Phenomenal record one of the rawest albums ever. The fact he retreated to a cabin in the woods after a break up with his band and girlfriend only to emerged with this masterpiece makes it that much better. you can feel the loneliness, cold atmosphere, the longing.
Just FYI, the last 30 seconds of Re: Stacks is not just blank noise. You can hear Justin set his guitar down, get up from his chair, walk across the floor of his cabin, and plus his answering machine back in. It symbolizes him ending his self-imposed isolation after heartbreak and reconnecting with the outside world.
So interesting! I had heard about that and I am going to New Mexico this summer to go to Philmont to take the most advanced leadership training the boy scouts have to offer. I will have my phone fully off and am not turning it back on until after I summit the mountain I'm climbing
Speaking of the musicality of his voice, lyrically he is the type to go for the sound or feel of a word over the actual meaning. That’s why he literally will make up words from time to time in his lyrics
Justin Vernon is a beast, a genius. The story behind this album is amazing. Long story short, he was isolated in a cabin for 3 months, after a breakup and dealing with a disease. He did these songs during this period, that's why it's so raw and more folky than his sophomore album. Imo, 22, a million is one of my favorite albums of all times. All of his projects are amazing. Listen to The Shouting Matches, Big Red Machine, Volcano Choir, Deyarmond Edison and his solo projects and collaborations with other artists (from Kanye West to Taylor Swift). E seu inglês é perfeito. Parabéns
Stacks and Flume as well as the wolves absolutely revolutionized my perspective on being alone and existing with the moment and taking in how things due to what has happened are and what could happen next. Scary but eye opening
The first time I had ever heard Bon Iver, it was The Wolves at the end of the film The Place Beyond The Pines after it came out on DVD, that song just really hit me on a really deep level, and I fast-forwarded through the credits so I could listen to more of this band I'd never heard of. That was years ago but Bon Iver has been my favorite band and Justin Vernon one of my favorite Artists. I'll admit that I didn't love his latest album as I only enjoyed like 2 or 3 songs on the album, but I absolutely adore the song Naeem, it's in my Top 5 favorite songs of his, lol.
Great reaction! I just found you on here because of your last Bon Iver reaction. You have an amazing appreciation for music. I can't wait for you to check out the other albums. He's done so much other great work with other groups as well. Notably Volcano Choir and Big Red Machine.
Their 3rd album, "22, a Million" is easily my favorite album of all time, maybe even my favorite piece of art. It's a LOT more experimental than For Emma or Self Titled, but its an experience that transports you to another world.
As you run through the Bon Iver discography you should dabble in the extended universe. The releases inform the bon iver records that come next. Shouting matches, gayngs, volcano choir, Jason feathers, big red machine

So beautiful. I literally live here. It's amazing and magical. Wisconsin is home ❤️ 💙

Incredible album, my older bro introduced me and I’ve been hooked ever since. Would love to see you react to 22, A Million !

GOD, Strafford APTS, 8 (circle) and Creeks hit so different for me, that album has been on a loop the last few days!
I just watched youre reaction to that this morning. I forgot HOW much i loved that album. Literally a masterpiece imo
Why use neutral pronouns lmao
@@Camothor10 “they” is still grammatically correct, why shouldn’t the commenter use it? Don’t be annoying.
@@DougAraujo why am i being annoying lmao dont be so aggro its just confusing
22 is gonna be so wild to watch you react to and i cant wait
There is nothing boring about this. By the time Re: Stacks hits at the end I’m fucking exhausted and spiritually full at the same time 😂

A+ record.
eu amo bon iver, sinto e sei que bon iver é aquilo que temos de melhor.

flume drives me wild forever and ever
This is the first album where he really experimented with singing in a falsetto. His bands before this he used primarily full voice
You gotta check out his Big Red Machine albums as well! The first is very experimental and interesting
yeah you will definitely love sufjan stevens
+1 to sufjan, both Illinois and Carrie & Lowell are probably good albums to start with
Yessss!!!!! Start with illinois then carrie & lowell. And his side projects are good too
its crazy how this album was made in a cabin lol
to be fair, he's also recorded the following albums in the same cabin.. it has an entire professional recording studio
@@GuyDudemanI don’t think it did when he recorded FEFA tho. He talks about how it still had dirt floors and no plumbing when he stayed there lol
If this style is your jam, you should react to Fleet Foxes or Ben Howard
Sufjan stevens illinois then carrie and lowell. Right up this alley
A moment of silence to those who prefer Birdy's Skinny Love
Nothing compares to the soulfulness Bon Iver brings to it with his voice
Ben Howard is another guy worth looking into if you like this.
Absolutely. I was just thinking that and then I saw your comment. Good ear.
I see that Tim Bernardes classic on the left 👀
Gotta love it!
Thanks for un-privating this video ✌️
I didn’t! Lmao it must have been blocked by YT in your area and recently unblocked. Either way I’m glad you get to watch it
@@DougAraujo haha thats weird, thanks man
