    So the story behind this album is thus: Justin Vernon's band breaks up, his girlfriend dumps him, and he get sick with mono. He retires to his father's hunting cabin jn the woods, and eventually buys an old creaky guitar off the Internet. At some point during recording, his laptop crashed due to a power outage and he had to start over. Eventually, he leaves the cabin with what were supposed to be demos, but his friends convinced him to release the songs as is. A few edits later, and you have this album.

    You make me almost cry every time you almost cry. Such a emotionally charged album. Even the instruments sound like they’re crying or shouting in pain like the drums. Great video

    “Skinny Love” was the first song I ever heard by him. I was so moved with the beauty of it.

    One of my favorite albums from my favorite artist of all time! You also pronounced it correctly! (Bonnie Bear) loved watching a first time listen thru and seeing a genuine reaction to something that has held such a special place in my heart for the better part of my life. Thank you for sharing!

    This is my favourite album of all time. Something about Vernon's solitude is felt so deeply in this record. I'm currently planning on getting my first tattoo based on this album. It's carried with me for so many years because of it's raw emotion conveyed. Amazing video. I totally recommend his other album, 22 A Million. I reacted to it on my channel and it was an absolute blast. Subscribed!

    gonna have to second the other comment recommending the glow pt. 2 by the microphones, probably my favorite album of all time. it's another one of those highly emotional "go out into the cold and think about life" albums. the artist name might lead you to believe it's a band but it's mainly one dude, though he did get some help (also i saw someone on the giles corey video recommend "songs about leaving" by carissa's wierd, which is probably my second favorite album haha. highly recommended even if it's just on your own time and not a reaction)

    I almost feel guilty suggesting it, but A Crow Looked At Me by Mount Eerie will redefine the way you look at music and mourning. It is of course made by Phil Elverum the same artist behind The Glow Pt. 2 by the Microphones (which I have seen suggested on your channel). If you are easily saddened or depressed by music, just be cautious as it will break you.

    • @ichasedacrow2
      @ichasedacrow2 3 месяца назад +1

      i would honestly not suggest listening to a crow looked at me for a first phil elverum album, it's just such a tough pill to swallow

    Bon eve-air is how you pronounce it. Bon Iver is French for 'good winter'. I haven't checked the rest of your channel (this is the first video I've seen from you) but I hope you've checked the rest of Bon Iver's discography, especially the self titled album which came out after this 💙💙

    Just subscribed! I would absolutely looooove to see you react to:
    The 1975
    Everyday Life (album) by Coldplay - it’s their best by far and hugely underrated
    Repave by Volcano Choir (a Bon Iver side project. You’d love it considering how much you liked this album, and their song Perth!!)

  • @stef_duch8245
    @stef_duch8245 Месяц назад

    it’s pronounced in the first way you said it! the name is based on « Bon hiver » in french, which means « good winter, have a good winter », as he likes Canada :)

    Damn it sucks that the rabid Olivia stans won and forced you to take down the Guts video. Anyways, I shall continue to compliment your taste and give you some more suggestions for album reactions.
    First, if you liked this album you should definitely listen to The Glow Pt. 2 by The Microphones if you haven't already. That album truly hits me in the gut emotionally every time I hear it. I would also suggest It's a Wonderful Life by Sparklehorse as well.
    Second, I know this band isn't like Bon Iver at all but I've been on a major Dinosaur Jr kick for the past few months and even saw them live a month ago and it was incredible - if you haven't already I would strongly recommend their album "You're Living All Over Me". I really wanna hear what you think of them since sonically they're far more energetic and upbeat than most of the albums you've reacted to so far, although their lyrics can still be pretty dark and depressing at times.
