place, have meant different things. I think it's just more of this singular concept thing that people take certain attributes from, and label them either masculine or feminine. This goes into the conversation of gender roles and how they can make people feel caged in their identity as human beings.
