Having watched this, im concerned my palownia that gave me very average growth last year is in a poor position, its only a few cm thick, do they move well or will it struggle? thanks

They don't do great with transplanting, but if they are young plants they should survive it. They need lots of sunshine, and for the first year or two they like regular watering until their roots get down to a good depth. All my plants that I've grown have been very slow in their first year, then if well watered and fed they shoot up by several meters in their second year. Other plants that I haven't kept well watered and fed have continued to grow slow for three years, but I expect them to speed up once they get their roots established enough to get the water and nutrients that they need.

i’d love to try this tree however my garden is mostly clay soil so i doubt it will do well?

Yes it might struggle in clay soil, if the roots are too wet they often just rot. It depends on how heavy your clay soil is and how wet it tends to be as to how well it will grow.

@@Gardeningat58N yeah definitely, think i’ll have to stick with alder trees for now as that’s really the only thing that thrives😂

I planted mine in clay 2 summers ago. It also gets very cold. Survived thus far.
