    After watching this twice - my aha! moment was seeing how you project plan within OmniFocus. I've always confused project planning with my project support efforts or where other information about a project is kept. I now see a distinction I didn't before. Thanks, Meg.

    • @GuyBjerke
      @GuyBjerke 2 месяца назад

      @@jrRim In the video Meg distinguishes between project planning - a list of possible next actions without a tag and actual next actions with a tag - so Omnifocus serves both purposes. This allows me to both brainstorm and focus despite long lists. I put project support in physical file folders or Evernote.

      @@megedwards5136 Yes it would be helpful. It isn't so much about the tool but about how the GTD is usefully manifested through a specific tool. I found it interesting that for some inbox items that could be a project, you say "I won't create a project yet". I keep finding I have way too many projects that are then undefined. Maybe I'm creating some projects prematurely...

    How do single actions show up in your system? Do they have a project? Do you tag the in the same way?

    • @megedwards5136
      @megedwards5136 15 дней назад +1

      Hi - I have single actions that have nothing to do with projects so I will just add them to the tag section. For example, I need to call the dentist to change the appointment. There isn't a project here so it is just on my calls list.
      My tag section is a combination of single actions and actions that are also part of projects.
      Also, when I add a single action to my inbox, I don't need to attach it to a project to it so I just tag it so that it goes into that list directly.
      I hope that answers your question
      Meg

    Hi Meg, Thanks heaps for the video. Your video persuaded me to give the omnifocus 14 day trial a go. One thing I don't understand from your video is how do you get things out of your inbox. Is the only way to assign them to a project?

    • @megedwards5136
      @megedwards5136 2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Paul- I don't have to assign something in my inbox to a project if it is just a single action that I want to add to a tag. I then use the clean up brush when I am finished clarifying and organizing and then what was in my inbox is now on one of my tag lists. I went to "View". "Customize Toolbar " and added the brush to my toolbar. Hope that helps. Meg

    Very informative video. I’m just getting started with GTD and I find that most of the functionality you demonstrated with Omnifocus can be replicated in Apple Notes with tags and the new linking capability. I just wish there was a more straightforward way of capturing email “stuff” in Notes

    Question: How do you differentiate between your Someday/Maybe folder (projects) and the Someday tag? Do you tag all the items in the folder?

    • @megedwards5136
      @megedwards5136 6 месяцев назад

      Hi Claudia- For me I do separate my someday maybes by "ground" level someday maybes which are in the tag section and someday maybe's that are on the "project" level which I keep in the project section.

  • @missyb7311

    Is this right: Set to clear inbox with a project OR a tag. And if tagged and not projected you just renamed Misc to ---. You just have one SAL for anything non-project based. I think where I've complicated things before is making too many SAL's. I'm returning to OF for the XXth time since v1. I'm vowing not to complicate it unnecessarily and love your simplicity! (And from the next video I think, maybe it was in here...the tickler in OF. Brilliant.) Other best thing...only tag when ready to do.

      Hi Missy, This all looks good to me re: what you shared. I hope you now feel you OF set up is not complicated anymore which will make is so much easier to use and maintain moving forward.

    I'm curious if/when emails are sent from your email client to Omnifocus. If you need to respond to or work with a specific email, do you send it from your email client to omnifocus or do you just clarify/organize within your email client?

    • @megedwards5136
      @megedwards5136 5 месяцев назад

      Hi, Thank you for your question. I don't send emails to OF. Instead I have an "action" email folder and if the email is actionable I put the email in that folder to respond to later. When I am going to do work, I do now need to look in two places, OF and my action email folder but that works for me.

    • @TronYuuta
      @TronYuuta 4 месяца назад

      @@megedwards5136 thanks for your reply! yes, I think I'm sending too many tasks to OF that could just stay in my email client, which is creating friction. Attaching every task to its project is attractive in OF but often more overhead than is necessary.

    Does she use on hold projects?

    • @megedwards5136
      @megedwards5136 6 месяцев назад

      Yes I do have a projects on hold list. In my weekly review I look at this list to decide if I now have the bandwidth and/or recourses to make this a current project or if I want to continue to keep it an on hold project.

      @@megedwards5136 Hi Meg. Thanks again for this. For your "Projects on Hold" folder: do you set on hold projects to "on hold" in OmniFocus or do you simply move it to a folder called "On Hold" projects but keep it "active" in OmniFocus? Is it possible for you to have a project "on hold" but that you may want to tag an active action on every once in a while?
