I was allowed to hold one of these adorable little Martians at a cat show, years ago. They feel like a velvety hot potato ❤

I would disagree that any cat needs their claws trimmed unless the cat is old/disabled, just make sure you have cat scratching posts, cat trees etc. as their claws are hollow and do come off naturally as they grow. Sphynx are the most intelligent and social/loving cats I’ve ever had the honour and joy of being around. I’m glad you spoke about their high maintenance needs because having a sphynx is like looking after a small child, I call them ‘my babies’ because they are like toddlers running around and sometimes getting up to mischief 😅 you definitely have to ‘cat proof’ your house depending on your cats personality (as you would with any pet) they take so much love and care but if you can provide a healthy environment and a loving home with lots of attention then they could be the pet for you. That being said I do agree with the ‘adopt don’t shop’.

Most sphynx cats will be obtained from breeders, which is already a problem considering how many thousands of cats are in shelters. People pick them for aesthetics, it's seldom heard of someone adopting a sphynx cat because they rarely end up in shelters. So when I see sphnyx cats, I see someone who would rather purchase an animal from someone profiting off of breeding than adopting an animal whose waiting to be euthanized. I see selfishness.
I also don't support the breeding of these cats, who have difficult lives as a result of their hairlessness. Cats spent a majority of their live grooming themselves, and this robs them of that.
